- Come with me to a restaurant on the Nile to try Egyptian fattah, a feast of many layers which is eaten all year round, but traditionally eaten here in Egypt on one of Islam's biggest holidays, Eid Al-Adha, which is happening here today in Egypt.

Happy Eid Egyptian ❤🎉
OMG the heat in Egypt right now is brutal. I was in Cairo for the past week and I couldn’t stand the heat, even at night. It’s admirable that you are able to ride on a motorcycle and make these videos. Absolutely love your content and the fact that you are showcasing Egypt to the world
Ah yeah the heat was unbearable last week! It's cooled down a tiny bit, thankfully, but it's still roasting. Summer in Egypt, not my favorite season! 🤣 Thanks dragonz_breathe! 🙏
@@GventuresIt's so weird. You're saying that Cairo "cooled down" and it is more bearable when it's still 39-40 C there. Here in Europe our June was like 22-25 C and now we are suffering from a heatwave that seta our temperatures up to 33 or something and we are dying.
@@ItsFinnAndNacho Lol. Yeah, well, I've acclimated a bit since I've been living here for a few years. But it doesn't mean I like the heat. I try to avoid the hottest parts of the day, but sometimes it's just unavoidable. 33 sounds great compared to the temperatures here, because yeah it hits around 40 every day 😅

It's cool that Egyptian cultural influences is still prevalent in the people and country.
You are the reason why my sundays are not boring anymore… like seriously haha 😅😁 your videos about Egypt are very entertainment, make me want to go there more and more inshallah 🙏🏻🥰🥰
😄Thank you Andre! Egypt awaits you 😎
So glad to hear you’re taking Arabic lessons with a tutor ❤
Yeah I've been taking them for a while now, but not consistently, as there is often a schedule clash. But something is still better than nothing 😊
your arabic is getting better day by day your accent and vocabulary and listening skills are very good right now keep it up
Lol oh I wish that were so! My next video upload (this Friday) you will see that I understand nothing (I went to a market and wow - I didn't understand a word) 😅 But I will keep trying to learn
@@Gventures Don't be too hard on yourself It's normal to feel that way. It's a great practice opportunity to study your mistakes. Keep pushing through, and you'll see improvement with each experience. Looking forward to your next video!
Oh thank you, Gisselle!! Sunday wouldn't be Sunday without one of your videos!!
Today you have made me so nostalgic! Many years ago when I was quite new to Egypt (in the late 1990s), I arranged to meet one of my Luxor friends in Cairo, and that was at a small hotel where I was staying near the river.
Watching this video, when I saw the Cairo Tower in relation to the location of the restaurant you visited, I realised that you must have been in the Dokki area, and this was where my little hotel was situated. Then I saw the actual location in your description, and all the memories came flooding back!
The riverside there is such a great location for a 'welcoming' restaurant like that, and so atmospheric at the same time with its views of the river and the city. I know the music was a little loud for you, but on the video it comes out really quite nicely, I thought.
The dish looked wonderful, and there was certainly plenty to eat... indeed a feast! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I look forward to following your experiences at the Eid Al-Adha celebrations in your next video. I just know that you will have 'jumped in' with enthusiasm, and engrossed yourself in the festivities!!
In the meantime, thank you for this happy video today!

Thank you William! 🥰

But it is an outstanding video as usual.
Your documentaries are automatically put together
You’ll be part of Egypt 🇪🇬 history
Lol what do you mean "more authentic?" There are hundreds upon hundreds of restaurants serving fattah in the Giza and Cairo area that are all very delicious. I had about 5 other restaurants I was considering to film this video at, but I decided on the Nile restaurant because I was in the mood for a view on the Nile on this hot day. Why do you think Al Hussein area is more authentic than other areas? It's not, but I am just curious as to why you think so.
Yeah it was a very hot day, I am from a place in the US that gets to -30 in the winter. So +40 is a lot for me 🤣
The Fattah looks so good.❤

