    @CrawlerCanyon Před 3 lety

    It's not really a fair comparison, as the Reefs ($126) is in fact $30-45 more expensive, as you will need a BEC to run it, where the Holmes ($120) runs directly off of the battery. You're basically not getting a 555 in a truck for less than $150. Add to that the fact that the SHV500v3 is literally twice as fast, and the edge in this pairing clearly goes to the Holmes servo. End of the day, a hundred and fifty bucks for a 0.17/0.20 travel time is REAL steep. Do I need those extra few ounces of torque? Dunno. But I'll take sub-0.10sec travel every time.

      It depends on what you care about most. Both crank over 700 in torque but he Holmes is much faster. Personally, I value the extra speed. The Holmes doesn't rely on a BEC, which is a plus for me. I don't mind the noise. I have the Holmes in my SCX10 III and the Reefs in my TRX4. Both are great servos but I prefer the Holmes.

    • @rc-daily
      @rc-daily Před 3 lety

      @@karlvorndran2996 yea but the reefs takes less than 1/2 the voltage to make it and its dead silent. That constant grinding sound would likely drive me crazy. The speed doesn't bother me at all. Everything i have is a crawler and servos half as fast would still be fine. Look up the specs on the servo axial put in their 6x6. Thats a terribly slow servo but it still works ok.

    • @karlvorndran2996
      @karlvorndran2996 Před 3 lety +1

      Joshua Howell It’s not a direct comparison because the Holmes was designed to be powered direct where the Reefs was designed to be powered with a BEC so the voltage difference is irrelevant. RC cars make noise and most of the time your head is not right next to the servo like it is in the video so it really is a non-issue. If you want a very powerful and quiet servo but don’t mind that it is very slow and needs a BEC, get the Reefs. If you want a fast servo without the need of a BEC and don’t mind a little noise, get the Holmes. Well right now, get whichever you can find in-stock. Again, you can’t got wrong with either servo.
