A couple of people have sent your latest video over to me and I wanted to explain our (Planet Eclipse’s) point of view. Firstly, we do not have any problem with your opinions, they are just that, your opinions, we respect them but there are a few things in your video that I felt needed addressing. LV2 hype not being warranted. I am proud of what Planet Eclipse has created over the years and we believe that we have raised the bar on performance and reliability of paintball markers in pretty much every segment we are in. To say that others have made a hoseless poppet valve marker in the past is a little irrelevant. It’s not like we didn’t want to make a hoseless EGO, we just wanted to do it correctly and keeping true to the EGO platform. There are also market forces and viability issues that come into play. Sales on poppet valve markers are very much lower (for us at least) than spool valve markers, so the investment developing and producing a new model isn’t an easy or quick decision. It was honestly touch or go if we were even going to bother at all. But I’m an EGO fan / user so we made it happen. ‘Plain Jane’ milling not being worth the wait - Sorry you feel this way. The process of making any new body design isn’t an easy one and after several prototypes this is the one that we chose due to its lightweight characteristics and sleek design, where metal hasn’t been left on to create a lighter version in the future. If we had put deeper cuts that would have put much more weight onto the marker which I’m sure would have garnered comments on the extra weight. I personally think it looks sweet but that might just be me. As for us milling it like we have so that we can “sell you versions down the road that have better milling”, this just isn’t true. Will we make different versions? Probably, if some of the companies like Infamous, HK, Project G etc want their own milling shape. But as of right now we do not have any plans to do any ourselves. As for the LV1, 1.1, 1.5 and 1.6. Yes, there were changes but also internal changes. The reason we have not, until now, called it an LV2 was because we knew that the major upgrade that players wanted was the hoseless design so we made small tweaks and improvements to keep the platform alive and up to date. What some people think is that we are targeting the same customer over and over and hoping they will change to a new marker each and every time we bring a new one out. That’s just not what our company ethos is. We want players to go and play and have fun using our equipment. If they want a new marker then we are here with hopefully the best package we can offer them, in whatever segment they fit into. If they have an EGO10 and still enjoy using it, then great. There are MANY, MANY players that might have never have shot Planet Eclipse markers or the LV range and when it’s time for them to see the light we want to give them the best we can. Are we saying let’s just call it a day on development and just keep making the very same thing or should we carry on trying to make it better? Onto the ‘Scandal’ and our S63 Barrel kit. “Too Little, Too Late”….you said that “EVERYBODY by now has a preference for their favourite barrel” - again your opinion and not one that we agree with, but that’s our opinion and we are all allowed one. I used to have a preference of chocolate ice-cream and wouldn't try anything else then I gave pralines and cream a whirl and OMG I have never had chocolate since. However, without getting into the ins and out’s of why we believe our S63 barrel system is much better than anyone else's on the market, I need to explain one of the HUGE customer driven factors behind the S63. For a long time now, we have created different bore sized backs but it has always been difficult to get the right bore size in the right colour to the right customer. Anodising can be a nightmare with upper and lower tolerance issues causing a huge colour swing on the colour meaning that even if we send you a Rose Gold back (or whatever colour) to match your marker colour way it could be miles out. With the S63 you will always have a matching barrel back and all you need to do to change bore size is to swap out the PWR insert, keeping your marker looking great. The PWR inserts are a lot less expensive than full backs which is just a bonus. What a lot of players fail to understand is that barrel backs wear out. Not a sales ploy - it’s true. I’ve played at a pretty high level and a new, good barrel can bring in your grouping massively. But that’s science stuff and not really my department. As for Planet Eclipse putting our foot down and forcing pro teams to shoot the S63 Barrel. This may simply be how a minority of our pro teams have interpreted the text (see below) that was included in the LV2 sent to them: ‘In addition, the NEW S63 Barrel system will launch on the LV2 and we have included all 5 of the PWR inserts for you to use (only 2, .689 and .685 will come as standard). We would very much like you to use the S63 Barrel systems and again give us your feedback. We will have photographers and videographers working at the NXL and they will be looking to get shots of players (You) using the LV2 and S63 Barrel system, so remember to smile’ If this is the case I urge them to contact us and have a chat. Planet Eclipse has a pretty open relationship with our teams and we are only a phone call away and Jack Wood is even in the pits with the US pro teams this weekend at the NXL. I don’t think it’s a weird request for Planet to want our sponsored teams to shoot the S63 barrel so we can get promo pictures and video of the LV2, S63 and our teams shooting them giving us marketing material we can use which in turn helps promote them. We do not control any other sponsorships that our Pro teams have in place and wouldn’t want our teams to compromise other relationship that we know nothing about. They just need to talk to us. I can tell you for a fact that not a single Pro player or team has mentioned this to me at all, the only comments I have seen or heard about the S63 barrel system from the Pros is how impressed they are with it so maybe not "dumb and unnecessary" …. Who knows??!? :-) I hope this clears up a few things, maybe not. Just wanted put across our side of things. Ledz
All of the rebuttal to my hot take style review is 100% valid. I find the release of the LV2 to be underwhelming for the reasons I've outlined. Anyone is free to argue the points that come down to preference. The reporting the S63 issue was confirmed twice over. Real numerical figures were provided (the 5-10K figure I mentioned). This was an industry level source on the record confirming a team was losing out on a deal with SP/Freak because the team had to use the S63. They were upset because as a small market team with no wealthy OG lining their pockets real cash sponsorship was make or break. I asked if PE would be making up for the lost funds, and I was told not at this time. Later another program reached out and said that they would be losing out on their Carbon deal because Eclipse wants them to shoot the S63. So when this went live there were 2 instances of it conveyed to me. The reason this leaked was because the team was hurting. The intent for this video was to give leverage to the team in hopes they could keep their barrel sponsorship. Sounds like a win for everyone if that turns out to be the outcome. Could this all be a miscommunication? Yes Could Eclipse have changed course? Yes Did I also say "Eclipse will probably find a way to make this right" Yes. Thanks for dropping by and keeping it civil.
@@WillBallForSoup well I don't think it's because carbon is tripping over them not using their system. I have been sponsored by carbon and they could careless what I use. I have a freak XL, dye UL and PE aluminum tip FL system. I shoot what I want and still had our sponsorship. So something doesn't add up with that. 🤷♂️
Yeah was kind of disappointed with the milling. Also hilarious how paintballruinedmylife did a video on a LV2 photoshop 2 years ago and the actual LV2 ended up looking identical lmao. Love your insight and backdoor knowledge on topics other channels wont report on, keep it up 💪🏼
You make some outstanding points which I've addressed before with friends. Especially, how PE makes these minor to moderate upgrades to their LV platform, and changes the name from LV1.1 to LV1.5 to .6. Also agree with your milling comment, I suspect HK, Infamous, and here in California ANS Gear will come out with their own versions of the LV2 with "custom" milling at a $ignificant markup. But hey, no one's forcing us to buy their guns.
one thing i personally hate about this is the random changes in sponserships as forcing one to use there barrel was never a thing for PE did and allowed players to find kits they like and works for them, for me it was the cp back in 08 now its the CF-s from dye
I don’t really mind what the milling on my gun is like as long as the ergo is nice and it shoots well tbh. I def don’t like the idea of buying a new marker and then feeling dumb in 3 months when the new version comes out
I can’t tell if you don’t understand the definition of scandal or if you just enjoy clickbait titles. There’s nothing unreasonable about PE asking teams to keep the stock barrel on-especially if you’re acquiring the markers via any form of sponsorship. 1 team missing out on money because they can’t use their barrel on the LV2 specifically seems like a self-inflicted, personal problem.
To you, to me changing the rules of the sponsorship and having a major deal be off the table is a scandal. Eclipse has never done this before. I'm sorry you disagree with me attempting to get as many people to watch my work as possible and how I packaged the news.
The point of the LV2 is not just the hoseless design. They put an LPR AND an HPR in the fore grip which allowed for more volume and a lower operating pressure. Also new electronics, tooless grips and eye covers. Plus the LV is one of the smoothest guns you'll ever shoot. You can't compare this to a G6R. I've owned both a G6R and an LV. The G6R was so finicky and could shoot smoothly but even on it's best day it couldn't shoot as smooth as an LV out of the box. I occasionally drop some oil on the rammer and that's about it. The g6r required a pressure tester just to get the thing to shoot right. Huge pain in the ass.
I get both sides. If PE is shedding out money/gear to a team they’re gunna have demands they’d like met. Being a player you don’t want to burn bridges with a company who’s been supporting you. It’s like the mom and pop shop supporting a local hockey team with ccm sticks because they’re a ccm dealer and suddenly the team gets sponsored by warrior. What do you do? Negotiate and hope for the best As far as the aesthetics of lv2? I like it. Look at the cs2 pro. That thing is a bare tube compared to the original. And it still sold like crazy. I don’t see it as PE dropping the ball as much as people expecting something different. Remember how much hate grills got when they came out? Then became one of the most popular masks ever?
If I'm planet it's a bad look for teams to shoot other barrels. They had their own barrel system the FL which people imo don't love, logical business move to accompany the new barrel.
bad look not really most players either choose a barrel kit over stock usually. i didnt see to many people saying the hating the FL 2peice barrel design which i prefer over inserts ill still using my own barrel kit over the new design and im sure theres others

