- Jet plane in a rocking chair
Roller coaster roll nowhere
Deaf and dumb old dancing bear
Ill change this heart of mine
This time, this time
Sea cruise in a diving bell
Run a mile in a wishing well
Soft soap and nothing to sell
Ill change this heart of mine
This time, this time
Here comes the real thing
Ive been waiting, for so long
For so long
Ive been looking for a love like you.
Crossed-line on the telephone
Crossed eyes and a canny moan
Cross fingers and head for home
Ill change this heart of mine
This time, this time
Play sick in a feather bed
Act cool when youre stony dead
Im a fool with a size one head
Ill change this heart of mine
This time, this time
Here comes the real thing
Ive been waiting, for so long
For so long
Ive been looking for a love like you
Jet plane in a rocking chair
Roller coaster roll nowhere
Deaf and dumb old dancing bear
Ill change this heart of mine
This time, this time
This time, this time
This time, this time - Hudba
People really do complain a lot rather than accept what an artist expresses. This is brilliant and perfect, no complaints here!!!
Her voice is perfect.
Pour Down Like Silver is my favorite, I think, from that era.
Thanks for bringing this to CZcams!
Richard & Linda Thompson worked wonders together!
While on a hard earned vacation (up in the winding hills of Asheville, North Carolina) from a miserable, brutal maual labor job, in the Spring of 2018, this particular version of this particular song helped inspire me to ask Shari (who is now my wife) to become my very own, real life version of LINDA Thompson....
6 years later, I do not regret that decision!!!
Beautiful.
1975 God was it really that long ago I'm getting old
Great live one!
Why are people complaining about this? It's live, it's excellent and I like it more than the album version.
True Love Travels A Hard Road....
From the sublime and brilliant album Pour Down Like Silver. It must have been cold in that studio. Thanx Grey Whistle Test.
I think I heard that Richard had flu. Such troupers!
Absolutely brilliant.
Thanx for uploading x
!
@neilapayne Linda is singing the dominant melody. Richard will occasionally sing the tonic notes as well, which will make it sound confusing, but he his primarily singing 3rd and 5th harmonies. So, while it is clearly written best as a duet, if you are to perform it alone, sing Linda's part.
I liked the original, but this mix has grown on me.
On the self-titled album on which this song was originally featured, there was a dominant melody line, sung mostly by Linda, if I remember right. I prefer that version to this, but I think I can hear it only in memory. Unless there's a youtube of that version somewhere.
Karen Beadling There is now Karen as of October 2017 anyway.
@davidlenander how true that is
@neilapayne try using a different browser or PC. Or download it using the free software from DVDVideoSoft or play it at 240p
want a rare concert of RT and Linda on dvd-r?? Go to ioffer...
@MorningGirl1 mine too!
just come upon this thread...having nice wander around R&L this am. I have to agree...its the key isn't it? almost a different song. Shame. Anyway off for a little "Withered and died"
Thye were still working out their harmonies. Both got much better over time.
It sounds like they miked this wrong - that Linda's harmony part drowned out Richard's lead.
Perhaps the "wrong miking" has to do with which voice people would rather hear--it was often said then that Richard's voice was an "acquired taste." He's gotten to be very much better since then, and of course, many (including me) liked him well enough. But she had (and has) a phenomenal voice. I'm partly kidding here, about the miking and Richard's singing, but not about LInda's.
@padraigpurseal
Not sure what you are referring to. I did not mention his guitar playing, nor their ability to play live. I simply stated I prefer the song played in the same key as the recorded version. This is pretty much an exact copy of the record, the only difference being Linda's vocal drowns out Richard, and its in a different key.
Love the video but would have been better if the song was in the right key. It isn't close to the album version.
You’re telling Richard Thompson that the key is wrong? 😂
It can't possibly match the album version since it's missing the soaring brilliance of John Kirkpatrick's squeeze box.
fck
It would have been better if they'd mixed it in Dobly. Still good, though.
share then.
