I can see how lifted your spirit is in this video.
Looks awesome Matt. Please be safe!!
Never thought I'd see rollerblading in the OGHQ let alone when the Porsche was parked in there
Ha, ha... Ry is legit.
It rocks Matt...OGHQ is really looking great...Best, Kent, Texasroper
Congrats Mat! It's been a long time coming but you finally have a lift!
Love your Channel, there’s a reason we car guys do things ourself....WE ENJOY the satisfaction of it.
Damn, Matt. Your wife could replace the lift. 💪
That, my friend is trick as!! I have an 11ft (and change) high ceiling in my garage over here in the UK but not that much space between both cars, so a 2-poster would just get in the way. Having seen this I think I'm converted to a scissor lift when the time comes. Looking forward to the next OGHQ update.
This thing seems amazing. I'm very happy with my new quickjack though :)
Ok, I get what you meant. I may consider this in my main garage and use the 4 post drive on for storage. Great job.
Bingo, 4 post for storage and alignments, 2 post for main under car work, Scissor lift for everything else.
Looks great, can’t wait for the first delivery truck to come through and see some products in the building!
Congrats......looks incredible.
Fascinating equipment set up. It's always a joy watching OG.
Thanks!
Hi, thanks for the video. I have a 991.2 4gts, so the clearance is just a little over 5 inches. What is the height when the lift beds are flat? Do you think it works for me?
No, you need ramps.
Hey Matt awesome setup man. just make sure when once the hoist is raised, that you lower it without the air so the latches are locked into the safety catches.
Great job Matt.
Matt youre gonna have to start hitting the gym up harder, michelle's starting to make you look bad! lol loving the way the gargage is turning out. great seeing how supportive michelle is too!
Ha, ha... I'm back to beating her again. Down to 235, headed to 205!
Obsessed Garage Phrasing man. Hahaha
you always beat her times anyways
Just finished this series. I do like the idea of the scissor lift for detailing. 360 on the money but having a 3/4 truck the two post is looking like the best solution and with the wife having a suv. Now if I had cars I’d do this in a heart beat hence they sit low to the ground. Can’t wait for more crazy. Thanks again Matt on the walk thru on this type of lift. 👍🏻👊🏻
I think that makes sense. I didn't feel like I needed a lift when detailing my Raptors.
Are you able to take off the original blue ramps and get some longer ones made up that are higher at the end?
No, there is a slight rake to compensate for engine being in the front.
Very nice lift, Saves sooooo much room.
Just a thought, but could you get a 90 degree swivel BSP air fitting for the filter/reg inside the housing so then you could mount the solenoid back up? (The US may have a different name for air fittings, but we call them 'BSP fittings' in AUS
Ours are generally NPT, but yes, I'll probably do something like that.
When you named your channel, you were DEAD ON. I have OCD about crazy shit and I can relate to you wanting them to lift and lower at exactly the same rate. Beautiful set up man It will be sick once it's all dialed in!
I spent hours on the leveling. I would say, "Good enough." Then come back the next day and work on it more. I have to remind myself that is part of the fun.
Obsessed Garage I'd be the same way about them raising at the same rate ,if they don't then you'd have some big issues @! Keep up them good videos
Very nice Matt ! Can't wait to see the cabinets go in for that completed " Dialed-in " image i've been seeing in my mind. Also, big thanks for the shirt and licence plate frame I purchased from your website. ~ Roger
Thanks man!
Also make up a perspex case to go over the air compressor, keeps the noise down but still able to see the beauty
a very dream garage and car, greetings from Italy
Hi Matt I have a scissor which the manufacture states which end the engine should sit I can see the rear of your car is lower than the front I would try the car the other way round and see how it looks.Great lift for easy access.
Yes, I noticed that as well. RS should probably go on backwards.
Now I get it. It is cool. Didn’t until I saw the GT3RS on it.
