Dragon ball Z Shin Budokai
Dragon ball Z Shin Budokai was released in 2006 for the PSP. It was developed by Dimps, the same company that was responsible for Budokai 1, 2, and 3. It borrows heavily from the previous entries in the series. At first glance, it appears to be a portable adaptation of Budokai 3's gameplay. Shin Budokai, on the other hand, modifies the gameplay in a few key ways, which helps to differentiate it from the games that came before it.

Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai excelled in terms of gameplay,but I found its story mode to be quite lacking.
Many individuals may think that a story mode in a fighting game isn't all that important. But I'm one of those people who plays Dragon Ball Z games for the story
Shin Budokai 2 shares many mechanics and features with its predecessor and feels more like an expansion than a sequel. So because of this I'm going to be skipping over the stuff that I already talked about in the Shin Budokai 1 video. So go watch the video on the first game if you care enough to do so.
Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai 2, also known as Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai - Another Road, is a fighting game that was released for the PlayStation Portable in 2007. It is the sequel to the 2006 game Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai and the second Dragon Ball Z game to be released for the PSP.

This game is essentially Shin Budokai 3...I'm being serious.
Dragon Ball Evolution the game is based on the movie that is based on the anime that is based on the manga. It was released on the PSP on the 8th of April 2009. 2 days before the movie came out, so if you just couldn’t wait to experience the gripping story of Dragon ball evolution, gamers could do so early. Those poor bastards.

I got this for my psp one Christmas and even though the psp is long gone I still have this game. It was goated. I love playing these vids in the background while I play video games I could listen to people talking about dbz games for hours.
This was a nice look back at the series! I actually liked the Shin Budokai games as well. Combat seemed faster and I liked having an arcade mode and being able to be Super Saiyan at the start.
I love the Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai one even though everyone hate it these days to me it fit the PSP well and I always say 2.5D graphics does handhelds best. Plus it was a Budokai 3 in the plam in your hand. The sequel it was ok it just that story mode was confusing but now I can say gave us an nice prequel with the Dragon Ball Super Trunks Arc.

I definitely prefer the og Budokai as well.
The Tenkaichi series is fun cus it's got tons of characters, but it's more like doing what-ifs while og Budokai is an actual fighting game with characters being more unique.
100% the budokai games I feel are better games in terms of gameplay while the tenkaichi games are a better dragon ball experience with the sheer amount of characters in it though most of the cast feel to similar to one another
@@najibosman6497It's so common that the Budokai and Tenkaichi Games share the same voices including Raging Blast 1, except for Tenkaichi Tag Team and Shin Budokai. If both of those games brought back the Funimation Voices, these Psp Versions of Budokai 3 And Budokai TENKAICHI 3, would've been even funner.
I actually grew up with the budokai series instead of tenkaichi but I don’t feel like I’ve missed out.

I randomly bought Another Road on PSP back in the day and loved it. Was a huge fan of Budokai 3 and didn't play Shin Budokai. But I really loved the original story they put in this, and it was great playing this at work when I had nothing better to be doing. 😂 I liked it more than Budokai simply because they took out the Dragon Rush stuff the AI LOVED to spam constantly.
That game is extremely underrated.

Love your breakdown of these childhood favourites of mine. I think your the best most the breakdowns I've seen are very robotic and just go through the motions while you actually have fun with it it's a nice change and actually brings back alot of memories I have of the games. First game I bought on psp was shin budokai. First dbz game I played was ultimately battle 22 yeah it sucked balls but when I got budokai 1 I knew they were on the right track and bought every dbz game since for playstation. Currently playing kakarot on ps5 and downloading xv2 onto my ps5 I wonder if there is much difference from my ps4 version but since I played last theres a ton of extra stuff released so cant wait been about a year since I played xv2

TbH I always felt this game series had the best gameplay in the Budokai series. Faster, very smooth, no overly long cutscene attacks, no hypermode, longer combos.. attacks looking more anime accurate.. it was so good for a Budokai era game if not the best for those reasons imo.
To this day, I still question the decision to give Give Kid Buu Assault Rain.... Now multiple games just gave it to him...

32:10, only way I got Z-rank on that mission was save-states on the emulator and used vegito and ssj3 gotenks as my allies and let them clear all the enemies first (really strong booster cards were a MUST). Since your allies will remove the enemies much quicker than your character can.
Iv only watched the first 1 min so far BUT This game was great for it's time. All we had before this were the crappy GBA games and DS ones but for someone who LOVES DB B2 and 3 this game was a great addition to be played portably. From what I remembered it was of course not as good as the main games but a watered down version is basically what every PSP game was anyway

Even though Another Road's story is sorta just retelling the Buu saga, it's a nice way to give depth to what might have happened with the Buu saga for Future Trunks at the time.
Convoluted as it is, it's still my favorite storyline.
The overworld I feel is both nice and frustrating mid game. lol
Especially when my allies die or cities gets destroyed.

Only thing that really sets Evolution the game's story from the live action movie, is that they mention Saiyans here... for some reason.
Fu Lum (Piccolo's minions apparently) looks to be the best thing about this game... they have a nice creepy design and looks to have a strange mixture of Kid Buu and Janemba's attacks & combos...

Idk I think the Shin Budokai games were better than the mainline budokai games except for infinite world. Controversial I know but the gameplay is tighter, and there’s no dragon rush or mini game mechanics for ultimates
The Budokai games are definitely superior to the Tenkaichi series. Especially the pre-HD remake versions.
And as a child, i absolutely adored the Tenkaichi series. But i stopped at BT2. I couldn't justify getting 3.
Tbh, I like them equally. Just the absence of the Budokai style for decades has me longing for it's return.
XV is nowhere near BT or even RB, but the 3D arena fighting aspect was enough to fill the hole halfway with a placebo.
Hell freakin yeah friend. This game was THE shit back when I had a psp (and literally plan to buy a one just to experience these classics again). Budokai never had a miss. All the games are solid, even evolution.

Why do you play the game's for the story when you already know the story?
Because DBZ games rarely have good story telling. So even if we know the story, there is no harm in appreciating if the story is executed well
@@orenz.272 well I understand that for a game like this because the story in this game doesn't follow the Canon story and is way different... Xenoverse is another example of a different take on the story.
big issue with SB2 is you play 80% of the storymode on that grassland plains map. Gets super boring after a while. wish they mixed it up with the other maps. Also the buu/janemba fights near the end are awful as the Ai reads your inputs.
