Just wanted to say, I've been binging your videos and enjoying every minute for the relaxing and enjoyable content. I didn't realize they were all older videos and so many. but less so new ones. I hope you're doing well where ever you're at and just wanted to let you know that you still have viewers enjoying your content. I have rewatched quite a few of them too lol. Thank you so much!
I've been watching your videos for days now and they are absolutely amazing! I've seen thousands of hot wheels and match box cars at garage sales over the years and never gave them a second thought. absolutely no interest. Now I'm on the look out for them! Looks like you can get into this for under $100...at first. Thanks for posting all these extremely detailed and informative shows.
Excellent car rescue man. I love your vids. I never knew about that piece of history and evolution between hotwheels and matchbox. Even though the Superfast era lesney productions Matchbox cars are my favourite, i always just assumed the title was a rather meaningless marketing move that referenced racing/hotrodding or something! I personally really enjoy the wear and tear and "battledamage" the older cars i have on the bodywork, paint and windows as long as they roll well and don't have bent axles. It's always such a shame to see a neat car only to find out they don't roll. I don't have the required tools to for it in my current situation. But when i do have them, you've inspired me to give all the wrecked vintage cars i can find a second life.
awsome , never seen one with steerable wheels before. for such a small car it does have a ton of detail. i used to have a bunch of the pink " wildcat " mustangs, never remembered what happened to em. been looking for a long time for that ' unicorn'. every flea market that has opened cars, im searching for one. thumbs up👍
Thanks for this. I just got one of these Mustangs & the steering is locked up tight. When you said you were interested to see the steering mechanism, I literally said out loud, "Me too!!" I'm about to drill it. 💪 I was surprised to see that the post diameter is enough to accommodate a 2-56... the more you know. 😮
I loves these vidios that you make ! I couldn't imagine not being able to watch them . Keep em coming please ! And also your voice you would've made a great narrator!
Great video! I have a relatively thorough matchbox "regular wheels" collection. I find the detail of the castings in "regular wheels" cars were more realistic then their successors in the "super-fast wheels" era. The axles on the regular wheels are also easy to peen down one end to remove the axles and wheels allowing for a complete restoration of the wheel rims and tires as in this mustang or wheel tire units as in most regular wheels cars. Great video and thank you for rescuing another piece of play history from forever like loss!
That's so Cool, I Had That White Matchbox Mustang In Great Condition From the time my mom bought it for me, Until I Sold it In the Collection to An Antique Dealer.
Wow i have the exact same Mustang from my uncle who used to play with it as a child 😄 it's also white und has red seats turned out really good with the black paint job 😊
I remember as a kid I had a couple matchbox cars, including this Mustang, and even then I thought they were more detailed than hot wheels. Plus I loved that they had a trailer hitch built in. But my dad and my uncle always bought me hot wheels instead.
I was thinking about attempting to custom a 1/64 scale diecast......I was looking around for some videos for some tips....Came across this channel...WOW‼️....AMAZING.... I stopped my search and subscribe right away....I can't even imagine a nother channel as Professional, Helpful, Gives you confidence, knowledge and motivation to customize your own diecast.......I have one of these Cars The Paints Chipping, Windows Have Small Scratches, The Shifting Plastic pieces is on the car but the tip that sticks out under the door is missing, The Tires And Rims Don't Look To Shabby and it has The Little red Hitch On the Back.....I Never took apart any diecast vehicles......I was wondering where I can get cheap parts, wheels and tires etc.....Thanks ...Appreciate it
Great videos dude. One tip l would like to share with you and your watcher's. To remove sprues easily of plastic or rubber tyres is to simply use a nail clipper. From big Pedro.
Another thing Matchbox did better than Mattel before being acquired (we all know modern Matchbox are sold by Mattel, thankfully they are still made more rugged than their brother line.) Is they weren't just cars, they mad Pannier Tank locomotives of the GWR, a small coach and a small red tank engine well before Mattel got a hold of Thomas and even before ERTL who produced great Hot wheels/Matchbox size Diecast models of Sudrian locos for many years, the pins on those were thin because the locos had odd size wheels but ERTL like Matchbox made them sturdy and tough enough for kids to play with and not break. Just remembered Matchbox also made a small yellow and red Diesel shunter. I know you do restorations on the cars but I would love to see you do a custom paint on the GWR Pannier Tank from Matchbox give it a proper Brunswick Green coat and lettering. You actually gave me the inspiration to do my own on it and a few of the coaches. May just need to buy a wood grain texture acrylic for them as they are based on WUT coaches of the GNR which were wooden body coaches. Oh sorry for rambling I love my Railway stuff more so than even my other hobbies probably the only member of my immediate family who know how they get water into a Steam Locomotive boiler bottom line glad I found your channel look forward to more restoration. Have you done a Nomad yet? One of my favorite station wagon designs out there.