Eclipse changed course due to negative PR. Ry-Guy wouldn't have co-signed this it there weren't teams fearing for a massive loss of sponsorship. Believe what you want, but when this video is the second thing that the public sees when they Google LV2 you're going to need to readjust policy.

I bought a Planet Eclipse LV2 02/01/2024. Pricy marker but I love the styling, performance and design. The shop I purchased it from has free servicing of the marker for life as long as parts are available. I'm excited to get it on the field.
are the s63 inserts the same length as the FL backs? Seems like this barrel system wont perform any better. I think teams and players would much have preferred a new freak ready system to take XL inserts
Great vid, nice footy ry guy. I guess the question is, is if a team is sponsored by say, carbon for their soft gear barrels and mask, what do they lose if they go with PE for barrels? Some $ on their sponsorship or their entire sponsorship all together
No surprise Eclipse is making their sponsored teams rock the barrel system. It is surprising to learn there are teams getting paid $5-$10k + gear from barrel manufacturers. (That's an amazing deal for smaller teams) I actually recently purchased an LV2 for myself so I'll let you know how it goes. Sweet footage from RyGuy and well put together as always Scotty!

The biggest problem I've had the eclipse barrels, is the lack of sizing. Had to tell a team as of right now you can only use a barrel kit that has two available inserts is ridiculous. Fine you can say respond to you you can only use our stuff if we make it Mama but at least make something that's comparable to what's out there. I mean I've got disposable income, and I love paintball. I'm the guy that went out and bought the extra backs to have a full FL kit, I got a silencio tip for it, and now that entire kit sits in my gear bag because I run my freak XL. I picked up my lv2 on Saturday, the barrel is nice, but I don't have the insert options, I will eventually waste the money and buy them but I don't think it's going to replace my freak
I’m kinda surprised they don’t just bore a matching 2 piece barrel for freak inserts. It would keep their markers looking amazing on the field and give the player a platform that literally everyone has inserts for. Maybe do two back one for freak XL one for regular.
Wasn't the 06/07 Empire Mini hose less? First Geo had unnecessary metal on it and the SL91 released with it milled off, essentially giving us the Geo 2.
LOL I just bought the LV2 and I like it so far but then again I have never owned or shot a poppet gun before this so I got nothing to really compare the experience to. Previous gun before this is a tippmann a5 rt which is still going strong btw lol
I respect the hustle of the title and thumbnail picture but this is standard practice as far as teams having to use the barrel the marker comes with. I'm sure the owner of Parabolic Paintball can tell you even more information about this.