Matt FYI Red round switch off to the right top will be prone to wearing out quickly, you can always replace it with a cutter hammer unit, at the winery we use the same set up for giant pumps to pump wine from one tank to the other, those dang switches usually fail on us, yours might have a steel rod underneath the switch that goes down to the actual control switch and that usually has settings and internal breaker it’s self, pretty cool set up though can’t wait to get your opinion on this lift after you get dialed in👍
Looks great Matt as if you didn't already know. Man I'd love to have one of these in my garage, I can dream!
Thanks Mark!
the purpose of this channel is the educate us guys who wanna make their garage even better DOING IT THERE SELF so please people shut up and let Matt do his thing you go MAtt
Amen! Ha, ha...
what are the concrete requirements?
Man that looks solid even for mechanical work
Mat could you stack the Swiss track with transitions in place of the blocks to raise the car up?
No, the tiles on top of each other are super slippery. Plus, I need about 2" of extra height.
Nice man! I'm jealous!
Matt. Been looking at this lift for 3 months. I want to order it for my. Home garage. Is there a way to contact you. Either email or phone. Since you have set one up and installed it. Your the best guy to talk you. Thanks.
matt@obsessedgarage.com
what is the benefits over this lift or like a four post?
A four post would be better for alignments and storage under it. You would need center jacks to get the tires off the lift, so there is an extra step. For polishing, the posts and in the way.
Hey Matt.
You could colour code all the lines so not to get confused.
❤️❤️🇬🇧
Nice Buddy, quick question. At certain angles it looks a little rear heavy. How stable is it back to front on there. I'm aware of the 700lb odd difference front to rear but wasn't sure if that would cause any issues with balance while on the lift?
Be Safe Brother :D
You could jump up and down on the wing if you want to, but I'll likely back to RS into the spot. These are raked largely to compensate for the engine normally being in the front.
Obsessed Garage ah cool brother. Was just a thought is all. Mighty impressive lift, look forward to more updates with the monster compressor and stuff. Loving this 😎 take care Matt 👊🏼👍🏼
I have to agree that this lift is much more suited for OGHQ, than a 2 post. It keeps with the clean and streamlined look.
Agreed.
To the person who said garbage...he’s just Obsessed man, not all videos are for everyone....im long timer here, and seen most of his vids...they are lengthy, yes, then just scroll thru the slow parts etx.... he’s actually very informative for someone looking to do this exact lift. But i do agree, having family under car seemed a little scary man, especially if it isnt 100% setup. I think the kids etx should stay away from it at least 10’ or so. Nothing happened, so lets not all harp on it..... just be safe man .
Btw Matt, i always find myself telling the wife i have shit “dialed in” now haaa. I just moved to a house with sprinkler system, and had to “dial” them in ...
whats the sq of your garage looks huge
It's 2000 sq. ft.
Fairytale life my friend...from family to business.
Any reason why you didn’t get a normal hoist ?
This is better.
Sounds like a little kid at Christmas! LOL
That is soooo friggin cool. But i know my rusty sheriffs badge would be twitching every time i used it.
Looks great. At 10:00 doesn't it worry you a little that the all the weight of the engine is outside of the scissor lift? No chance it'll slide off the back of the lift?
Nah, it's on there solidly.
Can I ask the point of this ramp/workshop? Are you going to be tearing car downs etc? Seems like a huge outlay for the something that won’t be used daily. Either way nice video.
Changing oil, rotating tires, performing modifications, brake changes, polishing, etc, etc.
You will need some yellow safety lines painted on the trax to signify “no unauthorised” entry :)
You can't recess the lift into the floor, but you can build a 4-5 inch high platform around the lift which would have the same effect. Build it out a foot or two and taper the edges of the platform so as not to trip over it and make it easier to drive the car up onto it.
Obsessed Garage I’m looking forward to the upcoming undercarriage detailing series! 😁 Actually, I just cleaned the undercarriage of my car yesterday. Do I have a problem?
Ha, ha... Mine's looking pretty clean now.
That lift would be so slick recessed in the floor. I'm sure picking $250,000 in the air was a little scary the first time lol!
That is a massive garage. What are the dimensions?
It is 40' x 50'.
when the gt3 RS is all the way up it looks like it is unevenly weighted
I think it will be more balanced if backed in with Porsche since all the weight is at the back. It seems center line of the lift moves forwards as it moves up.
