Lanyard loops are still prevalent in the military, which is what the gun was made for. The reason the didn’t make a long slide with a short grip is because it was made for open carry in the military and not for concealed carry.
Why the hell didn’t they just incorporate it into the bottom of the backstrap by cutting a little notch and putting a roll pin through? That way it would be unobtrusive and wouldn’t interfere with any magazines. Probably wanted to spend as little money as possible so they went with that garbage.

Excellent trigger feels wayyyy different than a normal glock, awesome capacity, come with night sights. It's a sick little handgun. Most people are missing the point about the 19X. It was not geared for the civilian market, ie conceal carry. It was developed for a military contract only, not towards civilian carry. If you want to CC then buy a 19 or a 17. The 19X is a military/duty pistol. Dont like it, then dont buy it. You have other options.

Isn’t the commander the full size frame with the shortened slide? Mine is and I love it!
California recently passed a law that whitelists certain guns and only allow those to be bought. It's a great way to ban firearms by saying "hey we allow them" but hoping that manufacturers eventually stop making the model with a updated one.

People say not to and just run with the regular Glock 19 or smaller. That 17 hand grip is real nice but depending how you're carrying it, it will protrude out more than a smaller handgrip. I'd say the 19x is great for Range day or competitions. UNLESS you're talking about vehicle carry, then sure why not?

Glock through in a submission which cobbled together, why not do so. That said every weapon procurement/replacement project in the last 15 years has been skewed and tainted. Honestly the military should just be told by civilian leadership THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE GETTING, FULL STOP PERIOD. It works for police and is among the most popular civilian guns. They should just make a modular G19 frame and call it a day. There is nothing amazing about this gun, they are cutting down sight radius and barrel length while still keeping a service model size frame.

I Live in socal too and have a 19 Gen 5. You can have any gun even guns that are not on the roster with some loop holes. I got mine transfered from an LE friend.
