12,000 Miles Gyroplane Journey in 2021

  • I made nine movies named "9000 Miles Journey in Trike" highlighting the places I flew in my trikes in each year between year 2011 and 2019. I shifted from trike to gyroplane 2020, but I could not make a similar movie with my gyroplane due to Corona pandemic in 2020. This movie is the fast one I made with my gyroplane. I increased miles from 9,000 to 12,000. I flew my gyroplane about 160 hours in 2021. I simply calculated the distance by multiplying it with 75 mph. So, it is not a actual mileage I flew in my gyroplane. Please enjoy it.

    I am totally impressed with the coverage. You were high enough over the Golden Gate, that I could actually see the Earth's curvature.

      Yes, but it’s not earth curvature. It’s an effect of wide angle lens.

    thx for sharing! You've got me so far, that I'm considering to switch from trikes to gyros too. I had already my fair share of extensive talks so far, and now I've made an appointment with near located instructor. We are aiming to have my few initiation flights in the February, as the wetter calms it self down in the region, that I'm currently located in. Although, I do still have major concerns regarding higher maintenance costs and effort in reference to the rotor head, but the logistics and storing may compensate for that more than enough. Looking forward to learn more. And wish you the best luck and success in the upcomming year mate!

      Glad to hear that you are making a good decision. You will have no regret. My gyro friends fly 100 to 150 hours a year versus trike friends barely 50 hours. Overall cost could not be worse compared to trikes. Rotor blades and heads last 2,000 to 2,500 hours except main bearing. Trike wings doesn’t last that long. I have no idea higher maintenance cost and effort on rotor head you are stating.

    Fantastic video. You are living my dream. I would love to duplicate your flights someday in my own gyro.
    How did you get your gyro from place to place? Did you fly everywhere from home or did you trailer it?
    Were there any legal problems flying over the national parks or populated areas like San Francisco?
    Thanks!

    • @HenryGyroLife
      @HenryGyroLife  Před rokem

      I trailered my gyro to the most places in the video. I drive my RV with an open trailer behind it. I follow VFR minimums in my flights. FAA recommends 2000 AGL over National Parks, but it is not a mandatory.

    Just WOW! I have so many questions! I was studying for my PPL, and I won't pass the physical because of conditions. But flying has been a literal dream of mine for some time now. I began looking at LSA's (the Icon A5 and Seamax), then I started looking at Gyro's. My questions are a bit late - but hopefully you'll get a look at this. Are they Safer than the Icon A5 (which I truly cannot afford)? If so - which name brand should I go with? How far can I go? Is it possible to carry extra fuel? I'm seriously concerned with taking off and landing. Most all videos i've seen show a runway takeoff and one guy said you need significant wind to not only take-off - but to fly as well. Is this factual? What if i am in a place where there is not enough runway?
    Sorry - I just don't have anyone to answer these.

      @@tonyvanover2253 some pilots fly their gyros 8 hours a day. I’m a bit old for that kind of flight. I love much better my gyro than my trikes.

  • @AV8R_1
    @AV8R_1 Před 2 lety +1

    Henry, as always your video is absolutely breathtaking! What type of career do you have that affords you the time to travel around to all these great places to fly your Gyro? I’ve been subbed since a long time ago when you were flying the trike. I have a REVOLT. We’ve spoken many times before on FB. You gave me lots of good advice! I’m giving my trike one more year, and if I’m still having difficulty getting comfortable in it I will probably have to sell it. 😒 was only able to put about 10 hrs on it this past year. New England sucks for trikes.

    • @HenryGyroLife
      @HenryGyroLife  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for being watching my videos. 10 hrs is way little. It could be dangerous for you to fly. You should get a gyro for wether. You can fly through pretty bad winds with no tension. I already flew 275 hours in 20 months. I sold all my trikes and no regret about it.