Happy Eid! Thanks for the video GIgi, and stay cool in this heat. Its not only Egypt that has crazy temperatures these days
I did a 4 hour walk across the Nile and walked passed by here 2 days ago. Contemplated going in but eventually decided to go further to Abou Tarek.
Thank you for showing the place.
2 days ago when it was damn near 45 degrees?! You're crazy. Too hot! 🥵🤣 Yeah these places on the Nile are nice, but of course you're going to be paying for the views. Abou Tarek is famous and 10x cheaper for a meal 😅 Only specializing in koshary of course, but a good choice for it
It is Eid morning in USA now. I thought about you and wanted to see if you tried Fatta or not. Here you are❤I hope you enjoyed it. You brought tears to my eyes as you reminded me of the best 5 years ever in my fine arts college in Zamalek. I had to pass this bridge everyday. The Nile was my favorite thing to start my day. 🥺

That looks delicious! I’m looking forward to my trip in September, so learning about the good things in Egypt. I’ve hear enough about the negatives that alsmot made me cancel my trip. Thank you for your videos! Very illustrative.
Thank you so much! I agree, there are a lot of negative videos on Egypt, it makes me think it's just other "content creators" jumping on the bandwagon and writing titles like "scammed!" to get more views. I mean, sure it exists, but I think it's extremely exaggerated on the internet, and scams exist in many areas of the world. Just gotta be wise and learn to barter when it comes to touristic areas, street vendors and shopping, but that's about it. Locals are very friendly and welcoming, the food is delicious, the music is beautiful, the history endless. It's an incredible country and culture, I love immersing myself in it. I hope you have a great time in Egypt! ❤ P.S. Bring a hand fan for the heat, as it will still be hot in September. Also, it can help keep some pesky flies away (who knew, flies love the desert! 😆)

Your videos are so fun to watch, keep it up! I'm Egyptian but I'm pretty indoorsy so I don't explore much haha, it's fun to explore Cairo from your lens. I live in 6th of October (I think you had koshary once near Al Hosary Mosque right?) and I'm too lazy to go near Giza and Cairo. 😂
Lol, thanks Nour! I've actually never really spent time in 6th of October, because I'm too lazy to go all the way out there too 😅 But I do love Giza and Cairo, and I love exploring your beautiful country. Eid saeed!

😅 Hope you can have fattah again soon!
Omg this was the best! Eid Mubarak Gigi🎉🎉🎉..i am sad you are eating alone. The music is beautiful. "OMG there is a cow in the river". I cracked up..only in misr
Did u ask anyone wth a dead cow is doing floating in the river. Lamb in Egypt is delicious. I have never been a fan of fatteh. Tried it when i was visiting during Eid.Prefer mashawy😊..Had no idea it came in chicken..but prob cuz most cant afford lamb or beef. Lebanese/syrian fatteh is delicious! Babe get some aloe vera for that sunburn!
Lol oh you are sad I am eating alone?! I do not mind eating alone at all! I am a solo traveler Fiola, this is what I do and I LOVE IT!
I didn't bother asking any of the servers why there was a dead cow floating down the river because I know they wouldn't have any idea, they would have just shrugged. It's the first time I have seen that, maybe it has something to do with Eid Al-Adha...a cow escaped and drowned...who knows.
I'm surprised you don't like fattah! It's such a delicious dish. I like all the versions, whether it's Egyptian, Syrian, Lebanese, or any other country's version of it.
By the way, that's not a sunburn! It's just my face getting red from being hot 😆 I'm from a place in the US that gets as cold as -30 or even -40 in the winter. So +40 in Egypt is a bit hot for me. But actually I look more red than I felt hot, because I still chose to sit outside and it was nice.
I just want know where u from?😂
Ur videos about egypt amazing❤
I am from the US. I state that in some of my videos, but not all of them 😊
A beautiful tour do you go to Marsa Matrouh this summer
Thanks! But absolutely not this summer! I'm not driving for hours a day in this heat 😅 The last few days have been between 42 and 45, my phone would overheat, as would my engine and probably also my brain 🤣 But when it cools down, I am considering it. I have many places I want to visit on my bike so it will come down to where I can manage this fall/winter
You really enjoying Egypt