Euh, PE (and other brands) still make the same mistake for years in a row. Each start of the year, the give away the new teamguns, allowing the teams to sell them in october for around 700€, while the new ones are still in the shop for 12-1500€. Not even talking about brands donating 50 guns as a sponsorship to a pro team, allowing them to dump them on the market before the season finishes. They bomb their own market.
That would piss me off too. If i couldn't use my own barrel on my gun. Also what about all the teams that have barrel sponsors and stuff. Like those teams might lose a barrel sponsor. All because planet eclipse wants and is forcing teams to use there barrel. I'm sorry but that would upset me as a player. Because as of right now I think the carbon and hk larz barrels are some of the best barrels out there right now
Ok, I get the frustration. But I'd also say, is it that shocking to have a brand request that you only use their branded equipment? Would dye be happy to see players on the Ironmen using freak barrel systems, infamous barrel tips, etc? Now, if PE is requiring all PE branded teams to convert but forcing them to pay out of pocket, that's a little different. If PE is saying, you're a PE team so you have to use a PE branded barrel system so we're sending you all full kits to make sure it works for both of us, that's a very different story. Is it, "screw you use our stuff" or is it "hey use our stuff, we can't give it to you 100% free since you're a D-2/3/4 team with a PE sponsorship but we can help with something liek 50% off" that's a different story. If teams are being forced to give up barrel system sponsorships, then the teams should be conscious enough to consider that a negotiation factor. We're giving up a $xxxx sponsorship to use your barrel system. So you should be sending us full barrel systems and covering the difference of the barrel systems $xxxx sponsorship. Simple business in that factor. If PE is unwilling so, perhaps it's time to look elsewhere. This as well could turn into a rather drastic swing in the sub Pro/Semi-Pro ranks of marker popularity. Simply due to the fact that I guarantee there are marker brands that are chomping at the bit to take back some of the industry sponsorships and increase their size and stature in the competitive world (Pro Ranks alone = 9-PE, 5-Luxe, 3-Dye, 2-Shocker, 1-Field One). Just the sheer number of PE sponsored teams is an overwhelming number. And PE knows this. So they could absolutely pull the "our way or the highway" on any team that isn't Pro/Semi-Pro. That may just push teams to Luxe/Dye/Shocker etc. OR it blows PE earnings through the roof because a large majority of their teams choose to shell out for barrel systems rather than try and fight their way to a different company sponsorship. At this point, only time will tell.
If they have a barrel sponsorship id understand the anger and that it was something pe never did till now if its true. Personally if they just want to use the one there most familiar with, some players have barrel kits they prefer over others because it works. i used to have a CP sponsership back in 2008 so did team xsv in 09 love that kit used it all the time, now i use the use my dye CF-S kit which i will never give up
Shock Horror! Team's being told you use kit by their main sponsor! And I have my LV1 (in HDE) next to my LV2 (in Midnight), and it look's very similar and at same time totally different! The LV2 is a bit more chunky in the hand but if your used to the CS series it's the same feel. As for the milling, I don't mind it at all, basic and does the job (I don't buy guns because they look good, I buy because they work good). Barrel system, come's in the box so will be used. My FL kit gets moved onto my mech cocker so no problem's with it. Will be used in anger this weekend.
Been shooting a 1.6 for a couple months and don’t see a great reason to buy an lv2. I think the barrel on the lv2 looks too much like the HK LAZR barrel and prefer the FL over the s63. I’ve already invested money into FL backs and don’t wanna spend $75 on top of 1600 for a full kit on a new marker. I think eclipse should offer a bonus for teams which exclusively use the s63 barrel instead of forcing this onto them and complicating funds of smaller, less-sponsored teams. But at the end of the day, a barrel is just a metal pipe.
Great work Scotty and Ry Guy! That barrel kit is hideous AF... I agree with the milking of the LV2, it's similar to what Dye did with their markers. Hopefully it'll kill their resale value and players can get good prices on the used market. As for me, my G6R shot great then, still shoot ls great now. Can the LV2 get 12 pods on a 45/4500?
The problem with them forcing players to use there barrels is just like how some companies forced teams to stop using after market parts for there guns and why we no longer have a aftermarket in paintball, bigger paintball companies are more harmful to the sport then players realize they stopped advertising and they killed the aftermarket and screwing over the little companies over ip costs. i like planet eclipse guns but that all i like about planet eclipse. im sorry im going to use a aftermarket barrel kit that probably put more care into polishing the barrels bore for a more frictionless shot. also the milling is shit were tired of getting an LV point something with minor upgrades
What happened? after 2011 it seemed like the sky was the limit. I came back to the sport a decade later and I’m saddened to see less quality for more money now. Push unite put the thermal barrier into their mask’s field of view (didn’t know until ordered it) it’s a $200+ dollar mask and I still prefer my old VENTS. I do not understand why we went away from bigger FOV even. I’m looking at the barrier that takes up what little lense I have left and I don’t understand how this bad design is in such an expensive mask…
Not in a hurry to get a LV2, got my LV1.6 set up sweet, so unless there is massive performance improvement I will be rocking the LV1.6. Their new barrel system is late to the party and pretty crappie to give teams that deal.
Man you need to shoot one lol I had my 1.6 fossil shooting 280fps and my budy with his new LV2 side by side he was shooting 305 and it was still night and day difference in feel. Like if you dropped your 1.6 down to 250fps and shot it. I think I'm going to. E making the switch and selling my fossil for one but may wait for a custome milled one and keep my lvr

I mean barrel kits are pure margin, I get it. They want everyone to see Eclipse teams winning with this new kit that they sell separately now. But barrel stuff notwithstanding, yes! New intimidator please!
So much to unpack. If planet is going to give you a LV2... for free and their stipulation is you have to use their barrel who cares? At best a barrel kit is 200 the marker retails for 1600 so make a decision which do you want more. 🤔 Also the G6R is a poppit that is hoseless. That's the ends of the similarities. I've had both and the LV1 is all around a better gun. Reliability, tuning, shot quality, all go to the LV. The G6R is a little more efficient, that is literally the only thing that is quantifiable better. I don't dislike the G6R but there are so many things that are better designed in the LV and make it more fun to shoot, that the G6R didn't stick around for long. As for milling yet again, it is personal preference. Is it the best milling ever? No, there is a reason there are 10 different milling options for each gun. Everyone likes something different, so somehow this makes you think PE milled the gun the way they did so people wouldn't like it? Come on dude, you know why you don't have ties to the industry? Because you make drama where there is none to be had, the intro to your video says it all. It's "emergency" painball news because you need the views. Not because it's some ground breaking news.
I am not making the drama. The drama was when eclipse took 10K off the table for a struggling professional team. The first two points you made were totally fair. But no, I am not the cause of this drama. Eclipse is the culprit. They could have allowed their teams to run with whatever barrel they wanted.