So sick! Are you going to let friends do oil changes? 🤣
Sure!
Try the RaceRamps CLR-4 to get the RS to clear the lift
Those only work on the narrow low rise frame type lifts. I'm having a solution made that will make more sense when I show it.
Man, be careful working under that thing! Looks great though!
Now I'm in this situation. Chair, manual YT. Thanks.
not sure about that hoist I would of went with the traditional hoist like you did for Adam lz but good job mate
This is much better.
Matt, what I might consider trying would be to make a second level “island” of swisstracks about the size of your truck on top of the first layer of swisstracks around the lift. Then, have the platform flaps/ramps sit on top of the two-high stack of Swiss tracks. I believe you said the tiles are about 3/4” thick, so this would get you 3/4” closer to the full recessed experience. If the “island” has the edge trim pieces on the approach, the cars would first climb up that, then with 3/4” less height to climb up the ramp, and a lesser approach angle on the flaps, this may negate the need for the 2x6s. I’m sure you’ve got the Swiss tracks pieces around to at least test a proof of concept...
Essentially, make this: goo.gl/images/jqAZ1v and sit the ramp flaps on top of both layers of swisstrax, is what I’m thinking could get you close to the experience of being flush, when cutting into the floor isn’t an option.
3/4" doesn't quite solve my problem. It needs to be about 1 3/4."
Obsessed Garage 3 layers of swisstrax, then? Haha. Yea, I knew it wouldn’t get you flush, but thought it might be enough to avoid catching like the first time with the S2k. Either way, I’ll be watching to see what you make work in the end!
Are you sure it gets only a “little scary” when it speeds up at the end? I almost had a heart attack when it got so fast at the end.
After watching all of these I think that’s really neat but very limited. It’s better than quick jacks sure but for me and most people this is so much more to setup and offers only a small advantage. I’d prefer a four post lift as I can utilize the space underneath for parking another car.
My other takeaway is I would highly prefer something like this professionally installed and calibrated. That said I admire what you are doing, just be safe as you are bypassing safety features that are there for your protection and learning as you go which is a recipe for having accidents.
What can you do with a four post lift besides changing oil and park a car underneath? It’s pretty much useless to most people.
My wife would have zero interest and would be there with a glazed look on her face.! Looking forward to the Rupes series.
Lowering speed seems a lot better now.
Yes, it's all dialed in.
Obsessed Garage damn! That’s how I should have said it. “Dialed in”.
That garage is a little messy...
Haha just kidding looks fabulous
Ha, ha... Thanks man.
Hey Matt, why don't you just buy shorter blocks so you could fit them without those wood chunks under the car? The lift looks so sick man, can't wait to see the first installing videos whit your car lifted up...
On the RS they would work, but the S2000 is too tight.
Matt, Im part of the obsessed garage family, and Im also a state certified electrical contractor here in Florida, would love to help you our with your electrical needs... I could show you how to obsessed over electrical work....
That would be cool man. Where are you located?
Im located in Sebastian , just south of Melbourne Fl.
Hockey pucks! Lightning fan?
To me it looks unstable up in the air. The back of the car looks like it's about to fall over. could someone explain this to me because it does not look safe?
You could hang on the car with 10 people. It's not going anywhere. There is a slight rake to the lift.
That lift is sick. May I suggest modifying the lift and cutting the damn speaker that makes the beep out.
The first thing I would do with this is find that dam speaker and pull the wire that sounds is horrible.
Nice video, kids are growing up fast, be safe
OMG, my family would never play under a car on a lift.
Okay
Matt - like you I have ALWAYS wanted a lift! I am asking a sincere question as to WHY you went with the Scissor style as opposed to the style that comes in from the sides with 4 lift pads. I suppose each style has its advantages and disadvantages but I am quite curious as to WHY you chose this style. The other thing that is soooo annoying is the beeping on the way down. I could understand it beeping for a second or two, but the continuous beeping is quite obnoxious! Is there a way to "adjust" it?? I'll be very interested in how you solve the problem of driving the very low clearance cars onto it - as the wood looks a bit dangerous. You should ask the Swiss Track Tile Guys if they have anything out of the same material that would work - it would look very Professional that way.
