Excellent explanation. Thanks.
@@FunWithHOScaleStuff You’re welcome!!! Thanks for watching!
Been doing basically the same thing for 40 years and also using 400-600 grit sheets of black wet/dry sandpaper..
And it has the way more texture that you want just like the real shingles in life. Especially in larger scales. Your work is awesome young man!. Keep the videos comming please!..
Thank you so very much!!! I truly appreciate it!!
Came back to this video and rewatched it, then used your techniques to put a tar paper roof on a building I'm modeling. Turned out pretty good, so far! Thanks again!
That’s awesome!!! Thanks for watching! 👍
Love the intro 😂 Very informative tutorial, easy to understand and follow.
LOL, Thank you!!!
I'm new to this hobby and find your tutorials are very informative and well presented. Great to see what can be achieved with simple techniques. Thank you Jason.
Pretty awesome video.... off and on I used to work for my uncle's company doing Roofing ever since the age of 14 and I have to say that sandpaper looks like authentic roofing material on a scale building. the sandpaper also kind of resembles the slate tile roofs that you see on big $$$ houses!
Thanks for watching!!! Sandpaper works great for roofing. I’m glad you liked the video! 👍
This was a great tutorial: I will try these techniques on my freighthouse project! Thanks Jason!!
Thanks for watching!!!
Great technique. Thanks for sharing Jason. Your models always look so convincingly weathered.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!!!
Thanks Jason, Very Cool!
Thanks for posting all these videos! They have been super helpful. For my version of this I used black poster board I picked up cheap. It’s a bit thicker than construction paper and you can give it even more dimension with the sand paper and knife.
Fantastic tutorial! I tried this technique and got a very nice result that set my “shake-the-box” kit a bit different from all the other ones out there. Thank you for taking the time to put together these super useful videos!
Thank you so much for watching, I really appreciate it!!!
You do an absolutely amazing job with these builds. I have been learning so much from them! Thank you for sharing your talent!
Thank you so much for watching and thank you for commenting on the videos. I really appreciate it!!!
Jason, this is incredibly good, not only the technique and your work, but your easy to follow teaching too. This channel should be big someday. Thanks for sharing, I’m going to use this technique on my diorama structures soon. Take care... Anthony
Thank you so much! I love being able to share this great hobby with others like yourself.
Just discovered your videos. I've learn so much in very short period of time.
Thank you so much for watching!!!
Great video. I'm just ready for my roof on my first wood kit.
Great work as always, thanks for sharing Jason!...Bill
Thank you so much for watching!!!
Really good Jason. Thanks for sharing!
Your welcome! Thanks for watching!!!
You have a great eye for detail. Thank you
Thank you for watching!!!
This type roof detail is so realistic. But I am not going to let you work on my home roof! 😂
That was great!
Thank you so much!!!
Great technique, Jason! I'm also interested in Asbestos siding and roofing! That material
was used from about the 20s to early 60s. There are many buildings where you can see
it today. Thanks! P.S. Tacky glue also works really well too.
Very nice tutorial with fantastic results. Thanks for sharing with us Jason! Have subscribed you. Definitely like your handiwork.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!!!
great idea love your videos
Thank you so much!!!
Another great video! I'm getting ready to try your method for doing metal roofing :)
Thanks for watching!!!
Thanks for sharing,
Thanks for watching!!!
Jason, after you apply your weathering chalks, do you spray them with a dull cote or something like that to seal them??
Thanks and fantastic work!!!!
Thank you so much Ed!!! No, I do not seal it!
Great video....will have a play around to see if I can recreate your technique at my Dean Park Station UK based layout. Cheers. Dave
Excellent!
Thanks for watching!!!
Nice look. I’m trying this one.
Thank you!!!
Jason,
You cut the strips 3/8", does that represent 30" in HO scale. I model in S and want to convert the proper width to S. Also in another video Iwatched, you used chalk to weather the shingles. Did you use a soft or medium bristle brush?
Thanks. Steve
Great idea! What’s your scale?
This was HO scale.
What is construction paper? It isn't a product that I've heard of before (I don't live on the US) Is it the same as sandpaper?
It is not sandpaper. Maybe look for craft paper at a art supply store.
Jason, what is the material that roof is made of (applying tar paper to)?
Its chip board. I have used card board from cereal boxes before, if you cant find chip board. Michael's craft store sells it.
Got it. Thanks.
Never used pastel chalks do you have to cure them so they dont come off the roof?
I use a lot of pastels for weathering. You dont have to cure them or seal them. They stay on. You should try them. A box of Soft Pastels will last you for years.
@@JasonJensenTrains just got some but shipping issue... Just posted in Overtime Group all the chalks were loose and i have 64 browns not colors. Can they be cleaned?
You can clean them with a paper towel or a stiff brush.
