Hey Marcus, David's comment on growing into a book as you improve is completely applicable to the second book, Game Changer, as well. Like the first book, the layout (Effect, Setup, Method, Full Patter, Comments, Credits) is the same and the pictures are very good. If you are able to get both then I would recommend it. However, you can't go wrong with one or the other as all the tricks are audience tested and very good.

Jim, what's your opinion on the 2nd book compared to the first? Is it just as packed with tricks? If you had to get just 1 to start with, which would be your choice?

awesome review...as always. my only concern here is: with gaff decks or wallets we will often say something like "can i do this/that effect WITHOUT this gaffed deck etc.. So why dont we mention that with books often. Jason is DEFINITELY a great cardician easily top 5 in the world imo. BUT i own virtually every book, pdf etc of his and i have seldom come across an effect which would not be perceieved exactly the same from a spectator, but done in a much easier fashion. I think he has a tendency to lean indulge in his great skill a lil too much. I challenge anyone who owns one of his books, to take a few moments and think..."can't i just do this portion with a simple __ instead?" The answer in 9 of 10 of his effects will be YES. This isnt HIS fault either. Darwin (his mentor) would often do the exact same. I loved most of Darwin's effects that i saw. He and Ammar were my first dvd sets. I never liked tho how TIGHT Darwin's style was often and the frequent SQUEEZING of the deck etc. Anyway, as i progressed and became expert level myself thru the years, i would fo back and review MY roots (those old dvds). And i immediately noticed a "why did he do it that way" moment...then another, then another. So it is no surprise that unfortunatelt Jason does the same things. For me, i go for: 1. effect from spectator perception and, 2. economy and naturalism of motion.
imo, although the effects AND SKILL are top flight no doubt, they are often contrived in respect to economy of motion and could be and done sooo much easier. Just my thoughts as to why many reviewers do not mention things like this when reviewing the books. Whereas, like i said, we will do so with a gaffed deck etc.
Thanks for the compliments. I'm not being confrontational, I'm genuinely curious what effects / sleights or construction you feel could have been done easier. Again, not here to fight, just wondering what you're thinking.
@@CardMagicByJason I just saw this reply. I am an avid note taker on nearly everything I read learn do etc. I am currently out of state visiting family, however when I get back in 2 more weeks I will definitely send you a few of the items I'd noticed, if you're still curious.

You mention he doesn't hold your hand and that you need to know the slights he mentions (such as Marlo's convincing control). What book do you recommend that describes the slights in this book for us beginners who might not know all the slights he uses in the book
In the book I teach the more complicated sleights. If it's standard move like a palm, I'll tell you what book / page you can find it. Honestly, if you get Card College, you'll be able to do everything in my books.
