- Warning: this video is not flashy. So just because it may get boring please don't hit the thumbs down button 😂 Everyone gets to see and hear me chop all the time but some of you may not know but I love to lock and play music. All styles of music. I want to be known for more than just Chops or the guy who played for Suicidal Tendencies. I have toured and played with many amazing artist. From Suicidal Tendencies to El Debarge , Sly Stone , New Edition, Bobby Brown, Lillake, O'bryan and so many other big names in music. I am a musician I can play it all and when it comes time to chop you know exactly there's no end to that.
Young musicians take note. This is how you make your money.. Pocket Play. EM. knows every chop known to man, but yet he is discliplined enough to play in the pocket when it calls for it...
I'd much rather watch a pocket groove like that.
All day.
Boss. 🙏🏻
Boring? Yeah, no. That was all kinds of fire, homie.

I love this!😍😍
Eric Moore, this is my favorite video! Thank you for showing this young generation that playing the music is just as effective if not more. Being a chop champion is great but pocket will keep you paid💰💰💰💰💵💴💶💷💸💳✌
Doran Ray so true my brother. ..I love the way he just grooves A GROOVESMITH
"Being a chop champion is great but pocket will keep you paid"
Awesome.
TRUTH
brolyaxp If you go to audition for a concert or tour and all you do is chop, 8/10 you won't get a call back. The other two times were auditions for gospel chops.
brolyaxp play a gig like you play at a shed or drum-off...you will be fired🔥🔥🔥! If you are not the feature or doing a clinic, play the music.
Chops for show
Pocket for dough...
All you need to know...
Err....yo'
A tight pocket keeps your pockets tight.
Why would anyone that is a musician dislike this video, there's nothing more beautiful then having the control to continually play a groove without letting your brain get the best of it and going berserk with chops, this right here is what you should strive for, being able to groove like this is literally the pinnacle of what drumming is about, this is how you make a living, this is what producers want, the fact that at any given moment he could sink into a gospel lick and it be cleaner than anything you've ever heard while maintaining the groove but has the control to maintain his composure and just groove is amazing, for me this is hard to do without doing something I physically can't do, 15 seconds in to just playing, this is what it's about people
Keeping the pocket that's what makes a great drummer. Fantastic man
So wonderful to hear the snare actually on 2 and 4 no 2 measure fills. Nice hi hat work! This is how you get hired young people!!!!!!!!

LOL ok
NICE!!!! Sometimes, all ya gotta do IS lay the groove in order to blow minds. As a drummer with lots of groove and pocket but a very limited bag of chops, I've been ragged on for not "doing anything" (usually from guys who like to do nothing but freekin' OVERPLAY ALL THE TIME when it's not necessary). However, as I've seen many of your vids, I totally appreciate the fact that you have a huge enough vocabulary of chops in that you know when to bust 'em out, but also know when to observe restraint and stick it in the pocket! And THAT is what I'd call FAR from "boring"!
Alan Elam good to hear most drummers these days have lost the art of staying in the pocket or keeping the groove.
Good chops come from good groove. When you leave the groove to chop, that's where the suspense comes from. Of you don't have a good feeling, the rest isn't gonna happen.
I absolutely love this video ...because you just showed me that we don't need flashy chops all the time, that sometimes we got to sit down and hold the groove!!!....and you just demonstrate one of your many amazing talents!!! that's why your one of my drummers.
i think drummers with too many chops should have the warnings :) this is pretty damn sweet, no warnings needed
You don't have to justify your playing man. Anyone who knows music , knows just how amazing you are, weather you are blazing around the kit or just laying down a sweet groove. Your the man
My friend, this is the exact video I use to warm up my hands every day. Plus I have the bad habit of wanting to shred all the time and not stay in the groove. I play this from beginning to end whether I like it or not. Gotta learn how to lay the groove! So thank you. This video is perfect.
poofypuffer same here bro, nice
For the record I never saw you as a guy who can only play fast licks or a one trick pony. It's fun watching you do your thing regardless of what you play because you are a phenomenal musician. My favorite thing about you is how much you genuinely love playing the drums and encouraging the drum community regardless of our skill level! I myself struggle with chops and admire what you can do and have learned a lot from you. One of my favorite lessons one the drum channel was the one you gave, keep up the great work you're an inspiration!
He's an underrated drummer
Best Eric Moore video so far.
