Half of America liked the Ford F-150 before this recent update, and now the other half is probably going to buy it, too. While it’s not a complete overhaul there are a lot of significant and pretty cool new features to talk about. So why are you still standing there?
Let’s get the Captain Obvious ones out of the way. The exterior has seen some changes to the front fascia that give the F-150 more presence and gravitas. As if it needed it.
There are some changes in the character lines in the sheet metal and the headlights and taillights get a redo.
On the tailgate, there are some cool deets as well.
There are some notches here for C-clamps, a pocket to put your phone, and even a spot for your beer for when you’re done with all that work.
The 12.0-inch touchscreen that you can see from Canada comes standard on the Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. It’s available as an option on the XLT.
The base model gets an 8-inch version. There’s an updated instrument cluster that now gets a 4-inch digital display between the analog gauges that can be upgraded to a fully digital 12.3-inch display. Also, seen from Canada.
The interior looks a lot sleeker and less busy, while still being really usable and functional.
Let’s talk about the recline on these bad boys upfront. Full recline like a first-class seat on Virgin Atlantic to London, folks, for a bit of shut-eye. Another noteworthy addition, this fold-down shifter. That shifter help make room for the optional work surface you can get. Great for folks on the job site using their laptop or who might need to eat on the go.
In the drivetrain department there six options on the F-150 to chose from.
First is a naturally aspirated 3.3-liter V6, a twin-turbo 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, a 5.0-liter V8 that now includes a bump in horsepower (400 hp/410 lb-ft torque) as well as a cylinder deactivation system. A 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost, 3-liter V6 turbodiesel…
And an all-new Hybrid model called the Power Boost pairs the 3.5-liter turbo EcoBoost V6 with an electric motor that can now easily out tow the Ram 1500.
Truly this thing is a monster (430 hp/570 lb-ft torque) Look at those torque numbers. (12,000 pounds max towing). Also, gets a 700-mile range on a tank of gas (25 city/26 hwy). You can get one of these on an XL SuperCrew for a starting price of $41,145.
All engines mate to Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission, which we haven’t had 100% love for in the past especially in the Explorer. Would be nice to get slightly quicker shifts when we’re in manual mode.
I wish we had the hybrid engine to test. But we’ll snag that from Ford next time around.
When it comes to safety Ford’s upgraded there too including the entire Co-Pilot 360 safety suite as an option. Which is a good thing because this thing is big.
Another one of the cool features available now is Ford’s Pro Power Onboard Generator. Basically, you can plug-in appliances to this thing.
It’s got a bunch of plugs in the back. You can get it configured differently for what your specific needs are.
It comes standard on higher trim levels but is only a $750 option on the lower trims, but that’s still an insane value. You can get a 2kw, 2.4kw, or 7.2kw version of it depending on which trim level you buy.
We heard about folks in Texas using this feature when their power went out during the recent storms, and are impressed. This is by far one of the coolest features to get put on any vehicle that I’ve seen in a while.
Ford’s Pro Trailer Backup Assist helps out with towing duties with great camera angles and guidelines. Images are crystal clear.
Pricing on the F-150 two-door issue starts at $28,940. With two half doors on the SuperCab, you’re looking at $33,025. For whole doors in the second row that starting price moves up to $36,650. The FX-4 off-road package adds $1,005 there. On the high end the Limited trim is going to start at $70,825.

I believe the newest change is that the Underbody rust package is standard now.
free of charge
🤣🤣🤣
Yup, had rust 10 miles in. Applied some fluid film. Easy fix
@The Man I think everyone's point is that surface rust is actually showing up extremely faster than it should on a brand new truck.
Not just in the Midwest after winter show and tons of that salt solution starts to do its job.
@The Man I would agree, that's not my issue. this is a brand new truck and most of the rust is on the driveline. Its a shame because my dads 2004 f150 has lest rust than my brand new one.