I’m not I just got a geo4 and I think they should’ve waited. they just kick out the cs1,cs2,cs2 pro and the lv1.6 they did give them that much time out and then all the other new markers like the emek,emek100 etc. plus some player I know still shoot the lv,lv1,Lv1.5 and the lvr still rocking it.

I understand your gripes. We are creatures of habit. We like what we like. But their barrels are perfectly fine and as a matter of fact I think they have the longest control bore barrel on the market if im not mistaken. Not saying that means its the best cause I use an acculock kit but i had an LV2 and a Force and I don’t really remember either system being more accurate over the other. Then again I suck anyways. Just a rental with money I guess 🤷♂️ I think PE just wanted you to use their stuff for publicity reasons. It sucks y’all couldn’t come to an agreement but I see both sides. I would love a deal with any company. Some of us just aren’t as fortunate to have those kinds of deals on the table. Gotta count your blessings. Im just blessed to be able to play the sport and afford it.
i knew they were gonna short the milling is a fad now.. place yer bets HK gets the first milling deal.🙄 as far as PE thats shiesty af for them to do that but then again it did come as a set so🤷🏻♂️ jack better not be getting full of himself further down the road or they gonna lose a LOT of loyalty.
Just my 2 cents. Why did they need to add yet another barrel?? Seriously I look at it as just another money grab. Oh new barrel that means you need all of my new inserts again when the current Geo's and LV1.6 barrels work just fine and you wouldn't need to buy anything else. I like the LV2 but I'm meh on the looks, you may be right on the whole milling deal. If they sell it in a full purple or teal then I will definitely buy one as I have been a dork for Egos since they came out. I'm sure the video will cause controversy but sometimes companies need to hear some opposite views once in awhile as most companies are full of "yes men."
Much respect but I feel your complaints are very trivial. Everyone one knows they will make more versions later on with more milling and small upgrades to sell People, nothing new there with planet Eclpise. And I think it’s only fair that if you want a sponsorship from PE then be prepared to rock their barrel, not sure why this is taboo to you.
No real scandal. Small market teams have 2 choices....1) go with the LV2 and lose the barrel sponsorship, or 2) stick with the sponsorship and shoot what ever marker they are using. Basically, just do the math and go with whichever deal clears the most cash for the team.
If your sponsored by a company you use what they give you, I don't see how that is really surprising to you. I don't see a barrel sponsorship really bringing in any season altering amount of money. Yes they are going to put out limited editions like the fossil, twister, ect because thats what people want and PB companies have been doing limited runs since very early on and a lot of people use them as collector pieces as well as just rad markers. I'm not the biggest fan boy of the lv series but I do think PE is one of the best companies in the sport product and culture wise. Yeah 1 team may suffer from a barrel deal but the amount of 3/5 man mech tourneys that have started after the release of the etha 2 is significant. while there may be other factors in the mech scene that have helped it grow I believe having an affordable, reliable, quality entry level maker has done more for the sport than what ever silliness your poking at. Everything you criticized is them being business smart and following industry trends that go I've the player more value in there purchase.
All of the drama aside, what other sport has THIS right here? The lead of the one of the biggest companies in the sport coming into a youtube chat to have a discussion on their product with the community? THATS freaking special, so I would say reserve your uncivilized primate comments and ask you to try and keep this civil because this is pretty special and we have to grow the sport. @planeteclipse I've always been a fan of your markers from the day I started playing almost 20 years ago. Everything about PE was just "Cool" and more than that, the best build and reliability, all the way down to your gear bags and sweaters. I Still have my gear bag from 2009 and I've taken that thing literally all over the world and its in better shape than any other piece of luggage I own. Not so say the E-blade on my cocker still shoots like a dream, or that the GEO 3 that i shot at the field last weekend made me regret getting a LUXE...LOL... you guys are legends by every definition of the word. I will have to say, so much has changed about the sport since I've left, and wow do the guns look WAY different than my ego11 did. They still have that "ego" feel to them but I will have to agree with the sentiment that the overall aesthetics are plain. It really hurts to say, but the lines of the CS2 and CS3 feel blocky, interrupted by the grips, a little toy-ish. it feels like the transition from one piece of body is interrupted by the other, like frame to eyes, to body. Even though the quality of the milling is exceptional as it always has been, the way the lines interact visually feel like they are at odds with each other. BUT, that is secondary to how the markers feel in your hands and rip that paint down the field. I've never shot something like them and its like holding a ghost that teleports paint to the other side of the field because its so light, and so quiet. The LV2 is calling back to some exceptional design elements that i have always loved in the previous ego's, the way the rear rammer assembly fits in your hand when you're walking the gun off field. the transition from the back rammer cap to the front of the gun with those nice lines that flow smoothly across the body. The eye covers feel like they have a good dynamic interaction with the direction of your hand, like if they followed the line of your arm. overall its better, but still not that "ego" cool from back in the day. That is me being extremely critical with the visual elements here, i could dive deeper into design elements, etc., but at the end of the day its like Ledz said, just an opinion. Of which, most of our opinions are coming with ZERO design, industrial engineering, or CNC/CAD/CAM experience; so before you speak loudly about the looks and feels about any of the markers out there, why don't you download a trial version of fusion360 and try designing a coffee mug, then come back and bi***ch about design. It is by far one of the hardest challenges to make something that works well and looks good. you're not only balancing aesthetics, but true, high-precision, mechanical engineering and manufacturing. That shit is HARD, like really hard... so all that said, if you don't know jack (wood) shit about design, think to yourself first, what would I do to make this gun look cooler, and if you come up with a productive answer im sure the right person would listen. But if you don't have anything constructive to say, it might be better to not say it at all. anyways, thanks for the intense PB discussion here, hope to see everyone at Windy City open this weekend, and last thing, if anyone from Planet Eclipse is reading this, i have an idea for a community competition. Would you ever be open to a community designed LV2 or CS2? this would require you to give the community a 3d model of an Lv2/Cs3 body so community members can give designing some milling a shot. It might shut up the naysayers and it could give some of us that are 3d artists the opportunity to get our hands on something cool.
Lv2 is kinda a joke to me, but the barrel kit is a complete joke. Hopefully the CS3 is something new and not a gun I knew from paintballruinmylife two years ago.