I had one of these as a kid. The big problem was losing the tires since you could pretend you were changing the tires. I think Lesney may have used the auto-steer system on their Mercury Cougar model as well.
I love these videos and I have no interest in buying die cast cars. You are, to me, like bob ross. I may not want to do paintings, but god I love watching you do it.
Interesting to see other brands too, I mostly see Hot Wheels restorations, makes me wonder if i could fix all the toy cars i have from when i was a kid. late 80's and early 90's toy cars, and i seem to have a lot of Majorette, a bit of Corgi, a few newer Matchbox cars and Siku. And a lot of my cars i painted with a brush when i was a kid :P
The big Matchbox cars were called Superkings. The ones I had with auto-steer were a Mercury Police Wagon and Lamborghini, like the one at the beginning of 'The Italian Job'-the original one. One of my favourite big Corgis was the Bond Moon Buggy from 'Diamonds are Forever' but yellow tyres, urgh!
As a kid in the late Sixties/early Seventies, I always preferred Matchbox cars over Hot Wheels, as I found them to be more detailed and realistic-looking.
I have the same car. I am not sure,,i have to look at my collection Matchbox again. I believe that there is another steering model,, Matchbox made an Aston Martin with the same tech
It looks good in Black it really is a shame about the back window being crack though. You can't order aftermarket windows? There isn't a company that makes that stuff?
I have two of these that I want to restore. Each has a different color white body and each has a different color chassis, one chassis is flat black the other gloss black, one body is white the other is ivory. Neither car looks to have been modified. Also one chassis says patient pending where the other has a patient number. Does it change the value of these cars if I use gloss paint instead of flat on the chassis, or paint them both the same colors?
I have a old mercury station wagon matchbox and it is in need of Restoration it has the steering that uses pressure on one side or the other like you said. the front windshield is cracked and the car has been repainted a ugly blue color. on the outlines on the door and hood I can tell it used to be a lime green do you know were I can take it to be restored. thank you and have a great day!
I probably missed the info in the video but what is the type of screw you use at the end? I have this exact same car and really want/need to refurbish it.

Your videos are always very informative, you do some fantastic work. I've been collecting both the MB and HW's vintage castings, for many years.
Excellent car rescue man. I love your vids.

Such an amazing difference between the black one and the old marked up white one
I've been in love with matchbox cars since I was five years old, I'm now sixty. I really enjoy your videos.
Vintage Matchbox is the best! Thanks for watching!
Would love to see a video showing your entire collection
awsome , never seen one with steerable wheels before. for such a small car it does have a ton of detail. i used to have a bunch of the pink " wildcat " mustangs, never remembered what happened to em. been looking for a long time for that ' unicorn'. every flea market that has opened cars, im searching for one. thumbs up👍
That's pretty cool. I never saw a Matchbox car with front steering before. I also love the Black on red look. BRAVO!
I really like that epoxy paint finish
Thanks for this. I just got one of these Mustangs & the steering is locked up tight. When you said you were interested to see the steering mechanism, I literally said out loud, "Me too!!" These matchbox cars are awesome.
As usual, great video...
One of these with a black interior and a dark green body would look killer. It would like the ‘67 390 from Bullitt.
Love the videos man. Thanks
That's so Cool, I Had That White Matchbox Mustang In Great Condition From the time my mom bought it for me, Until I Sold it In the Collection to An Antique Dealer.
Could you do more videos with these old Matchbox cars?
Sir Nigel sure they are pretty fun to restore.
Sir Nigel I agree i love the transformation!
Nigel Morgaكطج
Nigel, I love your Grand national turbo symbol :)
Nice job man.
Wow i have the exact same Mustang from my uncle who used to play with it as a child 😄 it's also white und has red seats turned out really good with the black paint job 😊
recently subscribed and speaking from being a former hot wheels collector I really love your channel
Great video. I do like the black paint.
Sharp looking Mustang
I remember as a kid I had a couple matchbox cars, including this Mustang, and even then I thought they were more detailed than hot wheels. Plus I loved that they had a trailer hitch built in. But my dad and my uncle always bought me hot wheels instead.
I dont know whyy im watching this but its actually pretty cool!
Great video thanks.
seen this steering thing for the first time
The most rare kinds of Hot Wheels toys are like; the good year blimp, even the Fuji film blimps.
Love your videos bro. Great Job!
Excellent job!
I have one too, it’s in excellent shape too
This was fun to watch - I had one of these at the time. I'll spare you the reminiscing, however. :)
Your videos are oddly relaxing
+mrwhippy101 thanks!!

I have one of those in white. 👍
i have very cool old models from USSR

hermoso como todos tus trabajos !!!
This car is beautiful because the Ford mustang is my favorite car. I have this model that I got for 3 dollars
thank you for admitting that Matchbox is better!!!