I have never even considered getting a 2 post lift. The are harder to get in and out of the car, and you can't access the side of the car.
I HAVE used (many many times) the two post type and you ARE correct about getting in and out of the vehicle - it is very tight! Score 1 for the sScissor type.
I could see maybe mechanically speaking, a 2 post would be better because the undercarriage is more exposed but I guess for him detailing cars, the scissor lift is best because it frees up the entire side of the vehicle. I was wondering the same thing too haha.
I was wondering the same thing but then I remembered he isn't a "mechanic" he is a "detailer" I am guessing that all he cares about is getting at the body panels and everything else takes a back seat. :)
Careful... ! Kids & Wife under the RS? 🤨
Um... It's a lift. That's what they are designed to do.
Matt I think you should back in with Porsche (rear engine cars) as it looks uncomfortably rear heavy as it move up and center of scissor moves forward.
It's fine, but the lift does have a rake to it.
Matt, noticed the tag.....are you a mason ?
I am not. I'll be covering up the logo with a Villanova V. I ordered some vinyl that's taking forever.
Beep delete please.
Matt’s more excited getting the lift than when he picked up the GT3 RS at the dealership.
Ha, ha... This is probably true.
That can't be level when it's a flat surface with a level and it's up on the end
There is a slight rake to it.
Seems complicated to operate
It's not finished being set up. He needs electrical work done and the hard lines for the air compressor hooked up and it'll be as easy as using 3 buttons to raise/lower his car
First :)
Matt sometimes you just need to hire someone to do certain things.......
Matthew Fleshman Why? The man enjoys doing it for himself and learning in the process. I’m sure he knows his limitations. He didn’t clean his roof or wrap his car in PPF.
Stop telling me what to do.
I think he did an awesome job for not doing that type of shit every day. He didn’t cut corners which I can definitely appreciate. I think the fact that he knew to put tape on his masonry bit says alot. Most noobs would just drill first and ask questions later. I thought he did awesome. I know I would have gotten pretty shitty at the small hydraulic issues he was having.
Obsessed Garage wow dude, clearly you can't not handle any level of criticism. I have been watching your channel for along time. Not anymore dude. Good luck
Don't get your panties in a bunch. Clearly you can't handle any level of criticism.
Am i the only one who was freaking out seeing Matt’s family walking under that thing? All i kept thinking was “all the weight is in the back.” This video made me really uncomfortable. I would never put that car up without a full tank of gas in it, and some extra weight in the frunk. Be careful Matt.
You could swing off the rear control arms with ten people. That car isn't going anywhere.
Obsessed Garage okay Matt, it just looked sketchy. Didn’t mean to rain on your parade.
Well..."it's not any car, it's a $200K car.." does the lift care whether it's a $200K car? This comment and watching your kids running around under the car = unsubscribe!
In fairness, it's actually a $220,000 car.
You, sir, are a moron. Yes, the 200k comment could seem a little off but she was commenting on how cool the bottom looked and it seemed she thought all cars looked that way, he informed her this car looks a little different than most on the underside. That lift is perfectly safe. Both lifts have safeties in place that increase the safety height every few inches automatically. If you listen close you can hear the clicking on the way up. But hey man, GOOD RIDDANCE!!! ;)
@@sirgriffinman dont slip on the beadmaker on your way out.
Matt I can not believe you let you wife and kids get under the car. That was really careless dude. Not cool.
Matthew Fleshman lol really? If I had my family with me ide do it too.. even if the motors gave out there's atleast 4 lock rods to save it from falling... it's cool to go under a car.. Stop being a vagole
You are wrong
It's a 7000 pound lift bro.
Hey look, another genius! I guess Matt should never work under it if it can't hold his 3.3k lbs car?
I knew someone would make a comment like this. Yeah he stopped Ryan from going under it while the lift was raising, which is good since the safety locks had not engaged yet. But once it’s up it’s pretty unlikely to fall.