Sponsorship is sponsorship, you either agree or move on. Doesn’t look like a “scandal” at all. Keep the drama out…paintball is supposed to be fun. LV2 milling looks fine, new barrel looks fine, heck I don’t even own a PE gun, running a G6R and Force… but I’d pickup a LV2 and new barrel.
I won't be buying this. Why? I don't buy new markers out of the gate Because in a few months someone that hates that new marker will sell it used. They will have 10 different variations in the next two years. I am not impressed by any barrel kit. I feel they are all barrel kits gimmicky. LV2 comes with the .685 size IMO is the only size bore you will ever need. In other barrel kits, it is always the .684 insert. Seems like .685 is the size that is not too overbore and not tight. Ever notice when you buy a barrel kit you use all but two or three sizes? The rest of the inserts just sit and never get used. Buy one-piece barrels .685 done! Smart one planet eclipse, finally the right stock size insert .685. Copied Bob Long stock barrels, all g6r markers came with .685. Bob also did that horseless before all of these and why did it take so long for the Ego to follow? It's a good deal if this is your first high-end purchase and you need a barrel kit. Yeah, I can see where barrel-sponsored teams PE could step on toes.
All these so called new model guns are just the same old gun with small appearance changes and then they stop making the previous model and make you spend hundreds more on the " new model " that's basically the same thing .
A couple of people have sent your latest video over to me and I wanted to explain our (Planet Eclipse’s) point of view. Firstly, we do not have any problem with your opinions, they are just that, your opinions, we respect them but there are a few things in your video that I felt needed addressing.
LV2 hype not being warranted. I am proud of what Planet Eclipse has created over the years and we believe that we have raised the bar on performance and reliability of paintball markers in pretty much every segment we are in. To say that others have made a hoseless poppet valve marker in the past is a little irrelevant. It’s not like we didn’t want to make a hoseless EGO, we just wanted to do it correctly and keeping true to the EGO platform. There are also market forces and viability issues that come into play. Sales on poppet valve markers are very much lower (for us at least) than spool valve markers, so the investment developing and producing a new model isn’t an easy or quick decision. It was honestly touch or go if we were even going to bother at all. But I’m an EGO fan / user so we made it happen.
‘Plain Jane’ milling not being worth the wait - Sorry you feel this way. The process of making any new body design isn’t an easy one and after several prototypes this is the one that we chose due to its lightweight characteristics and sleek design, where metal hasn’t been left on to create a lighter version in the future. If we had put deeper cuts that would have put much more weight onto the marker which I’m sure would have garnered comments on the extra weight. I personally think it looks sweet but that might just be me. As for us milling it like we have so that we can “sell you versions down the road that have better milling”, this just isn’t true. Will we make different versions? Probably, if some of the companies like Infamous, HK, Project G etc want their own milling shape. But as of right now we do not have any plans to do any ourselves. As for the LV1, 1.1, 1.5 and 1.6. Yes, there were changes but also internal changes. The reason we have not, until now, called it an LV2 was because we knew that the major upgrade that players wanted was the hoseless design so we made small tweaks and improvements to keep the platform alive and up to date. What some people think is that we are targeting the same customer over and over and hoping they will change to a new marker each and every time we bring a new one out. That’s just not what our company ethos is. We want players to go and play and have fun using our equipment. If they want a new marker then we are here with hopefully the best package we can offer them, in whatever segment they fit into. If they have an EGO10 and still enjoy using it, then great. There are MANY, MANY players that might have never have shot Planet Eclipse markers or the LV range and when it’s time for them to see the light we want to give them the best we can. Are we saying let’s just call it a day on development and just keep making the very same thing or should we carry on trying to make it better?
Onto the ‘Scandal’ and our S63 Barrel kit. “Too Little, Too Late”….you said that “EVERYBODY by now has a preference for their favourite barrel” - again your opinion and not one that we agree with, but that’s our opinion and we are all allowed one. I used to have a preference of chocolate ice-cream and wouldn't try anything else then I gave pralines and cream a whirl and OMG I have never had chocolate since. However, without getting into the ins and out’s of why we believe our S63 barrel system is much better than anyone else's on the market, I need to explain one of the HUGE customer driven factors behind the S63. For a long time now, we have created different bore sized backs but it has always been difficult to get the right bore size in the right colour to the right customer. Anodising can be a nightmare with upper and lower tolerance issues causing a huge colour swing on the colour meaning that even if we send you a Rose Gold back (or whatever colour) to match your marker colour way it could be miles out. With the S63 you will always have a matching barrel back and all you need to do to change bore size is to swap out the PWR insert, keeping your marker looking great. The PWR inserts are a lot less expensive than full backs which is just a bonus. What a lot of players fail to understand is that barrel backs wear out. Not a sales ploy - it’s true. I’ve played at a pretty high level and a new, good barrel can bring in your grouping massively. But that’s science stuff and not really my department.
As for Planet Eclipse putting our foot down and forcing pro teams to shoot the S63 Barrel. This may simply be how a minority of our pro teams have interpreted the text (see below) that was included in the LV2 sent to them:
‘In addition, the NEW S63 Barrel system will launch on the LV2 and we have included all 5 of the PWR inserts for you to use (only 2, .689 and .685 will come as standard). We would very much like you to use the S63 Barrel systems and again give us your feedback. We will have photographers and videographers working at the NXL and they will be looking to get shots of players (You) using the LV2 and S63 Barrel system, so remember to smile’
If this is the case I urge them to contact us and have a chat. Planet Eclipse has a pretty open relationship with our teams and we are only a phone call away and Jack Wood is even in the pits with the US pro teams this weekend at the NXL. I don’t think it’s a weird request for Planet to want our sponsored teams to shoot the S63 barrel so we can get promo pictures and video of the LV2, S63 and our teams shooting them giving us marketing material we can use which in turn helps promote them. We do not control any other sponsorships that our Pro teams have in place and wouldn’t want our teams to compromise other relationship that we know nothing about. They just need to talk to us. I can tell you for a fact that not a single Pro player or team has mentioned this to me at all, the only comments I have seen or heard about the S63 barrel system from the Pros is how impressed they are with it so maybe not "dumb and unnecessary" …. Who knows??!? :-)
I hope this clears up a few things, maybe not. Just wanted put across our side of things.

