      @@NinecoreNeil thanks Neil, can the preamps take pedals in front, like an OD ? Or can they not because they're digital? Basically I'm thinking of getting one of these and then using an OD pedal in front if of the clean channel as a low gain and then on top of the channel 2 for leads - would that even work ?

    Trying to decide on a rig these days is both great and frustrating. Being the 21st century, I do see the need of having a traditional amp to be somewhat archaic considering the weight, volume control, maintenance, etc. That said, they can be inspiring to play.
    I have the Mooer 005 and Baby Bomb pedals and the 005 sounds fantastic. However, you still need other pedals, connector cables, and either a power amp/FRFR speaker or a traditional cab. Micro pedals do make this a much smaller rig though.
    What about an all-inclusive option like the GE300, Line 6 POD Go or Headrush Gigboard? I don't need 100 amps and effects, but they are there if you need them. So instead of having to buy additional pedals and cables...you just load it up internally.
    I play in an original hard rock/metal band, but I also play for my church. So I'm thinking the POD Go, Headrush or GE300 are the way to go. Then just add in a Headrush FRFR 108 and you have an inexpensive, all inclusive, lightweight and versatile rig that can go direct to FOH/board and easily controlled.
    I am my own roadie and tech LOL. I see Cradle of Filth uses the 005 and Radar pedals for their rig. I'm just wondering if the tones are just as good out of an all-inclusive unit and would be a better way to go...financially and ease of use.
    Thanks! I'd love to see you demo the Charvel Joe Duplantier and Fender Jim Root teles...and go up against the Jackson Dominion :)

    I’m in the category you describe of doing overseas gigs but not in a big enough band to have a tour truck 😂 so it’s gig bag and overhead on the plane. I use a Tech 21 Flyrig5v2 as my preamp (it’s amazing!) but almost always have a head provided at venues/ festivals so go into the effects return to use as a power amp. However sometimes these amps aren’t great or not there! I’m considering a pedal sized power amp as backup or reliable / consistent primary amp. Is the baby bomb loyd enough? I’ll generally be mic’d up for FOH so that’s no problem, but still enjoy playing to the moving air if a backline. I play with some load metal drummers… do you think this would do the trick? Almost everywhere supplies a Marshall 1960 4x12 at 16 ohms. Cheers, great review, the preamp sounded great too.

    • @petewelsh9978
      @petewelsh9978 Před 7 měsíci

      @@NinecoreNeil I’ve thought about them, they’re similar to the Bluguitar (I’ve seen these used at festivals to great effect, notably by Ian Nash of Grim Reaper) much cheaper. The thing I like about my Flyrig5v2 is it has built in tuner, reverb and delay as well as effectively 3 channels. Getting the blackstar (which is bigger and heavier) would mean I’d need to take 3 extra pedals defeating the object a bit. I need to try one though they get good reviews - cheers fur the reply. I’m also looking at the Harley Benton pedal power Amps. They get good reviews and are cheap, small back up.
