"Let me remind you that just because someone looks like a First Grade teacher does not mean they're not capable of first degree murder" is actually insane
He's something I just realized. The very definition of jazz music is imperfection. Not in a technical sense, but because it's very improvisational by nature. There is a structure, yes, but it's how you deviate from and come back to that same structure that makes jazz so interesting and beautiful. Funnily enough, the same is true for rubies. Rubies are actually not "perfect" crystals. They have traces of other atoms - rubies are basically crystalline corundum, AKA aluminum oxide, that is doped with atoms of chromium. By itself, it is a colorless crystal. It's the doping element that gives it it's beauty. Both are imperfect, but both are beautiful nonetheless. And that's a genuine compliment for Amanda.
One of the reasons Shayne is such a talented performer, he articulates what Pat is doing as he is leaving with the knife for the benefit of us watching because he doesn’t know if the cameras are actually capturing it and it will make the cut for CZcams.
I love how this implies that Shayne is perfectly capable of refraining himself from laughing at his own jokes, he just choses not do it most of the time.
"A mistake he's made 12 times before but this was the final straw" Genuinely don't think there are more than 2, maybe 3, people in smosh that are funnier than Ian when he really tries. Both his roasts and his dark humor are on a level of their own.
Shayne, Tommy, Spencer, Courtney, Ian, fox force five of funny. Add Saige, she wasn't funny but was a good host of board AF. Add Damien, he would be a good host for video games. That's all the on-screen talent you need for a minimal viable version of smosh IMO. Dial back the skits because they do poorly anyway and pump out easy stuff that does well. NorthernLion can do multiple videos per day and stream by himself while being entertaining and have a toddler and have tree-trunks for legs thanks to cycling. A dozen+ people have no excuse not to be able to pump out at least as much content. The main problem smosh has IMO is that the content-per-head is insanely low.
I just imagine “dead as a bag of buttons” becoming a legit saying people use and everyone thinks it’s just another old timey saying from the past but no, it came from this.
The entire video I was trying to figure out what Shayne's character would be and had settled on maybe an agent or casting director and something like he did with as the Defy era CEO, Benoit Blanc never even entered my mind. But the second he said "Bah Gawd" the realization hit me of who he was LMAO
She looks like welch's jelly mascot peanut lucy in Beetlejuice. she's perfect, like a Florida grown orange or the flute. he saves everyone than pulls out a knife.
@tappy8741 eh...he hasn't really been funny for a few years, tbf I don't watch smosh much anymore cause alot of them arnt that funny, I really only enjoy Shayne and sometimes Damien,
@@lordpepper6932 I think he was depressed a few years ago and seems to be coming out of it recently. He's been a lot funnier lately at least, courtneys funeral comes to mind. Courtney is also funnier now. Damien seems to have hit a late-onset-emo phase but is improving from a dip last year. Angela can be funny when she's not overcompensating by being loud. Amanda can do really good bits (again see courtney's funeral). I've seen Arasha do one good bit in the teletubby video, otherwise she's not made a good impression. Chanse can be okay. Tommy is good as ever, Spencer is good, Jackie is decent. Olivia is mostly not funny, the best I've seen her is when she's being real like in the TNTL where they did stand up and she talked about therapy. Other than a decent augustus impression and a few decent bits recently she sticks with the same no-effort fail-the-bit-on-purpose nonsense. That's a summary of the past few years as I see it anyway.
I think this was the best character done in general for it. Other than Lisa from HR standing up. Obviously she has no functioning legs and is adhered to the chair.
I'm so proud of shayne for going an entire 5 minutes without laughing at his own joke
Growth arc
There's a suspicious cut at 4:35 where I suspect there might've been a laugh cut for time...
I think it helps that it is scripted, much easier to stay in character if you have time to prepare!
Shayne? That's Benoit Blanc.
Yeah the cuts might have hidden a smile or smirk, but it's already quite the progress compared to 40% of his jokes being himself laughing about them.
Probably one of my favorite funeral bits now

Shaynoit Blanc is the perfect name for the character oml
Shayne really needs to get movie roles. He’s incredible!
I can not believe they had the budget to get Daniel Craig to do a Smosh video. Truly Smosh wants the best for the fans.
Ian's really good at staying in character, that's what I learned from this episode
The fact that they we’re building this up and decided to have Amanda’s funeral reveal the truth seemed fitting 😂👀😂
Shayne is getting so much better at doing a character based bit and not breaking
When he said it’s someone in the room, I literally was like “oh it’s saxophone guy”
Sax man must be a real silent guy in the Smosh family if they legit was shook by a prop knife
such a well written bit by shayne, not a lot of guys could do comedy, write and act, the holy trinity XD
Amazing impersonation, and amazing jokes, but the best part about this is that this might finally kill the saxophone guy joke