One thing about a drummer....he knows how TO PLAY JUST THE MUSIC this separates him from those who WANT TO BE HEARD. God bless you Mr Moore and keep doing what you are doing. You understand a GOD GIVEN TALENT which is a blessing to and for all. Many are learning from you and they are not all YOUNG either...
As a guitarist, I love watching tight drummers groove. It helps me keep my own rhythm on track. Could watch you sit in the pocket for hours! Love it!
Mannnn, the fact that that the drums/cymbals still sound this good with only camera audio speaks volumes lol.
that snare is cracking.
Dope video big homie... no chops were needed ! smashing !! lol
Fred Lester probably just a phone
Fred Lester he answered another comment on this vid sayin it was just a iphone 7 with no post edingting done
Qui Tv I think you are the best
Qui Tv and the other
Qui Tv .?
To everyone wondering the track is a remake of the song " Tell me if you still care" by The S.O.S. Band
John Simmons thanks I was wondering
Nice
Hello, did you find the track? Thanks!
63 yr old drummer here still playing. an old sound buddy recently said my playing yrs back with a busy rhythm section was the epitome of pocket,i let them be busy while i held it down. I get great pocket comments a lot. I dont have the hands i used to have but always a pocket player. when i fill in the band/ singers often say how easy it was to sing or solo w/ my groove....pocket is what gets people to tap their feet, get up and dance even when they aren't dancers, its what makes a band have that special something that feels so good....this is great stuff thanks Eric, been watching your videos a lot you have some amazing chops and feel...
I remember coming to this in January wanting to play just as smooth! Today I 100% felt locked in and it was the most rewarding feeling. Can't get enough bro!!!
Even as a marching percussionist, I dig this so much. Extremely fun to chop out to!
Poppa Eric your just showin the youngsters how to lay in the pocket. Nice groove brother.
Esse Vídeo do Cleverton Silva , ta monstro !
This Cleverton Silva Video, you monster!
czcams.com/channels/Z3YD__7E_h658YM259XBRA.html
this is playing music. these young boys don't understand that having a solid pocket is what get you looks, not the solos in the middle of a song. great video eric.
June Ward exactly been playing for 17 years and the guys that have 0 pocket or groove get made fun of
Some of the most solid playing you will ever hear. 💯 Your groove and deliverance is top notch.
I promise this just hit me, sort of an epiphany: as a drummer playing in pocket is primary. It makes a world of difference when adding fills(simple or complex) when you always play in pocket. This video is a PERFECT example of when a drummer plays in pocket and adds simple fills, sounds so crisp always coming back on the one. RESPECT!
I was told by an old school rock drummer to practice the groove and no fills try it and see how hard it is just to keep it going .When you get into the pocket the drum sticks seem to sink and you feel the groove all the way thru your body all four limbs independent so sweet .
I love chops, but this idea that musicality(pocket, groove, tone, tastefulness, finesse, etc.) is "boring" is all too prevalent. THIS stuff is what makes you a great drummer, Eric. I'd hire you in a heartbeat - if I could afford you ;-D
thirtytwobars Anybody that would think musicality is boring simply isn't a musician lol
Could listen to this all day -- literally! Those ghost notes and other subtle articulations show hella chops.
This is why I love being a gospel drummer because it keeps you disciplined and teaches you to be a pocket drummer rather than a flashy chops kind of drummer. pocket gets u gigs and makes you money. great job Eric for showing drummers everywhere how to sit back in the groove and juz play and not always shedding over every song.
Dude, from one musician to another, you have EXCELLENT meter! Your timing is perfection! I need to find a drummer like you in the Pittsburgh area! Nobody comes even close!
you havent check the churches
He is one of the best in the world. Even if guys can play chops there is only one Eric Moore... Love his feel for a song.. Very unique...
Matt M lol let him know that alot of good drummers come out of the church
I hope you post more videos like this. Really in the pocket man.
Back when I was an inexperienced drummer, Oh, I was TIGHT in the pocket, had BLING chops, and it was a gift. I'm in the studio with R. Kelly, but nobody gave me the memo that it was his song and HE was the star! I'm trying to impress the Boss, and he wasn't feeling me! I didn't get to finish the first song! Word got out about me, and after a few years of treading water, I learned a valuable lesson. I've been eating ever since that valuable lesson.
I don't get tired watching this. Great lesson!
As a 59-year-old guy who has been playing the drums for all of 1 year, I can truthfully say that this is some amazing shit. You are one of my inspirations, Eric. Thank you.
I'll take this over chops all day long. So good.