I have a 2011 F-150 with over 150k miles, and it drives like new. Barely had a thing wrong with it, except for the standard parts that are expected to go out at 100k miles. I'm looking forward to getting my next F150.
2:53 you can see the chin splitter deploying
A super exciting competitor to Ram. Time for GM to try and get back into the ballgame
So good to see you back, Lynn!
Thank you for the shoutout. We Canadians do watch your channel. Keep up the excellent work.
Also Australians although F150's are as rare as hens teeth here. Last F150 sold by Ford in Australia was in 1989
Base trims start off from $33-36K and then the limited starts off from $70k? that went 0-100 REAL QUICK.
All the trucks around metro Detroit on lots are minimum 40k so don’t get hopes up hahah
Base trim 2-door, 6.5' bed starts at 28k.
Trucks are only as expensive as you make them. Options like crew-cabs, 4x4, and v8s are all expensive, and often unnecessary.
It all depends on your lifestyle. My minimum spec truck for what I do is about $45k. Thats a supercab 4x4 with the 3.5 and the tow package for my RV. Now do I need 4x4? Probably not. but id rather not get stuck up the mountain getting firewood if it were me.
Fun fact: the new infotainment screen is not only visible from Canada but was also developed there by QNX.
💙🇨🇦
I don't want Canada to see what I'm doing
Lol this was extremely simple yet funny if we get the reference
Awesome review, Lyn
Bring Phone as a Key from the Lincoln’s, Mach E and Escape.
Yup. This is probably going to be my next vehicle in like 4 years when they are in my price range.
Good to know thebase instrument cluster on the 2021 F-150 has finally caught up with my 16 Focus
Very nice review! 👌
Great review!
You forgot the bottle opener lol
V-8 seems like the sweet spot, it would be my choice for durability as well.
Happy Birthday, Lyn! 🎉🎂🤸💐🎈
Is it the camera angle or can she really just barely see over the dash?
Can someone please tell me which color is this? The Race Red? Or the Rapid Red? In certain angles it looks like either. 🙄
Happy Birthday to my favourite auto reviewer, Lyn! 🤩😃😊
How the hell do you know her birthday...stop simping.
All those measurements on the tailgate 90% of buyers won't use lol
dang you're being quite generous with that 10%.
but 90% of the buyers will show it off to the other New Balance dads!
C'mon, who doesn't want to know how wide their butts are when you sit on it.
@@boy638 Id rather not be reminded of that, thanks
90% of truck buyers these days don't use the tailgate or bed of their trucks at all. Just a bunch of pavement princesses with oversized cabs and undersized beds :/
Nice truck. I remember my old black and white tv with rabbit ears in college had 12” screen. I drive a 2018 with a 2.7 turbo and it’s a great truck, I’ll go for the hybrid next time
Which varient is this lariant base ?
so i have a 2021 with the 2.7 ecoboost i get 23mpg city (in normal driving mode and not being a hog on the pedal) I cant see paying almost 20k more for this hybrid that adds 2mpg
I am happy with my lifted 2016 model. I’ve thought about taking on a new build with a newer one but for the price it’s hard to justify.
Same I still have my 2013 xlt
When I was a kid my old man had a early 80s F250 regular cab XL with a 300 straight 6 .
Four speed manual
It had a heater and an eight track
I was told rear bumper was an extra lol
Mom dad and 3 kids was a tight fit
Things sure have changed
These modern trucks are really nice
And those price tags are really getting up there
Just a thought move the shifter to the column and than you can lay it flat without a power button
I’ve seen marketing focus group results for this kind of decision in a different trunk line. Very few (percentage) customers want column shifters it turns out. It is combination of things. The majority wants a shifter where Ford chose to put it here. The second largest group wants a button or knob, as long as the transmission is not a CVT. I don’t really understand the dislike of the steering column shifter, but it definitely exists. Taking it a step further, I saw some comments indicating a strong dislike of a column shifter but a desire for paddle shifters behind the wheel. You could probably guess the demographic that indicated that, and how they would use the truck.