😍 nice episode ... the location and view are great, but this restaurant kinda fancy to eat fataa ... there is another one called "HABAYEB ELSAYEDA" it's local and half or less price this one offer, est. 1979 and start to expand with branches all over cairo and giza recently, but the oldest branch located in sayeda zienab area, maybe you shot another episode there, thanks & happy eid adha Gisselle
Oh thanks man, I definitely know this was a fancy restaurant, and more expensive than normal (it is on the Nile after all), that is why I said exactly that before I even got on the motorbike to drive there. I had several different options and places I could have gone to film this (of course), there are hundreds of options in the city and easily more local and cheaper places. But, I felt like going somewhere on the Nile with a view to film, and although this place is quite pricey, it is also very popular, and most of the restaurant was filled with Egyptians (but inside where the AC was, not outside 😅). Thanks for the bike tour! That was a great deal for your meal. Can barely get a burger around here for less than ten bucks. A moment of silence for the poor cow floating down the Nile. I wonder how it got there? 🤔

Being from the Middle East, I highly recommend you wear light cotton clothes or silk that is white. It keeps you cool and blocks the sun. I appreciate you also dressing modest in a Muslim majority country. I love your earrings and eye liner
Thanks! But I don't like white 😅 And I'm too lazy and cheap to go out hunting for silk clothing. It's okay, I've been living here for a few years and manage okay 👍😁
@Gventures girl, I don't like white either, but I wear white tops, not pants, when I visit the Middle East. I nearly died in Dubai one year lol 😆 I dress light when I visit.
@@02Nawal I really don't like white for several reasons. Not only do I not like the color itself, but it gets dirty very easily (especially here in Egypt with the sand and dust and me riding my motorcycle everywhere) and it's also almost always transparent, so you can see right through to your bra or underwear, whatever. Also, like I said, I have been living here for a few years and am okay, I really don't need to wear white to survive the heat and doubt I will be changing my mind about that anytime soon. Thanks for your concern though 🙏
@Gventures I figure Egyptian women wear black for good reasons, right?
@@theoriginalsuzycat No idea. I mean, not all women are wearing black, plenty of women wear different colors, but I would say the majority of women wearing galabeya choose black. I wear black most of the time too though, if you've noticed in my videos. Of course, I'm not wearing a galabeya so it's a lot less cloth. Black draws less attention, it's also harder to see shape or form compared to other colors, that's my best guess.
❤😊

You can use the app 'shazam' to find any song you hear in a video! This song is famous here (there are many beautiful songs and famous artists, of course). This song is by Ahmed Saad (featuring NORDO, Ahmed Zaeem) and the song name is Ya 3araf. You can find it on Spotify and other music platforms
@@Gventures I didn’t think of using Shazam! Great, I’ll try that next time I hear something good in your videos. Thanks for indemnifying this one for me. I need to expand my list beyond Tamally Maak lol!
@@crinoidia 😅Yeah there are so many great artists. Although a bit older (from like the 80's or even earlier), these two artists are big names here and still played a lot: Mohamed Mounir, and Amr Diab. Here's a tidbit: the red sauce is prolly a very new addition to the dish considering tomato crops were introduced in relatively modern times. Same can be said about everyday dishes like bamya or any veggies-in-red-sauce situation. what I believe supports this theory is when you go to el-se3eed you will find that dishes like bamya are not made with red sauce but with tomato-less recipes, and even fattah there doesn't have the red sauce (talking traditionally ofc, you can find burgers in el-se3eed nowadays)
I dunno when tomato came to Egypt because I'm not an expert in history and agriculture, but lots of food eaten in Egypt incorporates tomato sauce now! Koshary, moussaka, mahshy, tagin, fattah, oh well the list is very extensive!
@@Gventures yes ofc, but the really ancient ones (like bamya weeka, which i encourage you to try) or molokheya won't have tomatoes in the recipe for that reason. it's kind of mindblowing but also understandable, take a place like the arab gulf where pretty much every dish incorproates rice but rice was also introduced to them in relatively modern times
@@yahyae420 Yeah I've had both dishes, and they're good! But I'm happy tomato was introduced to Egypt, as I love tomato and the way Egypt has incorporated it into their food. 😏👍There's lots of historical tidbits one could rummage for, I know chicken wasn't in Egypt till sometime around the Middle Kingdom. Obviously, that's a hell of a lot longer ago than the 18th century, but yeah, places changing over time with trade and exposure to different parts of the globe. That's humans for you!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
and by the way: your hair- and overall new style looks nice. May be can do a video on "how to" go for a hairdresser for women (seem to be a bit hidden) in Egypt 😉
You like my hair? I haven't done anything new with it, it's just growing out, I need a haircut! 😅 My secret is....I go to my barber friend to get my hair cut! 😆 I actually made a video about it back when this haircut was quite new for me czcams.com/video/N2LO-CJeb3Q/video.html

Wow, thanks for this! I will put it on my list for next time (already tried the Dahlan coz of you). The food, the music, the prices...all made me longing for Misr again. 27% on top of the menue prices (tax, service) is a bit crazy, but still in total less then i expected from a "nile" restaurant.