All of the rebuttal to my hot take style review is 100% valid. I find the release of the LV2 to be underwhelming for the reasons I've outlined. Anyone is free to argue the points that come down to preference.
The reporting the S63 issue was confirmed twice over. Real numerical figures were provided (the 5-10K figure I mentioned). This was an industry level source on the record confirming a team was losing out on a deal with SP/Freak because the team had to use the S63. They were upset because as a small market team with no wealthy OG lining their pockets real cash sponsorship was make or break.
I asked if PE would be making up for the lost funds, and I was told not at this time. Later another program reached out and said that they would be losing out on their Carbon deal because Eclipse wants them to shoot the S63. So when this went live there were 2 instances of it conveyed to me. The reason this leaked was because the team was hurting. The intent for this video was to give leverage to the team in hopes they could keep their barrel sponsorship. Sounds like a win for everyone if that turns out to be the outcome.
Could this all be a miscommunication? Yes
Could Eclipse have changed course? Yes
Did I also say "Eclipse will probably find a way to make this right" Yes.

I have a freak XL, dye UL and PE aluminum tip FL system. I shoot what I want and still had our sponsorship. So something doesn't add up with that. 🤷♂️

You make some outstanding points which I've addressed before with friends. Especially, how PE makes these minor to moderate upgrades to their LV platform, and changes the name from LV1.1 to LV1.5 to .6. Also agree with your milling comment, I suspect HK, Infamous, and here in California ANS Gear will come out with their own versions of the LV2 with "custom" milling at a $ignificant markup. But hey, no one's forcing us to buy their guns.
one thing i personally hate about this is the random changes in sponserships as forcing one to use there barrel was never a thing for PE did and allowed players to find kits they like and works for them, for me it was the cp back in 08 now its the CF-s from dye

There’s nothing unreasonable about PE asking teams to keep the stock barrel on-especially if you’re acquiring the markers via any form of sponsorship. 1 team missing out on money because they can’t use their barrel on the LV2 specifically seems like a self-inflicted, personal problem.

The point of the LV2 is not just the hoseless design. They put an LPR AND an HPR in the fore grip which allowed for more volume and a lower operating pressure. Also new electronics, tooless grips and eye covers. Plus the LV is one of the smoothest guns you'll ever shoot. You can't compare this to a G6R. I've owned both a G6R and an LV. The G6R was so finicky and could shoot smoothly but even on it's best day it couldn't shoot as smooth as an LV out of the box. I occasionally drop some oil on the rammer and that's about it. The g6r required a pressure tester just to get the thing to shoot right. Huge pain in the ass.
Gayyyyyyy.....lv2 does NOTHING that a 2011 g6r doesn't.
I kind of dig the LV2 milling. I tend to by used so I'll probably do that when the prices come down a little. The barrel deal is horse shit honestly.

As far as the aesthetics of lv2? I like it. Look at the cs2 pro. That thing is a bare tube compared to the original. And it still sold like crazy. I don’t see it as PE dropping the ball as much as people expecting something different. Remember how much hate grills got when they came out? Then became one of the most popular masks ever?
I’ll definitely end up with an LV2 but definitely going to wait to see what PL ones drop.

If I'm planet it's a bad look for teams to shoot other barrels. They had their own barrel system the FL which people imo don't love, logical business move to accompany the new barrel.

I bought a Planet Eclipse LV2 02/01/2024. Pricy marker but I love the styling, performance and design. The shop I purchased it from has free servicing of the marker for life as long as parts are available. I'm excited to get it on the field.
are the s63 inserts the same length as the FL backs? Seems like this barrel system wont perform any better. I think teams and players would much have preferred a new freak ready system to take XL inserts

No surprise Eclipse is making their sponsored teams rock the barrel system. It is surprising to learn there are teams getting paid $5-$10k + gear from barrel manufacturers. The biggest problem I've had the eclipse barrels, is the lack of sizing. Had to tell a team as of right now you can only use a barrel kit that has two available inserts is ridiculous. Fine you can say respond to you you can only use our stuff if we make it Mama but at least make something that's comparable to what's out there. I mean I've got disposable income, and I love paintball. I'm the guy that went out and bought the extra backs to have a full FL kit, I got a silencio tip for it, and now that entire kit sits in my gear bag because I run my freak XL.
I picked up my lv2 on Saturday, the barrel is nice, but I don't have the insert options, I will eventually waste the money and buy them but I don't think it's going to replace my freak
I’m kinda surprised they don’t just bore a matching 2 piece barrel for freak inserts. It would keep their markers looking amazing on the field and give the player a platform that literally everyone has inserts for. Maybe do two back one for freak XL one for regular.

Euh, PE (and other brands) still make the same mistake for years in a row. Each start of the year, the give away the new teamguns, allowing the teams to sell them in october for around 700€, while the new ones are still in the shop for 12-1500€. Not even talking about brands donating 50 guns as a sponsorship to a pro team, allowing them to dump them on the market before the season finishes. They bomb their own market.