My soul bleeds for the cost of replacing that shifter motor when it burns out. Motorized and technology everything isnt always a good idea.
It is on the column if you dont get that option XD
@@chriss6356 Ford doesn't give you the table with a column shifter however.
@@nickzalan4762 yea I know. I decided to get the one without the folding shifter and table just because I can already see it breaking 😂
I talked about the Rust under my NEW 2021 F-150 . Recently i FIXED it - 80,000 $ and had to go to work
Wish they had the 3.3 in the stx package
I wanted 1.21 Gigawatt
My mom sent me an article about people powering their house with the F-150 hybrid
I doubt they were powering their house... Not enough amps to do that..
Perhaps they ran an extension cord from the truck inside the house to a power strip or something...
Looks beast 😍
The Coyote V8 sounds the best once the pedal goes down 😎. Go ahead, fight me.
Have one
I kinda like silverado & F-150 is great too
What ever toyota is planning for Tundra it better be setting new benchmark.
Diesel option!!! I like it!!!
Great review! Went and looked on Sunday when Dealership is closed cheapest one they had was an XLT and it is 43,700 because it has options also they have 3 Lariat that average around 57000 2 Platinum that sticker for around 71000 or so and a King Ranch and Limited that are around 73000 or so Very Expensive! If you going the full Luxury route the King Ranch has the nicest Interior color wise as well also I prefer the Platinum it pretty much has the Limited features for around 5000 less!
I like it
😍😍😍
Can I have that truck with 6 doors? So 6 family members can sit at once? Or theyre custom made?
Put that hybrid engine in the new bronco
Is it just me, or does Ford seem to come out with a new F150 like every other year?
Every 3-4 model years they have either a face lift or new generation as seen here.
Grilled cheese made me hungry
Amo a Ford e a f 150
0:48 You could make Tik Toks putting your phone there.
Dont give them ideas
Way to much wiring and electrical systems to cause issues. The way ford engineers things, I can just see something stupid like the gear shift motor shorts and blows the computer out costing 3,500 for replacement.
Has the death wobble been resolved?
What about transmission shifting issues?
Undercarriage rust problems?
Is this another one of those engines with a belt driven oil pump?
Does it not have a plug yet?
@Garrett Noel there is a plug-in variant? The hybrid doesnt have one to my knowledge.
No plug in hybrid variant. All electric coming soon.
Watching this makes me want a Rivian R1T even more.
Does R1T have the lay-flat seat? I hope it does.
@@umah. ...do people really need that to take a nap?
@@khadijokwabena9737 I didn't say it was for taking a nap.
@@umah. 😏😏😏
The shifter is so stupid, even Ford uses a column shifter on the F250 since those are normally always work trucks.
Column shifters are stupid.
@@MarkRenn Stick shifters are stupid, just press a button, turn a dial, or say "F150 SELECT PARK"
@@Thoughmuchistaken Buttons and dials are stupid. I want touchscreen gear controls in the infotainment!
@@MarkRenn Not at all. Column shifters, particularly gated ones, are the most intelligent form of shifter there is, and there several reasons.
-For starters, it's more space efficient, allowing you to elimination a center console, if desired, or just simply clearing up the center console for other features.
-Another reason, and more importantly, it's right by your hand, so you can easily see it and operate quickly.
-Another one, and easily the most important of all, is they work with feel and muscle memory, which is import to secondary motor operation. Instead of having to look down and see what gear you're in, your body just knows where everything is at and where things are supposed to be. Basically, Instead of having to think about it, you just do it, allowing you to focus on more important tasks. It actually increase safety and helps the driver better operate the vehicle.
These are reasons police agencies require automakers to including column shifter for police spec vehicles. This is why work vehicles, generally, have them, and why less "bourgee" versions of the F150 still offer it, because fleets much prefer it.
@@nukewiller4083 We're going to have to agree to disagree. I see NOTHING intelligent about column shifters. Your reasoning doesn't fly with me. Sorry.