Shawerma, hawawshi and its Levant version s , falafel and foul, kebab, katayef, musaka, molokhiya sambosa and many others are originated in Egypt there are 1000yrs old books about cooking written that it is origainlly Egyptian
There are many people that would argue with you about that. I am not arguing that though, because I honestly don't really care what country they came from, 1,000 years ago borders were different anyways, it doesn't really matter as long as it's good food! 😆

Please will you explain in next video what will be temperature in in September. Now a days Eid holidays and children holidays Egyptian flights are very expensive from UK. Therefore off season suits me but I need hot weather as well. Thanks
I won't be making a video solely about temperatures during a certain month, but you can easily find the average monthly temperatures for each city in Egypt on google, I have found the information to be quite accurate. Perhaps flights are more expensive right now because of Eid, but summer is NOT the busy season in Egypt, as it is way too hot for anyone to want to visit. Egypt's busy tourism months are in the winter, and that generally starts around October, though some people do come earlier as well. All the best, good luck!

Eid saeed!
As I always used to, I see you as beautiful, radiant, and professional as well, and I would have preferred you to consult a friend from Egypt about places that serve Egyptian fattah with meat or with any other topping, and these places are cheaper by no less than 50%.
I DID consult my Egyptian boyfriend. Look, if you don't agree with the places I choose to film videos at, you are certainly welcome to make your own videos. I had a long list of places I could have filmed this video at, and I chose a spot on the Nile. As someone who has been living in Egypt for a few years now, I am of course aware there are more local and certainly cheaper places to eat fattah at. And I am usually ALWAYS eating at more local places in my videos. But it was a hot day, and I have never filmed at a restaurant on the Nile before. So that is what I chose to do, sit near the Nile and enjoy the breeze with a beautiful place to film. I mentioned before even driving to this restaurant that it was expensive, because of course it is on the Nile. But this place is also frequented and enjoyed by many Egyptians, it was packed with Egyptians inside the restaurant when I went to film this, and you can just read the reviews to know it's liked by many Egyptians as well. Please don't assume my choices for filming are made out of ignorance, but rather that I film and upload videos WEEKLY and I decided I wanted to go to a restaurant on the Nile that day to make a video.
Madam, I think you misunderstood my comment. All I mean is choose cheaper places so that Egypt’s foreign guests can enjoy staying in Egypt and traveling at low prices that are not burdensome on the budget. My greetings and appreciation to you and your efforts.
@@papa3amr158 I did not misunderstand your comment, you are telling me what I should do and where I should film my videos. I do not appreciate being told what to do, and like I said, you're free to make your own videos if you disagree with what I do with mine. Most foreigners that are visiting Egypt are coming from countries with a stronger currency, so $11 for a meal at a nice restaurant on the Nile will seem cheap to MOST foreigners. Anyways, I am glad that you appreciate my videos and efforts and sorry if I sound a bit harsh, but please don't suggest where, what, or how I should make my own videos. I am always open to suggestions for new places to see, good restaurants to try, in fact I am open to many things. But I do not like being told to film at cheaper places and to ask an Egyptian friend where to film, as if I do not know what I am doing. I've been living here for a few years now, I don't need to ask an Egyptian friend something because I did not just arrive here yesterday and I know a thing or two about Egypt. If I decide to film at a certain place, it is for a reason. Thank you.
Why is the notification so fast lol 🎉
🤣👏👏
Translate text with your camera
Fattah is a very famous dish in Egypt, and there is no foreigner or visitor to Egypt who has not tasted delicious fattah at least once.
Yes I know I can translate text with my camera phone, but the menu was scanned through and displayed on my phone! 😆 The menu was in English anyway, I took screenshots of the menu and put it in the video, you must have seen that. Also, plenty people have NOT tried fattah that have visited Egypt, that's why I made this video 😄