Ok, I get the frustration. But I'd also say, is it that shocking to have a brand request that you only use their branded equipment? Would dye be happy to see players on the Ironmen using freak barrel systems, infamous barrel tips, etc?
Now, if PE is requiring all PE branded teams to convert but forcing them to pay out of pocket, that's a little different. If PE is saying, you're a PE team so you have to use a PE branded barrel system so we're sending you all full kits to make sure it works for both of us, that's a very different story. Is it, "screw you use our stuff" or is it "hey use our stuff, we can't give it to you 100% free since you're a D-2/3/4 team with a PE sponsorship but we can help with something liek 50% off" that's a different story.
If teams are being forced to give up barrel system sponsorships, then the teams should be conscious enough to consider that a negotiation factor. We're giving up a $xxxx sponsorship to use your barrel system. So you should be sending us full barrel systems and covering the difference of the barrel systems $xxxx sponsorship. Simple business in that factor. If PE is unwilling so, perhaps it's time to look elsewhere.
This as well could turn into a rather drastic swing in the sub Pro/Semi-Pro ranks of marker popularity. Simply due to the fact that I guarantee there are marker brands that are chomping at the bit to take back some of the industry sponsorships and increase their size and stature in the competitive world (Pro Ranks alone = 9-PE, 5-Luxe, 3-Dye, 2-Shocker, 1-Field One). Just the sheer number of PE sponsored teams is an overwhelming number. And PE knows this. So they could absolutely pull the "our way or the highway" on any team that isn't Pro/Semi-Pro. That may just push teams to Luxe/Dye/Shocker etc. OR it blows PE earnings through the roof because a large majority of their teams choose to shell out for barrel systems rather than try and fight their way to a different company sponsorship.
At this point, only time will tell.

Personally if they just want to use the one there most familiar with, some players have barrel kits they prefer over others because it works. i used to have a CP sponsership back in 2008 so did team xsv in 09 love that kit used it all the time, now i use the use my dye CF-S kit which i will never give up

And I have my LV1 (in HDE) next to my LV2 (in Midnight), and it look's very similar and at same time totally different!
The LV2 is a bit more chunky in the hand but if your used to the CS series it's the same feel.
As for the milling, I don't mind it at all, basic and does the job (I don't buy guns because they look good, I buy because they work good).
Barrel system, come's in the box so will be used. My FL kit gets moved onto my mech cocker so no problem's with it.
Will be used in anger this weekend.

Been shooting a 1.6 for a couple months and don’t see a great reason to buy an lv2. I think the barrel on the lv2 looks too much like the HK LAZR barrel and prefer the FL over the s63. I’ve already invested money into FL backs and don’t wanna spend $75 on top of 1600 for a full kit on a new marker. I think eclipse should offer a bonus for teams which exclusively use the s63 barrel instead of forcing this onto them and complicating funds of smaller, less-sponsored teams. But at the end of the day, a barrel is just a metal pipe.

Hopefully it'll kill their resale value and players can get good prices on the used market. As for me, my G6R shot great then, still shoot ls great now. Can the LV2 get 12 pods on a 45/4500?
The problem with them forcing players to use there barrels is just like how some companies forced teams to stop using after market parts for there guns and why we no longer have a aftermarket in paintball, bigger paintball companies are more harmful to the sport then players realize they stopped advertising and they killed the aftermarket and screwing over the little companies over ip costs.
i like planet eclipse guns but that all i like about planet eclipse. im sorry im going to use a aftermarket barrel kit that probably put more care into polishing the barrels bore for a more frictionless shot. also the milling is shit were tired of getting an LV point something with minor upgrades
What happened? after 2011 it seemed like the sky was the limit. I came back to the sport a decade later and I’m saddened to see less quality for more money now. Push unite put the thermal barrier into their mask’s field of view (didn’t know until ordered it) it’s a $200+ dollar mask and I still prefer my old VENTS. I do not understand why we went away from bigger FOV even. I’m looking at the barrier that takes up what little lense I have left and I don’t understand how this bad design is in such an expensive mask…

Man you need to shoot one lol I had my 1.6 fossil shooting 280fps and my budy with his new LV2 side by side he was shooting 305 and it was still night and day difference in feel. Like if you dropped your 1.6 down to 250fps and shot it. I think I'm going to. E making the switch and selling my fossil for one but may wait for a custome milled one and keep my lvr

So much to unpack. If planet is going to give you a LV2... for free and their stipulation is you have to use their barrel who cares? At best a barrel kit is 200 the marker retails for 1600 so make a decision which do you want more. 🤔
Also the G6R is a poppit that is hoseless. That's the ends of the similarities. I've had both and the LV1 is all around a better gun. Reliability, tuning, shot quality, all go to the LV. The G6R is a little more efficient, that is literally the only thing that is quantifiable better. I don't dislike the G6R but there are so many things that are better designed in the LV and make it more fun to shoot, that the G6R didn't stick around for long.
As for milling yet again, it is personal preference. Is it the best milling ever? No, there is a reason there are 10 different milling options for each gun. Everyone likes something different, so somehow this makes you think PE milled the gun the way they did so people wouldn't like it? Come on dude, you know why you don't have ties to the industry? Because you make drama where there is none to be had, the intro to your video says it all. It's "emergency" painball news because you need the views. Not because it's some ground breaking news.
I am not making the drama. The drama was when eclipse took 10K off the table for a struggling professional team. The first two points you made were totally fair. But no, I am not the cause of this drama. Eclipse is the culprit. They could have allowed their teams to run with whatever barrel they wanted.

I’m not I just got a geo4 and I think they should’ve waited. they just kick out the cs1,cs2,cs2 pro and the lv1.6 they did give them that much time out and then all the other new markers like the emek,emek100 etc. plus some player I know still shoot the lv,lv1,Lv1.5 and the lvr still rocking it.

I understand your gripes. We are creatures of habit. We like what we like. But their barrels are perfectly fine and as a matter of fact I think they have the longest control bore barrel on the market if im not mistaken. Not saying that means its the best cause I use an acculock kit but i had an LV2 and a Force and I don’t really remember either system being more accurate over the other. Then again I suck anyways. Just a rental with money I guess 🤷♂️
I think PE just wanted you to use their stuff for publicity reasons. It sucks y’all couldn’t come to an agreement but I see both sides. I would love a deal with any company. Some of us just aren’t as fortunate to have those kinds of deals on the table. Gotta count your blessings. Im just blessed to be able to play the sport and afford it.

