@@DIYSomethingSGCheers!Im East asian,I very like Arowana fish pet, very like this filter!
These videos are great and super helpful! Thank you so much for posting. Looking forward to #5!
Thanks mate, I have a couple more build videos in the bag just haven't had the time to edit them. Will do my best to get them out!
@@DIYSomethingSG Your videos have definitely inspired me. Problem is, I started sourcing acrylic yesterday, and from what I'm finding, it would be MORE expensive for me to build a standard 55 gallon tank than it would be to buy one from one of the bigger name brands! I'm seriously in shock over that...
@@ProVisionColor yeah acrylic is 2-3 times more expensive than glass. but once bonded you won't have to worry about leaks, unlike the silicon on glass joints
With 3 pumps u can consider getting ur self a sump with a few modifications with the cover with more media filter more clear the tank is
yeah being my first DIY tank I wasn't too confident in managing the plumbing to the sump
plus I was reserving the area in the cabinet below for containers to age my water for water changes
maybe next build I'll sump if the bioload requires, right now with 1 aro ths overhead filter is quite plenty
Wow elegant
this should be a reef tank for real
A 6ft reefer would be amazing
But I don't know anything about reefing other than the $upkeep would be massive😅
Very nice work . How you did the mask for the top in aquarium the line with white and gold
Thanks bro. The white & gold trim lining the top and bottom of the aquarium was purchased from Taobao, a Chinese website, from the same seller that I bought the base cabinet from. Dimensions were customizable and so was the colour
Do you have any diy canister filter ?
@@user-gi7qn2cm3w I've never DIY canister filter before. Might not be as easy. But if you do it do share!
What kind of pump is best to use for trickle filter
Any type of pump really. I have since changed pump to DC type where there’s a controller to vary the flow rate. Much quieter and produces way less heat than these cheapo ones in video. I’ll do an update on this, pros cons and all 👍🏻
I think your filter system should be display cause It was beatiful
Yeah possibly, but I found it a little distracting so decided to make a cover to blend it against the wall :)
Very useful. When need to change the video, have to move the cover out and change the filter?
Thanks! Yup, just have to shift out the cover a bit, and remove the top drawers for filter sponge maintenance. Will show a clip of this in the next video
Cool , but in my opinion its better to have the pump after the filtration, and having all pumps inside the aquarium without hide the pumps its not very esthetic, you can build something to hide the pumps
This being my first build ever I didn't want to venture into drilling holes, overflows and sump filtration's complicated pipe setup
Maybe the next one
what pump are you using?
in this video not a very good one, it was a Sunsun JGP series, 40W I believe, max 2500L
am currently using Sunsun CN-8500 25W, a DC pump, max 3500L
just ordered and will be upgrading to Sunsun CN-8500 40W in a few weeks, max 6000L
What are you using to glue the acrylic sheet? Tha ms
Acrifix192 acrylic cement. It basically “melts” and bonds the surfaces at a molecular level, essentially making it 1 continuous piece
How much is the cost of the 6mm arcylic sheet?
About SGD$60 for the 5mm acrylic sheets for the filter cover