Zinn Schwartz let's keep it our little secret ;-)
Zinn Schwartz - yea matchbox cars were always more detailed and based on real vehicles then hotwheels. hotwheels tend to be more ' fantasy ' cars. 👍
baremetalHW im quite offended i prefer hotwheels models because the matchbox its like its not ment for me
Matchbox WAS better, my friend; WAS better. Once Lesney sold out, Matchbox turned into just one more Asian junk toy. Lesney was QUALITY.
Unintentional Robert Patterson batmobile
I love this channel but I wish you would show the before in the thumbnail instead of the after.
wow! i have one of the same!! i machine polished it so it´s just chrome! mine also had a marker custom paintjob
A friend told me that the new matchbox 1967 mustang Window fits in this model. He restored his one with that windows
I love these videos and I have no interest in buying die cast cars. You are, to me, like bob ross. I may not want to do paintings, but god I love watching you do it.
watched and enjoyed ^^
A Dark Green one would look cool, like the one in Bullitt.
YES!
I have this one too!!
I have quite a few like that, too. And for some reason, my brother painted all the license plates blue - so they would be California cars.
damn looks good
also i watched the video just said that from the thumbnail
Press f to pay respect for the persons foot.
Oh hell yeah
Nice job and I have this model but leaving in play worn condition as I only have one of this model right now.
You should try useing some primer filler and 600 grit and wet sand it before you paint.
Love it turned out fine(Cheers)✨🍺🍺🍺🍺✨👍🚗👻👻👓👻👓💀
Nice! You should customize 1 if the mid to late 60s hatchback mustangs to look like Eleanor from 60 Seconds
👍👍👍👍
That's crying out for detailing :)
Yes joy the video
As a kid in the late Sixties/early Seventies, I always preferred Matchbox cars over Hot Wheels, as I found them to be more detailed and realistic-looking.
1:50 how the hell did a spider's web get there??
zniesmaczony lol ..very small spider
I had this exact model, I did almost the exact same marker job and all. I hate my 5 year old self for absolutely demolishing it.
For cracked rear windows could you made louvers to cover up the flaws? If so, how would you go about making some?
I really enjoyed the Mustang rebuild. I'm wondering if there is a reason you didn't do anything with the wheels?
What about some tint or 3D-printed louvers on the back window to hide the crack? :)
I have the same car.
I am not sure,,i have to look at my collection Matchbox again.
I believe that there is another steering model,,
Matchbox made an Aston Martin with the same tech
My dad still has one of these, but its black
It looks good in Black it really is a shame about the back window being crack though. You can't order aftermarket windows? There isn't a company that makes that stuff?
They come up from time to time on ebay and yes there are some companies that make them.
I wonder if water thin acrylic glue would work on cracked windshields...
Yeh those were much more robust. I have a modern matchbox Land Rover discovery that had its axle snap and wheel crack after stepping on it
Yeah the old stuff is like little tanks... they are tough as nails..the modern stuff can be destroyed by an 5 year old in seconds.
I hope you realize Spectro flame is literally just a poor mans kandy paint
Why don't you paint head and tail lights and blinckers?
Edit: I always do that when I restore or modify my vintage cars
I have a old mercury station wagon matchbox and it is in need of Restoration it has the steering that uses pressure on one side or the other like you said. the front windshield is cracked and the car has been repainted a ugly blue color. on the outlines on the door and hood I can tell it used to be a lime green do you know were I can take it to be restored. thank you and have a great day!
I have the same
Where do you usually buy these vintage cars?
i have the same car
I probably missed the info in the video but what is the type of screw you use at the end? I have this exact same car and really want/need to refurbish it.
Studio Pluche go to Redline.com the only place i have seen them.
I have a 1:18 die cast chevy Cheyenne and it needs some work.
Have you ever restored the clear plastic with crystal clear epoxy?
shredBucketheadshred no but could try...
baremetalHW I'd love to see the results, I see it used in Model building a fare bit then future floor wax to finish and a polish
I have a old Cadillac like this it's good except the interior is dirty
Do you do restoration for people?
Lol I'm was one of those kid except I use nail polish on one of my matchboy car 😂😂😂
Matchbox are just better quality if not a bit more money
It been a while
Would have been nice in Bullit green.
I have one of these in rough shape cuz someone stepped on it wish I knew how to send u photo
Where do you get the screws? Plus is there a metric equivalent?
hot wheel lowrider video
What is a railrider? You mentioned it at like 4 minutes in.
real rider.. Hot wheels cars with "real" rubber tires.
hi - can you tell me where i can buy these screws? any link ? i live in uk and cant find it.
I have a question I can buy one for about an dollar but I need to restore it is it worth it?
FELTBMXFAN Danmark which car?
Do you also restore "Majorette" bran?
not very often but yes...
I had one of these exact same colour but I think my mum threw it out
