I never could get into DS9 when it was first broadcast.
I finished the entire series last year.
Utterly mesmerised(apart from a few filler episodes but hey)
I get what you are saying, about hearing his voice, someone who was never aware of my existence could have a profound effect on me just to hear his voice conjours so many memories.
      All good though.
Just started this, looking forward to getting into the story(allready got me hooked)
      Live long and prosper.

@@seanbirkett4951 yeah, a lot of people have that experience with DS9. There is a great documentary about DS9 called "what we left behind " it has interviews with loads of the cast and writers etc, well worth a watch. For me i will always have a soft spot for TNG but IMO DS9 is the best series, it was a pioneer in having long storylines that lasted many episodes, nowadays most drama of all kinds does that, and the later parts of DS9, during the war, is simply top class drama

@@swfcocs1 thank you my freind, I will search for rhe episode you mentioned.
I do so enjoy expanding my consciousness.
And I thank you for helping me do this.
I might just start ghisbseries all over again.
However I found a website that eliminates the filler episodes that do not contribute to the overall arc of the dominion war and are poor distractions to say the least.
It's funny my grandfather whom I never met(even as a babe) served as a merchant seaman and had many edventures one of which was documented in a local newspaper about a severe storm at sea in which he was injured but saved someone's life, my mother used to tell the tale with pride and I also used to listen to these tales with the same reverence as I do tonight.
Here's to absent freinds as Jim kirk would say.

Thanks for uploading this! I'm currently on Season 3 of DS9 and really enjoy it with it being my first Trek series. Rene Auberjonois did great as the narrator for this story.

If you really are beginning with DS9, you are, as I'm sure concerned friends have already advised, "doing it wrong", so to speak. In short, by not beginning with The Next Generation (much less the original ST series) before screening Deep Space Nine, your experience of the many references, relationship histories, characters, call-backs, story-lines and so on will be saliently diminished due to the significant lack of background information. The correct order to view the Next Generation family of series is of course: Star Trek TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, Below Decks (which works on every level, being hilarious but with just the right touch of drama and evoking every possible positive aspect of TNG universe's unique ontology) and Picard (even if you just watch season IIII which is a love letter to fans of The NG series and crew). All the other series are crap. Enterprise was clearly well-intentioned and does have maybe three worthwhile episodes. But with the exception of Picard and Lower Decks, the utter lameness of the many other series in production is staggering and for a wide variety of reasons. One small example of MANY huge SNAFUs: Strange New Worlds' feature technology so far beyond that which we see in Star Trek and Enterprise it's clear they threw out any pretense of timeline or technological congruence. The Federation's ships do not look old-school on the outside, and on the inside they appear as technological marvels rivaling and even outshining by far everything used in the TNG family of series. Also, the stories suck. And they respect the canon not one little bit is so many ways it's staggering. That's true of much of what Paramount pushes as Star Trek these days, Picard and Lower Decks being the exceptions. But Deep Space Nine is a worthwhile and unique entry into the ST universe so naturally you're into it. Great. But watching it without having already screened TNG is diminishing your total appreciation of DS9 so stop watching it, watch TNG, then resume and you'll be like "By Jove, that pedantically annoying Michael fellow on the Warped YT site was in the right after all. We should ask him over for tea and butter-scones with just a kiss of DMT".

@@michaelkottler thanks for the comment! I've finished DS9 but have since then started TNG. I really enjoyed DS9 as my first series, but since I finished I have read the trekkies opinions on the show and learned that when it came out it was considered pretty different from TNG and TOS up to that point in the franchise's history.
From my perspective, as a person who started with the show, I thought it was pretty good and didn't feature too many references that I couldn't pick up immediately. I did have some small knowledge of Star Trek lore before watching DS9 which helped. DS9 was a show that did take time to let people soak in different species and cultures from the ST universe organically. I do agree that I did start out of order. Because of that I'm trying to shelve some of my knowledge from DS9 for TNG since that show came before DS9.

@@michaelwisser4388 As a lifelong Star Trek fan, I think the general consensus is that DS9 and TNG are the best Star Trek shows ever made. Voyager is worth watching too but it mostly finds its footing in season 3. Enterprise was hit or miss for the first 2 seasons but it too got better with season 3. As for the newer ones, Strange New Worlds is by far the most worth watching.

@@GrimDarkNarrator I'll definitely check those out. I'm excited to see how DS9 stands up against other Star Trek series. I finished season one of Star Trek TNG which I thought was alright (I heard TNG gets better each season). DS9 will probably hold a special place in my heart forever. I'm a big fan of science fiction stories and the clashing of ideals between characters and the exploration of everyone's character was great to watch.