WHAT ARE YOU WEARING??
3:27 did she say twerk numbers🤣
This truck looks absolutely amazing, and the front folding seat would be amazing…
Unfortunately the price makes it an instant non buy. Wouldn’t consider it unless i could get it for sub 40k.
You are not getting ANY truck with all those features for sub 40k. I have specd them all. This is not 2010. These trucks come with lots of goodies.
#perfection
Why is nearly every 1/2 ton truck I see have a 5ft bed it's useless if you use the truck as a truck you can't even close the tailgate on basic loads like a 4 wheeler or even a couple fishing rods say you have a tonneau cover. Not to mention on a crewcab it looks disproportionate
Host is a cutie pie 🥧😍💕
Wait until you see one of their videos with Micah in it!
Is she a canadian?? I thought she is american
Work surface or diaper changing station 😄
Anyone catch the temperature setting on the AC? Nice.
This is the most elegant vacuum we could possibly have on the street. It should be useful while mitigating the unnecessary burden of workers if the purpose was wisely shifted.
So this definitely tells me that I am not in the market for a truck. All of those features sound nice but I am not interested in any of them XD
Yea makes my bare bones 2014 look ancient. I just see a lot of things to break then nice features
@@btbbelesky more fancy = more fixables
wow
By no means is this a bad review, but just give this truck to a work crew for a few days and shoot some video.
You’ll immediately realize what’s good and bad about it. And it will give Ford better feedback to improve the design.
You can talk about max towing capabilities but I’m sure a 3.5EcoBoost hybrid or diesel will tow MUCH better than let’s say a Chevy V8 even though they tow nearly the same amount.
Just my $0.02. I can’t wait for the Lightning to come out as I love my F-150 as a daily and fun truck to have for surfing and projects. But 15mpg is absolutely terrible.
BRO THATS THE CAR FROM ROCKET LEAGUE
You can’t go wrong with it, fuck it iSOLD!
Chevy enthusiasts, i respect so much the chevy badge also i grew with chevy’s trucks around the family, grand pa, uncle etc. but like everything else, always will be other options, to me Ford is nothing more than , practicality, modern, efficient, and they were the pioneers of transportation and pick up trucks...
4:27 Tesla Model 3
Nice truck. But too bad there is a really dangerous recall on the steering right now. They are advising not to drive the vehicle until repaired.
I have a Lego Ford F-150 Raptor. It’s orange.
With $4-5.00 Gas coming by the end of the year...no thanks!
Btw, a great presentation by Lyn
Thanks Joe.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰🤩🤩👍

Might be true, but with trucks now acting as the family hauler, they along with SUVs have taken a big bite out of the minivan market. Good efficiency, plenty of space, great tech and comfortable/capable ride all make them popular. No shame in choosing one if it meets your needs.
@@ALMX5DP I honestly just can’t believe pricing. Around me in metro Detroit you can’t touch a new truck for under 40k. Toddler and up makes sense but can’t go wrong with a nice suv or van during baby stages. So much stuff with a baby and I would be annoyed hauling it in the bed all the time
@@btbbelesky true, I have similar opinions and think a minivan is still the best family hauler around. But people have their preferences and many minivans or midsize SUVs cost a similar amount anyways, so some may feel the added capability is worth it to them.
@@ALMX5DP I agree on the mini van 100% after having my son last year. I sold my smaller extended cab f150 and got a Ford Flex. Best decision for ease of family hauling now. I just borrow my moms truck or rent one on that rare occasion I need one. I loved the truck but no getting around a full size is huge and I love how easy the flex is going to doc appointments, errands etc. I wouldn’t mind another truck at some point but defiantly don’t miss it like I thought
@@btbbelesky we also have very small discounts where I live in Colorado, but a $180 one way ticket to Kansas City got me $14k off msrp on my then-new 2018. No sense in buying local if the economy is strong where you live. That being said, 2021 F150s won't be discounted much since they're brand new. I'll keep driving my 2018 until I can get a good deal on the F150 hybrid with generator mode
That truck is fugly also easily seen from Canada
More stuff to break $$$
this is an ad not a review
Sorry KBB, this lady tries hard but it's not the same. Bring Mica back!
