Just a follow up to my comment of two years ago, it goes to show that with a brilliant song and brilliant cover artists songs like this can’t fail. Has everybody heard Pearl Jam’s version…..absolutely fantastic.
One of the things I love about Heart doing a cover is that they dont take it too far away from the original. They play the song with their own strengths but don’t turn it in to something that it’s not. It’s really brilliant cover work.
It is crazy, no matter who sings this song it is one of the most powerful songs in rock history! It speaks volumes of the quality of Pete Townsend's writing!
When Nancy Wilson raises her guitar upside down over her head at the end of every Heart Concert she is saluting the crowd for their support all these years.....It is the most heartfelt thanks any Rocker can give.....Classy is not a strong enough word to describe what she does.....
I agree but a very close 2nd place to Annie Haslam from Renaissance. Both clearly divas. Ann Wilson can conjure up that fierce edge and shade where Annie Haslam has the stellar operatic range. Like when do these women breathe? Some people's lungs just aren't human and if we know better than to worship Taylor Swift and clones, it is thanks to the existence of legit goddesses like these two

I became a Who fanatic 50 years ago. Tommy did me in, 1969. Never thought I could get into a cover of their music, but Heart nailed it. Anne brings the raw edge to the vocals that was in the original, and takes me back to 1973 at the Fabulous Forum.
¡¡¡¡I´m absolutely IMPRESSED!!!! They "nailed" it. Ann´s vocals are particularly astounding (people tend to forget how incredibly good Daltrey was, more so during the early 70´s, and how difficult it is to properly sing THE WHO´s great material).

Saw them in 2013 with Simon Townsend. This was the last song of the night. How it was possible for Ann to have enough gas left in the tank to nail this song still has me in awe. Supernatural. You will live forever ladies xoxo.

Many years and my sister and I would go to see Heart and she would only hope that they would play this song. When heart played it, she would be in her glory. Now, every time I feel it for her since she died 5 years ago. It makes me cry to hear it. I miss my big sister.

Thanks be to the Goddess, I was wrong to be skeptical. And then, there's this... my absolute favorite Who song... and I've been slayed. One massive, unstoppable head to toe goosebump, and I'm done for. Heart can do no wrong - EVER!

When I was younger my friends and I walked around Busch Gardens in the rain after going multiple times on all the wet rides, singing this at the top of our drunken voices! It brought back amazingly good times feelings! So,I cranked it LOUD! Probably pissed the neighbors off?! Tonight after a few, I am cranking it into my headphones and LOVING IT! Friday I'll plug my bass in and play along and REALLY piss the neighbors off!!!!!
