"That's crazy! I used to work there as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the PCU on the 2nd floor for about 5 years. Now, I'm pursuing a CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification to kickstart my career as a network administrator. And here I am, running into this old hospital again. LOL! Great video, thank you. This is cool - you've gained a subscriber :-)"
Hey there Danial! Or should I say hello again. I wonder how many times I walked past you on my way to the wiring closet down at the end of the wing and we never even noticed the other. Well stay tuned to see what goes on behind the walls of your old haunt. And we'll probably be needing a new network admin in a year or so. Stay in touch! God bless!
wondered what that kind of system looked like on the inside... now i know! 😂😂 oddly fascinating, one of those things you never think are on the network! thanks for this!
Yeah, it's amazing how everything is being hung off the network these days. We have everything from glucose monitors to refrigerators to HVAC systems. Just about everything. God bless!
My grandmother worked at JCPenny store in downtown Jackson MS and they had a pneumatic tube system. I was only about 10 years old, but I was mesmerized by that thing and how it operated….too cool.
I remember when the banks first brought them into my small, coastal town in Georgia where I grew up. It seemed like magic and witchcraft to us! God bless!
Grace & Pease 2 you and Happy Fathers day! hope you enjoyed your day!! Thanks a lot for this awesome tour! I would've never thought of the tube system being an Internet of Things. Tube systems have always intrigued me as a kid as they do now! I always thought it was so cool at the bank to watch the tube go back and forth😆 Well as always, be well, be safe, God Bless you and cheers!!
Very interesting. When I was a systems programmer for a regional bank in the New York areas a lot of years ago, they had a similar system for moving documents from three large branches in NYC over to a back-office area across the street (from three different directions). I had heard that prior to that system being deployed a junior teller got hit by a car trying to cross a busy street. They weren't using IP however, but RS-232 cabling routed over to a Micro VAX server in the back-office, that was controlled by a custom coded software utility that usually ran on its own without much interaction (each entry/exit station had a panel of 3 buttons to pick the destination of the air-driven canisters). I guess that was a predecessors to that iOT setup you have in your environment.
The current system replaced one where the gates were all controlled by RS-232 being controlled by a Windows95 PC. This was just two years ago! God bless!
Kind of, sort of. Like the guys that pave the roads have to make sure cars can get where they need to go, I need to make sure these devices can communicate. In that sense they are mine. But if you ask me how they work, I get dumb real quick. God bless!
The words gate and diverter are positively not interchangeable. A gate allows or denies access. A diverter routes something to where it needs to go. Each of those items were diverters and they were not gates.
