HomeLink System in your Toyota: How to Sync, Override, and Clear Integrated Garage Remote

  • Welcome to Belleville Toyota!
    In this video, I am demonstrating how to sync, override, and clear the integrated HomeLink system in your Toyota vehicle. This is an excellent and convenient feature, especially for families who have multiple members requiring access to the garage door. This way, after you sync your garage door remote to the HomeLink system inside your Toyota, you will not require the garage remote with you in your vehicle. Depending on your vehicle, this system may be in a different location of the cabin. The LED lights of this system may also appear amber instead of green.
    Please note that this feature is only in select models and trim lines and therefore may not be applicable to your vehicle.
    Looking for an vehicle upgrade with an integrated garage door remote? Call our sales team at Belleville Toyota (613-968-4538) to book an appointment or a test drive!
    We're here for you.

    This is the one that ended up working for me, and this is NOT what the official instructions say. The official instructions say to hit the Learn button, hold the Home Link button for 3 seconds, and then after repeating the process 3 times, it should work. It didn't.
    Hitting the Home Link button 3 times consecutively instantly programmed my 2021 Highlander with two separate garage door systems (one of which is 20 years old).
    Thank you for this!

    • @belletoyota
      @belletoyota  Před 2 lety

      Hi Kandice! Great question. This is NOT in all models. In 2021 RAV4s, the HomeLink system is exclusively on the upgraded rearview mirror, which is not factory installed on all trim lines. It is often added as an accessory on these vehicles, though! Thanks for taking the time to comment.

    • @belletoyota

      Yes, it still operates when the vehicle is not running so therefore it would be the same as having a traditional garage door opener located in the vehicle :) thank you for your question!

      Working when the car is off the worst part about Toyotas homelink system. Our Wrangler has a homelink system also and the vehicle has to be on in order to use the buttons to open the garage. At least gives the feeling of being more secure.

    • @belletoyota
      @belletoyota  Před 2 lety

      Hi Jon! You made need to clear your HomeLink system. You can do this by clicking and holding the 1 and 3 button for about 10 seconds until the LED light flashes rapidly green. Then try to re-program your door. Some garage doors require you to be parked in front of the garage and you press the LEARN button on your actual garage door unit then within 30 seconds, return to your vehicle and click and hold one of the HomeLink buttons until the LED light flashes rapidly green. Here is the link to HomeLink's site: homelink.com/program
      This may be useful for you to troubleshoot as well. I hope this helps!

    Is there a way to temporarily disable it before turning car over to a valet service?

    • @belletoyota
      @belletoyota  Před rokem

      The Toyota app has a Valet mode you can turn on which will disable HomeLink and the multimedia system. An alternative way to set valet mode would be via menu>setup> vehicle>valet mode> enter a code to lock the multimedia and HomeLink. There are also parameters you can set to get alerts if the vehicle were to travel out of the designated area.

Typically the easiest and more common way to program the HomeLink system is by using a remote, however you can also use the LEARN button on your garage door opener while the vehicle is parked in close proximity. After locating and pressing the LEARN button on the the opener itself, make your way back to your vehicle within 30 seconds and click and hold one of the HomeLink buttons until the LED light flashes rapidly green.