Just my 2 cents. Why did they need to add yet another barrel?? Seriously I look at it as just another money grab. Oh new barrel that means you need all of my new inserts again when the current Geo's and LV1.6 barrels work just fine and you wouldn't need to buy anything else. I like the LV2 but I'm meh on the looks, you may be right on the whole milling deal. If they sell it in a full purple or teal then I will definitely buy one as I have been a dork for Egos since they came out. I'm sure the video will cause controversy but sometimes companies need to hear some opposite views once in awhile as most companies are full of "yes men."

Everyone one knows they will make more versions later on with more milling and small upgrades to sell People, nothing new there with planet Eclpise. And I think it’s only fair that if you want a sponsorship from PE then be prepared to rock their barrel, not sure why this is taboo to you.

No real scandal. Small market teams have 2 choices....1) go with the LV2 and lose the barrel sponsorship, or 2) stick with the sponsorship and shoot what ever marker they are using. Basically, just do the math and go with whichever deal clears the most cash for the team.
If your sponsored by a company you use what they give you, I don't see how that is really surprising to you. I don't see a barrel sponsorship really bringing in any season altering amount of money. Yes they are going to put out limited editions like the fossil, twister, ect because thats what people want and PB companies have been doing limited runs since very early on and a lot of people use them as collector pieces as well as just rad markers. I'm not the biggest fan boy of the lv series but I do think PE is one of the best companies in the sport product and culture wise. Yeah 1 team may suffer from a barrel deal but the amount of 3/5 man mech tourneys that have started after the release of the etha 2 is significant. while there may be other factors in the mech scene that have helped it grow I believe having an affordable, reliable, quality entry level maker has done more for the sport than what ever silliness your poking at. Everything you criticized is them being business smart and following industry trends that go I've the player more value in there purchase.
All of the drama aside, what other sport has THIS right here?

@planeteclipse I've always been a fan of your markers from the day I started playing almost 20 years ago. Everything about PE was just "Cool" and more than that, the best build and reliability, all the way down to your gear bags and sweaters. I Still have my gear bag from 2009 and I've taken that thing literally all over the world and its in better shape than any other piece of luggage I own. Not so say the E-blade on my cocker still shoots like a dream, or that the GEO 3 that i shot at the field last weekend made me regret getting a LUXE...LOL... you guys are legends by every definition of the word.
I will have to say, so much has changed about the sport since I've left, and wow do the guns look WAY different than my ego11 did. They still have that "ego" feel to them but I will have to agree with the sentiment that the overall aesthetics are plain. It really hurts to say, but the lines of the CS2 and CS3 feel blocky, interrupted by the grips, a little toy-ish. it feels like the transition from one piece of body is interrupted by the other, like frame to eyes, to body. Even though the quality of the milling is exceptional as it always has been, the way the lines interact visually feel like they are at odds with each other. BUT, that is secondary to how the markers feel in your hands and rip that paint down the field. I've never shot something like them and its like holding a ghost that teleports paint to the other side of the field because its so light, and so quiet. The LV2 is calling back to some exceptional design elements that i have always loved in the previous ego's, the way the rear rammer assembly fits in your hand when you're walking the gun off field. the transition from the back rammer cap to the front of the gun with those nice lines that flow smoothly across the body. The eye covers feel like they have a good dynamic interaction with the direction of your hand, like if they followed the line of your arm. overall its better, but still not that "ego" cool from back in the day.
That is me being extremely critical with the visual elements here, i could dive deeper into design elements, etc., but at the end of the day its like Ledz said, just an opinion. Of which, most of our opinions are coming with ZERO design, industrial engineering, or CNC/CAD/CAM experience; so before you speak loudly about the looks and feels about any of the markers out there, why don't you download a trial version of fusion360 and try designing a coffee mug, then come back and bi***ch about design. It is by far one of the hardest challenges to make something that works well and looks good. you're not only balancing aesthetics, but true, high-precision, mechanical engineering and manufacturing. That shit is HARD, like really hard...
so all that said, if you don't know jack (wood) shit about design, think to yourself first, what would I do to make this gun look cooler, and if you come up with a productive answer im sure the right person would listen. But if you don't have anything constructive to say, it might be better to not say it at all.

and last thing, if anyone from Planet Eclipse is reading this, i have an idea for a community competition. Would you ever be open to a community designed LV2 or CS2? this would require you to give the community a 3d model of an Lv2/Cs3 body so community members can give designing some milling a shot. It might shut up the naysayers and it could give some of us that are 3d artists the opportunity to get our hands on something cool.

Lv2 is kinda a joke to me, but the barrel kit is a complete joke. Hopefully the CS3 is something new and not a gun I knew from paintballruinmylife two years ago.

Sponsorship is sponsorship, you either agree or move on. Doesn’t look like a “scandal” at all. Keep the drama out…paintball is supposed to be fun. LV2 milling looks fine, new barrel looks fine, heck I don’t even own a PE gun, running a G6R and Force… but I’d pickup a LV2 and new barrel.

I won't be buying this. Why? I don't buy new markers out of the gate Because in a few months someone that hates that new marker will sell it used. They will have 10 different variations in the next two years. I am not impressed by any barrel kit. I feel they are all barrel kits gimmicky. LV2 comes with the .685 size IMO is the only size bore you will ever need. In other barrel kits, it is always the .684 insert. Seems like .685 is the size that is not too overbore and not tight. Ever notice when you buy a barrel kit you use all but two or three sizes? The rest of the inserts just sit and never get used. Buy one-piece barrels .685 done! Smart one planet eclipse, finally the right stock size insert .685. Copied Bob Long stock barrels, all g6r markers came with .685. Bob also did that horseless before all of these and why did it take so long for the Ego to follow? It's a good deal if this is your first high-end purchase and you need a barrel kit. Yeah, I can see where barrel-sponsored teams PE could step on toes.
All these so called new model guns are just the same old gun with small appearance changes and then they stop making the previous model and make you spend hundreds more on the " new model " that's basically the same thing .