Trucks are getting so expensive. For what I paid for my 3 bedroom 1700 sq ft house in 2015 I could only buy 2 loaded Limited F-150’s.
With how big it is and the plugs and sleeping accommodations its basically a house now.
that antenna...
2 recalls so far on the 2021
1 can kill you ,the steering wheel locks and you can’t move it while driving.
Great job Ford
To u turn the f-150 easy full lock wheel left or right then smash the accelerator 🤣 newer models turn off traction control 🤣
I watch Micah...
Complete with more rust underneath than a 10 year old truck. Ford quality
Oh, thats normal surface rust, according to ford 🤣
imagine what it would look like if it were in New England
Love that look, Lyn. Especially those pants... Lol
What's wrong with this woman...
That homeless look is getting old
Sorry demonstration not good
I need Andrew Yang now
😂😂😂
KBB why do you use Lynne for videos like this???? No one can take her seriously reviewing trucks. Not a toxic masculinity thing. She is just awful reviewing trucks.....
whatever
This woman is trying way too hard to be 21 again
For 56k for a XLT Trim NO ! NO !! HELL NO !! I'LL Lease a RAM 1500 CLASSIC FOR 36K with 4x4 and a HEMI. V8.
36k gets u a tradesman v6 here in georgia
They ruined the V8 with that stupid cylinder deactivation.
from what i'm hearing ford got it right, no one even notices it.
and going from a chain to a belt-driven oil pump. Yeah, now the only long-term reliable F-150 engine is the base 3.3l v6.
@@dave3682 stop, it’s a Kevlar oil belt. It’s not going to break
I'm going to pass...I'll just buy a NEW HOUSE ...Thanks !
Way too expensive. $40k out the door for a BASE model crew cab. The truck market has gone absolutely insane. $40k for a well-equipped model is one thing, but either the base models have to be cheaper or start offering more things as standard. It’s really way out of hand at this point even with incentives
Well, 20 or 30 years ago, a loaded truck was around $40,000. Quick inflation adjustment, that's about $60,000-$70,000 today, which means prices have actually been steady with inflation. Keep in mind that trucks from yore just weren't as nice, they didn't have as many features, they weren't as capable, they didn't have the same level of safety. In fact, you couldn't even get a 4 door.
And production efficiency and technological advancements mean the prices should be going down, not up, nor steady. The current prices are much too high for what you get at each trim level. If the base crew/4x4 is going to start at over $30k, it should be equipped like a >$30k vehicle, not like some $20k vehicle. The prices are much too high.
@@gothops154 The market sets the prices, not production efficiency. If buyers have $XX,000 to spend, then competing producers will try to offer the most they can for that price. It's that simple. If GM can one up Ford for the set price and make a profit, they will.
The rest of your comment completely ignores what I first said, and is just arbitrary and baseless nonsense. They aren't equipped like $20,000 vehicles, and too high for what? They sell, which is all that matters.
@@AkioWasRight overpriced.
70 grand for a truck? Yikes,
Pick up trucks are the new status symbol
Just like BMW was in the early 90s
And how electric vehicles will be in the near future
70 grand for a fully-loaded truck that literally drives itself. No ones forcing you to spend that much, they start at 28k.
you mean
Diesel for sure. No clue why anyone buys these things in petrol
Be a sheep, buy a truck.
It's a peace of shit. My friend bought one and it's start Rusting 2021 gut more rust then 8 year old truck.
Remember when trucks were for hard working men? Not pavement princesses..?
Who is this lady could you find anyone more awkward??
Frankly, the previous model looked better. This is ugly square design. Well only interior is OK, still far off the RAM.
No thanks I will just keep driving my 85 f150 with a straight 6cyl.
A lot of cheap plastic still
