Just renovating all of Willow Creek would be fun. Maybe taking a break to do other series for a bit, then doing the same in Oasis Springs? Since of all the worlds the basegame ones need the most renovating and the more recent worlds are blessedly much better.
I really enjoyed watching this. I get a little bit tired of watching the grand, fantastic renovations - somehow this more realistic and cheap renovation was a lot more satisfying. It actually made me feel like logging into game and play! Which I haven't done for a month or so. Thank you, proud Pansy - you are well appreciated and entitled to be proud!😝
When Satch said he didn't know why people put bookshelves in their builds, I'm just like 👀. 😂 I literally use bookshelves in every single build I use because it's like a "just in case" scenario because bookshelves have multiple uses for my Sims. I also don't decorate the walls with decorations in my builds because I force my Sims to either paint or take pictures and fill the walls with those as decorations. I also decorate the exterior with plants and planters just because I use gardening as another income anyway, so why not just decorate with those. I don't think Satch would like my builds as much😂.
Those houses are inspired by the “shotgun” houses in New Orleans. In fact, Willow Creek was modeled after the city. Especially if you read the descriptions of the towns.

Mine was Raffia Quinta because I was using my sister's copy of the Sims 4 back then before I got mine and despite wanting to play on willow creek, every single house there is occupied, and the only unoccupied housing lot for a starter house are the ones in oasis springs: an empty lot and that lot. And I don't know how the build mode worked yet so I obviously picked Raffia Quinta. That was way back before Newcrest was a world.
I bulldozed all the bad houses and I either built houses or downloaded ones from the gallery because I couldn't deal with the ugliness 😂 But now Willow Creek looks lovely.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but I put on this series to fall asleep to. Your voice is just so calm and sweet, plus the visuals aren't overly complicated or crazy and the builds always come out pretty. Keep up the great work!
I love doing renos. It has helped me to be a better builder. I do the outsides as well as the insides. I have turned this entire neighborhood into an area for occult Sims to live. All the houses have been done in black, white and gray and then a few color accents. I try not to make too many changes to the actual structure, at least to the outside, but then will add stuff like spandrels, porches, etc. I think if you want to become a better builder, doing this and watching videos is your best bet!

I like the side extension and using a different exterior wallpaper 😊. I always add a wall to enclose the main bedroom too. Very odd why it’s left open! 😮
I think people add bookshelves in their homes in the sims mainly for gameplay, reading books is good for leveling up some skills. That's at least why I always do it and why someone like James Turner does. But I have some cc bookshelves that can be entire bookshelves with one book item or magazine or something decorative.
I agree about most people not doing the outsides much. I uploaded an unfinished burners and builders reno, and it did much better on the downloads and likes than I expected. (It didn't have terrain paint, and the landscaping was just me brainstorming.) When I looked at all the other builds near it, I had done a LOT more work to make it interesting. (Rotated the lot, added interesting ceiling details, attempted to pick an energized color palette etc) And I uploaded it unfinished because I am using my own "oasis springs gym" that build out of frustration/inspiration from messing with it. But I feel like stuff is a little safer it I save it to the gallery? That might be foolish thinking.
It's not that peoples want a book shelve, but more like it's a necessary thing. Also, having a computer, even the cheapest/crappiest one, is also a requirement for any Sim's house. Use some *debug* stuff. They are essentially free.
If you delete the "side" of the stairs you'll get a few hundred simoleons back, always useful in a budget build. Just a some lavander on each side to hide the "holes" underneath.
I really would appreciate keeping the horrendous rectangle form because it is a version of sims 3 starter home trailer house, and remind me with the poor sim having the challenge of starting with this home 💗

That was a great idea for the realism rental lots, let me try to live in a house without changing ANYTHING 🤣 Also, for extra realism you wouldn't be able to sell any old furniture, instead store it in a basement or attic 🥰

At first, I got annoyed with the drab builds in game. But after realizing I love to renovate (not build from scratch), I try to see the default builds like they made them crappy so we can upgrade them as we play and progress the households. Still... they are a true eye sore. Very uninsinspired.
Same here. Love decorating and not building - sans maybe an extension or reconfiguring some walls - so I love taking these milquetoast builds and changing them up. They're so boring, they're sitting there asking for it lol
I'm currently on my very first family with eight people, and decided to try and squeeze eight people inside of it. For the record... I don't recommend doing what I did.
I hate Crick Cabana. Every time I start a new game with this lot, my Sim acts like they can’t get inside to do things (like cook or use the toilet) I end up bulldozing it and placing another copy of Crick Cabana down to make it functional again.
EA's rule seems to be "make every EA build as basic as possible" and sure, I see a fair share of wildly, overly decorated houses on the gallery that give me a headache and are borderline unplayable, but this is minimal to the extreme. The layouts make no sense, there is zero decoration and the bedroom always has the same bed, nightstand, lamp and dresser. I recently decorated a house with basegame items only, and it turned out fine (except it was an AI generated floorplan, so you enter the house through the master bedroom and make your way through every room downstairs, including two bathrooms and the dining room, to get to the stairs that finally at some point lead you into the upstairs kitchen. Also the second floor balcony has a door in the surrounding fence. Lovely)
lol the legacy of builders forgetting to put an indoor trash can in their builds continues. Your wall colors confuse me a bit, Satch, but otherwise this looks pretty good. 👍

I love doing renos. It has helped me to be a better builder. I do the outsides as well as the insides. I have turned this entire neighborhood into an area for occult Sims to live.