This is what you call drumming.....God really blessed those hands!
solid bruh I enjoyed it. keep teaching cats that its not about chops its about locking in with the rest of the band making the groove fat and when its time to come out do you and lock it back down ✊✊✊✊ enjoyed bruh
Thanks Eric for sharing this lesson on pocket playing. I rarely chop, and have never had a shortage of gigs. Take notes young drummers on how to be a pro✌🏾
this is what 'real' drummers love. The groove. The snare, the kick, fills when appropriate. None of that flashy business designed to show your better and faster than the other drummer.
Why would anyone give this a thumbs down?! EM is LAYING it down like no other! And he's looking sharp at the same time. C'mon somebody!
You Sir, are one of the most inspiring drummers I have ever come across. The sheer fact you see drumming less as philosophy and numbers and more as sheer enjoyment and musicianship makes me just sit behind the kit and lay into something groovy, the way I feel it. Love your work in Lillake, hope the tour is going well.
anybody who is a flashy who can do chops all day also can play in the pocket. Flashness is really for show and concerts
uh no, staying in the pocket usually comes with maturity....sometimes it's tough for some drummers to stay disciplined enough to not veer off of their emotions and they get carried away and kill the music. It's like being itchy and not being able to scratch it.
well let me put it this way. Anybody who's touring has to know how to play in the pocket or in studio and I'm saying that cause I do it. even then you still will adds a chop I'n there
Keith Turner well good for you...i've toured 3x... my point is not that choppers can't play pocket. my point is that just because someone CAN chop, and chops, doesn't mean they automatically know how to hold the pocket deep. some have musical ADD
Is this really recorded with camera audio only? Amazing sounding kit and cymbals if so. Wow
Pilot Jeff iPhone 7 no extras. If you don't know I play DW drums Zildjin cymbals and Aquarian Reflector Series heada
Eric MooreII Whats track Name?
Eric MooreII Eric, is that RAW audio from the iPhone 7, no editing?
Eric nice groove bro)) Eric what cymbals K series you use here from left side? sound realy cool! I don't recognized first from left side but second i think 18 K custom fast crash?
Simon Vidlund whats the song
🚥🥁🚥🎸🚥🎹🚥🎤🚥🔥 watched a few of his vids and think this guy is just of the hook he makes those drums and symbles sing with a groove . Top musician ..best drummer I've herd on the tube ..☝️
It's nice to see someone laying down a groove without being preoccupied with how many notes he can fit in a solo spot. He even put on a nice jacket for the occasion. :)
Dude, far from boring. Groove is EVERYTHING.
Cold Blooded!! Funky Smooth but in that concert pocket baby.... Love it!! Smooth Technique
One of my biggest inspirations to keep me going. Good to see you again at NAMM last weekend!
Those crispy hats have a real strong powerful attack!
Voilà une belle prestation au service de la musique, simple et éfficace. la musique ce n'est pas toujours de la démonstration spectaculaire. Merci Eric Moore pour ce bel exemple.
Now this is what I like the most. Just sit back and groove. Beautiful
this make you wanna light some candles cook a nice dinner for your girl or wife and keep this on repeat lol but this dude style can't be touch and he's humble. I had to learn that it's not about your chops, tricks or rolls it's your pocket
if your ass doesn't start bouncin' or foot start tappin' when you hear this ice cold steady groove... you have no soul. Great upload.
If any of the chop-freaks have sense, they will realize that it is THIS video that gives away the fundamentals to those chops...
I love pockets. Love em!! I often just behind the kit, just sittin in the pocket. It's meditative.
Im still trying to find this exact track to play too like the Legendary ERIC MORE someone help a brother out if you know it! So addictive to watch a great drummer playing to this awesome track!
I wish I had as much fun playing drums as you do, probably the happiest drummer I see on youtube. Your an inspiration my friend:)
Love it. Never heard of you or your chops but I'll remember you and your groove!
Going to find out what chops are....
Thanks for posting this, my man. You're a hell of a player, but you're right the internet is filled with videos of you going off. For me, this is truly refreshing to hear you play much more stripped back, and as you said just 'laying the groove'.
Love this! There is a HUGE place for pocket drummers staying in the groove and letting the melody and music do the work. Good stuff man.
This right is one of the favs bass playa
The ability to play everything and then constantly hold back and push pocket deeper instead of overplaying shows a true professional. Just subbed. Love the cymbals.. Those splashes are excellent!
Locking in the click...a skill sooo lacking in so many of today's drummers. Love the infectious way you attack the drums too...Simple, yes, but awesome.
