İ have tamron 20-40 f2.8 and its amazing i wish they have this last year i def get this one

This is a dream lens to have. I never use the range between 50-70mm on my 24-70 f2.8 and it's good to drop the size, weight and price by not having that range. Shame that I'm on the RF mount. Te be honest, I would rather have the smaller size and price tag than to have the 20mm. I don't mind having a 16mm f2.8 in my bag as I do that anyway (also an 85 f2).
Great review and great product by Sony. Now wait 100 years before Canon catches up.

Sony should release a 70-135mmF2.8 G lens to complement this 24-50F2.8G lens. I suspect a 2x zoom lens is where we can keep it compact at F2.8.

Is there a noticeable difference between 20 and 24mm? Not having any experiences with those focal lengths it seems to be too little to notice.
huge diff....every mm counts in the wide end.
Photographers have been screaming for a 20mm, not 24mm at the starting point in a medium zoom.

I have the 24-70 gmii.
Issue is it’s impractical for a smaller setup for travel and every day carry. I got a second body (a7cii) for travel and light weight carry. It fits for that purpose.
This is my dream lens for content creation + travel lens. 20mm is too wide except for vlogging.
Yeah 20-50mm would have been a winner (with normal zoom direction lol)
I wish Sony would stop mucking about. 24-50 is useless for video work. Meanwhile, the 24-70mm GM II isn't parfocal so is useless for filming actuality or observationally. The 20-70mm is parfocal but it's f4 so harder to match up in multi camera set ups with f2.8 lenses. Come on Sony, please give us a full frame F2.8, or F2.0 zoom, with a good range like 20-70...20-100 (ish) would be better... that is parfocal!
Pricey crap 😁 this lens shouldnt cost more than 500 $, and if the zoom is not internal then it will be problem for gimbal, there are other brands between 500-800 $ you could get normal lens
no fun... should have f1.8 at least.. since its expensive ... so what if its more expensive... we own a bank.. right
