Love to see you singing the praises of Squier. I agree with all of your comments. After what you said about the contours of the JMJM, it’s so obvious looking at your B-roll footage. I’d never noticed that before. Another interesting thing about the JMJM is that it comes stock with jazzmaster sized p90s as opposed to the standard jm pickups. It also comes with a TOM bridge that doesn’t rock back and forth (I think) like a regular jm. That might help a beginner with intonation issues they might otherwise experience with typical offsets. Cheers, B!
@@LeschekOfLechiacheck out the specs. They don’t have typical jazzmaster pickups; they come stock with hotter wound pickups with adjustable pole pieces so they are more akin to p90s than average jm pickups.
@@ramsilva those are just tweaks. P90 has completely different construction than jazzmaster single and JMJM has proper JM singles. They are darker than regular ones, that’s correct, but they are defenitely not P90s.
I'm sorry but I how is it not a p90 with a single bobbin and a wide flat wind? My soapbar p90s on my sg have adjustable pole pieces. No one's ever called that into question. Especially given that the unit is in fact, nearly identical in size.
Wishing success to your channel and hoping many more discover you! You offer a cogent and eloquent presentation that musicians (not just guitarists) will appreciate.
Thanks for the video! Looks great, I absolutly love the Olympic White finish. Would be interesting to really see how those guitars are made compared to the ones with the big name, but I don't think we'll ever see ;-)
Thanks P! The fuzz is a custom one by a builder by the name of Cassidy Donahue in Brooklyn. Great musician. Smart man. I'll get his link. And yup! A good standard JM. Not too boomy though when leaned on. A great pairing for fuzz. More compressed as well.
Great video -- I also have question about changing out the anodized gold pick guard. Where did you obtain the tortoise shell pick guard and does swapping it with the gold anodized pick guard cause any hum issues for you ? I've heard that from some that once the anodized pick guard goes, the noise starts.
I just picked up a JMJM last week and am starting to mod it this week. Starting with changing the anodized gold pickgaurd. Can you tell me where you got the tortoise shell one in this video? Also, did you have to do anything special when changing it out, or was it pretty much drop in and go?
Absolutely in love with this pickguard, but can you please tell where did you buy it, and how is it called? Asking because I couldn't really find it on Fender online store.
Ok. Super weird. Used to be able to find a ton of wide bevel stuff last year and now I can't find a single one. Let me hunt a bit tonight after the session.
Hey mate just wondering if you had to do any mods to put your Mastery bridge on? Did you redrill and put original bridge posts in to replace the tune o matic ones?
The body was still wearing Mustang thimbles and a bridge so it was a straight swap. Although for a tunomatic to Mustang bridge swap you would need to fill and drill. The tunomatic runs 74 wide while the jazz jag Mustang bridge is 73mm wide.
Not sure where this one is from..... but.... Gary will cut you a stellar wide bevel tortoise! Just let him know which specific model and he'll sort you out good. :) www.ebay.com/itm/304706305920?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Mrp_pxZDRze&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=NwzdqWGyRD-&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Seriously. I play a 65 junior and this thing was fun as hell. And I've been turning away high dollar fenders after doing a setup. This thing though is excellent.

Cheers Ramiro! Seriously on these! And the relative interchangeability of parts basically make these hot rod perfect.
Hope the week treats you right!
No, they are defenitely not a jazzmaster sized P90s, what are you talking about.

Love the video and in-depth detailed review! Thank you.
Happy to help!

Yeaa probably pretty tight over there as far as looking in, but cheers Chris! Hope your week is going stellar!
Rad! I’m really into Jazzmasters currently, looking to add one to my collection. 🤘
It's too damn good! Cheers Bry!
Nice tones B. What Fuzz is that? I see the stock P90 is still in the bridge, the neck had been replaced with a Jazzmaster pickup

The 40th edition Squier Jazzmaster vintage is also very amazing
I haven't tried that one yet. But I don't doubt it if this things any reflection of that!
@@breilly66 lol no. It is not even remotely like that. More stability and it sounds much closer to a vintage Jazzmaster.

Beautiful guitar 💯
Such a beast.

Try searching for "wide bevel" and you should find a few good candidates. :)

@@breilly66 Did you ever end up finding some? I love everything about the guitar except the pickguard and the tortoise one looks amazing
Not sure why but am still having trouble finding them. And for a while I could order one in a snap. :/

I got one for my JMJM on Amazon and actually put it over top of the gold pickguard
Love mine!!!
Is the plastic pickguard better than the aluminium?
Mostly it is preferential. Different strokes for different folks

I haven't put mine down since I got it. My 76 LP Custom barely gets touched. My second favorite guitar ever.
