    I picked one up just after Christmas and have barely put it down sense. I own a fender American P bass and the quality is pretty much on par. One of the best necks I have ever played and it’s ridiculously versatile.

    I purchased a Squire Jazzmaster deluxe ST 4 months ago, I also bought a new Marshall DSL 40,, this is the finest guitar I have owned period. It blows away most core models . Plugged into the DSL40 or even a fender tube super reverb, this combination is the golden nugget.

    I like the tortoise guard, and black looks good too, but I believe when you do that, it changes the tone, as the anodized stock pickguard is an ingredient in the tone recipe. Wether it changes it for better or worse I don't know though.

    Justin, great video. I am thinking about picking up one of the new ones. However, I'm not a fan of the gold pick guard. I noticed you switched out the gold for the tortoise shell which is what I would likely do. I have been reading that since the gold pick guard is anodized, once switched out, there is a significant level of hum/noise that is introduced. Did you experience that when you switched the pick guard out or did you do something special to cut the noise out? Thanks!

      Actually, that may be my one criticism about this guitar. It’s definitely comfortable to play while seated, but it feels like it tends to slide off my leg more than other guitars I’ve played. Not sure why that is. It’s not a huge deal though.

  • @chrisbassman3936
    @chrisbassman3936 Před 2 lety

    I have a 2021 jm jm. It cost 499 plus tax so about 530 bucks. Neck shape is like a late 50s profile. I like thicker hand filling necks. It is the best squier and these are upsold privately and now they are no longer in production. What is in stock at stores is all that is left, fender will no longer produce any j mascis jazzmasters. I have lowered my action and adjusted the pickup heights and put some foam under the strings on the vibrato. I don't use the wiggle stick and play mostly metal so the signature jazzmaster jangle had to be stopped somewhat with the foam. It came with 10s on it but i am about to change the strings. I play 9s on everything so it might need slight adjustments but all should be fine. My guitar has some cool figuring in the face of the headstock and a little in the fretboard. Weighs a good 8 or 9 pounds too which i prefer heavy guitars anyways.

      Depends on the year you bought it. The older ones are more yellowy the new ones are closer to white. There are other slight differences from the older and newer ones (changed factories of production) but regardless the quality remains.

      Just my opinion and taste, but unless you're dissatisfied with the tone, you may not want to. The J. Mascis pickups are unique to this Jazzmaster model and are closer to a P90 design. You'll end up with a different tone altogether if you "upgrade". As for mine, I do plan on upgrading the wiring and switches, but the stock pickups are so harmonically interesting to my ears.. that I'll never swap 'em out.
