- In the Connecticut River Valley, one can hear the echo of a steam whistle from miles away. Where iron horses can be heard stomping through the forest. Where the smell of coal smoke fills the air. These are all characteristics of The Valley Railroad, a heritage railway which has been in service for decades into the 21st century. And after a fresh December snowfall, the steam engines could not look better! In this video, we spend a day at The Valley during its peak in operations. Come with us as we see two iron horses trotting through the snow! And consider subscribing for more!

10:06 I love it when young people like myself get excited over something historic like these beautiful steam engines. I visited the Mount Rainier Railroad in Elbe, Washington over the summer, and it was like Christmas! I got to take a ride in 1950's era railcars to a logging museum, thanks to the Hammond Lumber Company's beautiful #17 geared steam locomotive, built in 1929 by the American Locomotive Company. Now that's what I call living history! You can see my videos of #17 on my channel.
The night shots of both trains are like The Polar Express.
You inspired me to do this because they're more beautiful in the winter than the spring, summer, or fall.
