- I spent some of the Xmas break writing a step-by-step setup guide for the OpenIPC wiki page - which will hopefully makes things a little easier for people.
You can see it here github.com/CurryKitten/wiki/b...
Don't forget though, if you find something new, or different or have a comment to make about another type of camera or groundstation - don't be shy, jump in and edit the document to improve it.

cool idea, I will try to use it with my fpv drone, will be following your instructions, fascinating ideas
Have fun!
Very much appreciated, that was definitely a big missing piece in the OpenIPC story. Thanks a lot!
No worries - hope it helps
This will help so many people adopt this new system. It could mean the difference between success and failure for such a new entrant.
ssc338q/415 now have 1080/60 binning driver, with "zoom" effect. You need 1.8 lens for compensation this.
Kudos to you, Wayne! You said you’d develop a tutorial, and you came through! Enormous amount of work you did, so THANK YOU! As people use your tutorial, I hope they add clarifying bits on the process. I’ve read through your entire document, and I THINK I understand it, but there will likely be some “gotchas” along the way. It would be nice to pair this with a “clean” video tutorial.
I decide to make the Ruby FPV, tactical ground station system project, at first.
And yes, the 1. reason was the clear and good step by step documentation , wich is allmost noob proof.
Second reason was the multifunctional and supercool GCS Tablet. And third reason was all the possibillities I have, with all the raspi sensors and modules on the market.
After that, I´ll give OpenIPC a try.
The guide is much appreciated. I'll be flashing my nvr board soon. I was just compiling the hi3536dv100 firmware last night. I'm mid-way though adding packaging for userspace rtl-sdr and libusb for the rtl-sdr radio dongles (which is to say, it sort of works if I do a lot manually).
Thanks Wayne. Happy new year, and look forward to part 3.
Me too - it'll be coming eventually, got a few more bits to take care of first
Great to know, Wayne! 😊
Happy new year! And stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Happy new year!
happy new year.
I had read it after Mario had posted a link.
Great introduction
Happy new year! Cheers
THANK YOU!
You're welcome!
Thanks for the guide! Just wondering where sandbox-fpv would be used. It's something Mario comments sometimes.
Honestly - i don't know, it's not something I've come across yet... which might just mean nobody has written it down yet :)
Happy New Year.
Happy new year!
Happy New Year
Happy new year!
this is fantastic, thanks a lot
You're very welcome!
Have you tried RubyHD?
Allready ordered some Orange Pi Zero...😍
@@psikodelriot6754 Greatt!Aftet trying out, please share your experience,,
RubyHD was on my list of things to try - but it's probably not going to happen now. It's a case of not having the time to do everything, and putting my time in where the project is Open Source.
@@CurryKitten That's totally fine,I was actually asking this because it seemed, out of all the diy digital fpv system, It is the easiest to do as a noob. Thanks for all the things you do for the hobby :)
@@CurryKitten what exactly does "Open Source" mean to you? Ruby is open to 3rd party developers. It's just that it's not a free for all wild west with random clones/variations, as I do want controll of what goes into the surce code, for quality control reasons...
Anyway, it's your time, but if "Open Source" is a more strong reason to try a FPV system than what it actually does and how good it is, well :) ...
