Psalm 27:5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
This hymn by Fanny Crosby explains the authors life, for Fanny faced several incredible hardships during her ninety-five years. First was her blindness, caused by a careless doctor when she was only six weeks of age. The second was a less-than ideal marriage. Because of her blindness her cruel husband left her. Fanny's deepest blow was the loss of her child. To this day, no one know if it was a boy or girl, Fanny seldom spoke of the infant. The child's death devastated her, and she privately bore the sadness all her life.Yet all who knew Fanny Crosby spoke of her energy, her zest for life, her joy. One biographer said, "Even in extreme old age, she would tire out people twenty or thirty years her junior. She said,"How long am I going to travel and lecture? Always! There is nothing that could induce me to abandon my work. It means nothing to be eighty-four years of age, because I am still young! Fanny Crosby lived out the song every day of her life. "He hideth my soul in the depths of His love, and covers me there with His hand. The music is composed by William J. Kirkpatrick who was very famous for composing many gospel hymns. On February 11, 1915 Fanny wasn't feeling well, fainted and passed away with a special glow on her face being so near to the Lord she loved and served all her life. Peace be to her memory. She has given so much to the Christian world, such an remarkable abundance that we cannot thank her enough. But the Lord will! Blessings to All! Lynnae Larson
Lynnae Larson I believe most of what you said was accurate except for Fanny’s marriage . She and her husband were married for over 40 years until he died . He was a musician like she. I have never heard him described as cruel before!
This hymn is so very uplifting and beautiful! Jesus is altogether lovely! We long to be with with Him! Meanwhile we can still enjoy His Presence in us!. And the best is yet to come!!!
I love Fanny Crosby's hymns. Even though she was blinded as a baby, she did not let that stop her from serving her Lord. It is a lesson that all of God's children must learn. We all have struggles, but we should not let them stop us from serving Christ.
"And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by" Exodus 33:22 KJV (Full: Exodus 33:17-23)

The displayed text here says He hideth my life 'with' the depths of His love. I think it's supposed to be 'in' the depths of his love & it sounded like that's what was sung here. Either way, a beautiful hymn. Just thought I'd point that out.
Other than it being sung too fast for my taste, I love it. Some songs are meant to be sung fast, some slow, and some in a moderate tempo: this song, to me, belongs in the latter category. Otherwise, well done. The harmony is beautiful.
This is one of my favorite old hymns but the tempo is too fast. Slow down and think about the words! The second verse should say He taketh my BURDENS (plural) away. Also the parts should move in a way that keeps the subtle mood.
2Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2Corinthians 5:2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: 2Corinthians 5:3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. 2Corinthians 5:4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. 2Corinthians 5:5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. 2Corinthians 5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 2Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 2Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 2Corinthians 5:9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. 2Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
Psalm 27:5
For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
He hideth my soul in a cleft of a rock that shadows a dry thirsty land. listening to this hymn so much. it
gives me hope amidst the storms of life.
And covers me there with His hands!
He hideth in my soul 🙏

Love this song but not sung this fast. Its great on ytube by Guy Penrod and wonderful by an Indian choir, Besy.
Anyone else here from the new Wyrmwood ep? No? Okay...
Are you saved?
Too rushed. Slow it down.
