    I really like buttons down back planter embraces joint instead of hiding. Planters match your overalls on! So cute. You do great work. I aspire to do something’s like you.

    I love watching you I’ve learned soooo much. I love your personality and I feel we have a lot in common. I also have a special needs daughter and I handbuild a lot. My teacher said it’s my calling but I’m learning to use the wheel. So thank you so much

      Awww, thank you so much! ❤️ Glad youre enjoying the videos. Our children are so special, aren't they? I love handbuilding. Wheel-throwing bowls is so much easier than handbuilding them, though, so it's good to learn wheel throwing for that reason alone. 😀

    The main reason you sand the bottoms is that they are not glazed on midfire pots and if there is even the slightest bumps it will scratch the wood surface of the user and that will cause problems.

    • @WildAcornsArtStudio
      @WildAcornsArtStudio  Před 2 lety

      Yep, you are correct. :-) Burnishing also helps seal the clay.

      Hello. I did make a video on how to make clay stamps. If you click on my channel, you should see the video. Not sure what you mean by square flower pots. The purse planters I made are two sheets of clay pressed together at the sides. So there's only a front and a back. I stamp the designs on before I attach the pieces of clay. Thanks for watching!! 😊

    • @WildAcornsArtStudio
      @WildAcornsArtStudio  Před 3 lety

      I may. Thank you. I keep changing how I make them to find a simpler way. It's basically just two slabs of clay layer over a ball to stretch them out, and then pressed together. I add the tail and beak after the body is leather hard. 😀

      I made a video of making the hanging redbirds. I'll see if I can post a link, but you should be able to find the video if you do a search for, 'Redbirds'.

    Lisa, you are VERY talented! I love your whimsical painting of flowers and your red birds are very cute. How do you keep them puffed out until they dry? Do you use newspaper or balloons -- if newspaper, do you let it combust away while firing? Would love to see a video on how you make them. I'm a hobby potter and would like to make some little ones for my tree outside my window. Keep up the videos as I think we all find them inspiring and your work is very unique and beautiful.

    • @WildAcornsArtStudio
      @WildAcornsArtStudio  Před 3 lety

      Awww, thank you so much! 💓 After cutting out both sides of the bird, I press the clay over a ball to puff them out. I allow them to set up a little bit, before I score the edges and seal them together. :-) I don't use newspaper on them. Thanks for watching!!!! :-)

    I noticed you didn't glaze the inside of your planter,wondering if you need to or if you can just underglaze or leave it just clay. I'm just starting out in pottery and trying to learn different things. If you could help that'd be appreciated.

      Hello! I see this question all the time, and honestly I don't think it matters. When I'm shopping planters at the store, I see them both ways. I think it would help to keep them water tight. Good luck with your pottery journey. Remember to have fun with it and enjoy the process. :-)

    Hi Lisa. I enjoy seeing what fellow potters are making! I heard you say you are planning a show in Indiana in September… which one? I am a current, and native, Hoosier potter and just getting into shows this year myself. Recently I made a poinsettia bowl set using the “watercolor” technique I watched you do and it was a very popular sell! Sold what I had and got back orders! It helped me lessen my load of shelved bisqueware. 🤗 Thanks for sharing!