Jim O'Callaghan that is exactly what I wanted the generation to understand. Pocket , groove, locking to the click. Making it disappear. ✊🏾✊🏾
Is great that you made this video "just" grooving. Anyhow is not even the chops or any drumming skill what makes you stand out...imo is the passion and happy attitude you have when playing or talking about drums. That is more inspiring to me that anything realated with techique or skills ( not that you are lacking any of those of course!! ;) )
Beautiful. This kind of playing is loved by the other musicians as it creates space for them. This kind of respect is huge. Chops? Not so much. Only other drummers care about that noise.
Nice Work Eric Moore, your so Amazing, with the Taste of Classic Groove's.
Yea man, that's nice, right from the first bar one could hear the deep groove.
One of my all time favorite drummers. Actually the only drummer in my "favorite" list that isn't a heavy metal drummer. This guy is a master artist.
Kids you better be watchin'. This is a straight G right here.
Bruhh those hats are CRISP!!! Dang those are nice sounding. Diggin it dude!! Would love to see more of these! Just groovin!
My 1 year old son is obsessed with your videos he does your movements, counts in and even "beat boxes" your beats yes I said my son is one years old it's so amazing to watch.....
And that is all most gigs call for, but still lovely to hear. DW for life!!
Solid . That's all I can say. Realy like the transition fills and hi-hat. Laying it down down brother. God bless and Aloha.
His 'no chops' are better than my best chops
Love it! So in the pocket. After a great run, walk, and swim, seeing turtle hatchlings enter the water, bopping to this music. You're a great multidimensional musician. Hats off.
This is actually much more intresting then just chops !
More pocket than a 2-for-1 deal on jeans! Love the groove.
woah, that's what you call discipline !!that simplicity makes the music feel good to the people who hear it!i think every musician needs that kind of discipline. just for the sake of music.
Best video Eric Moore has done! I've watched it over 100 times already. That groove is so hypnotic! Well done man. Keep these groove videos coming!
With out chops, it sounds like a real druming. Finally :)
Your description made me smile because as a beginner drummer I'd be so proud of myself just to play what you consider "not flashy". We all gotta start somewhere right? Fantastic groove....compliments the music well.
Thank you for recording and posting this video. As a drummer myself and a fan of yours. It is great to hear that a legend such as yourself still believes in pocket. Most drummers in 'this day and time don't believe in that. It's either chops or nothing. Again Thank you.
You have nothing to apologize for.Rock on brother, rock on.
Groove is deep, couldn't stop bobbing my head if I tried. Need more videos from you like this!
so good. nice house too. living the dream
Everyone who gets on this man's case for chopping out all the time needs to watch this video. One of the best pockets in the game for sure.
I enjoy playing (and hearing) a solid groove over chops any day. Awesome stuff!
When i'm at church I like to hear a lil chop here and there. Sometimes I just want to groove though. Love this video.
Top tier under-rated drummer, imo.
Particularly tight around the 4:30 mark.
With some very nice touches.
That kind of stuff is worth more to me than all the fast stuff put together.
Tight in the pocket stuff.
Yet moving around the kit.
With clever and tastefully understated yet completely solid moves.
Just wonderful to watch that kind of playing.
I have to rewind it constantly.
You don’t know what to expect.
And so I’m constantly surprised.
I remember someone writing about Stuart Copeland in some drum magazine years ago.
“You think you know what he’s going to play.
Then he does something else”
😂😂🙏
Great video. Love the hi hat work.. Smooth and definable in the pocket.. Love it..
Flashy chops are impressive and exciting and all that, but THIS is music right here.
Beautiful, swinging, and right in the pocket. Wonderful!
No Chops? Are you mad? There are some serious chops here. Beautiful drumming, so concise yet fluid.
lol crazy I see this is stay in stockton salute bruh keep doing your thang
all hits were on point, fills on point. going with the groove. Not all extra unnecessary fills "chops". Staying on count/tempo. Staying tight. Pocket and groove with right fills is all that matters in my book as a drummer. And what i look for. Its alot more fun and chill laid back. There is nothing to prove besides getting the jam on point with groovy feels.
I've never seen a drummer hit the same crash cymbal twice (once before the downbeat) the way this guy does... gives the cymbal more of a wash with that dynamic. Really cool
"I want to be known for more than just Chops or the guy who played for Suicidal Tendencies"
Hats off to you, mister!
Man you fried that chop man.
