Your laugh is cute ...u don't have to apologize for laughing especially when during appropriate times. It's oversimplified

It is really amazing to get the perspective of people living in a formerly Soviet subjugated country...though the laughing was a bit unexpected, you folks found this video funnier than just about any reactors I have ever seen watching it. I did have a couple of comments regarding specifics from the reaction...sorry it is so much text. 😁
There were not really any "McCarthy Trials"...that is just a generic term used to refer to the complicated story of Republican Senator Joseph McCarthy. He became a huge public figure by making somewhat wild claims about the number of agents the Eastern Bloc had managed to infiltrate into various parts of the American government. He started out claiming he had a list of over 200 employees of the State Department that were members of the Communist Party...a claim which the head of the State Department loudly denied. However, McCarthy was able to win reelection to the Senate on his reputation as a fighter against communism in the US government, and also was made Chairman of the Senate Committee on Government Operations...and that gave him the power to hold hearing on the level to which the US Army had been infiltrated by Communist agents. These became known as the Army-McCarthy Hearings, but as I said many people just call them the McCarthy Trials, and they began in 1953. But McCarthy was not a real fighter of Communism, he was much more a con man and a buffoon. The way he ran the hearings, such as the actions he took to actually falsify evidence, brought him to complete and utter disgrace...his polling numbers gave him a 50 percent or better approval rating at the start of the hearings, but by the time they were over in 1954, only 34 percent approved of McCarthy. LOL Like I said, it is a really complicated story, so even after writing all that, I encourage you to read up a bit for yourselves.
The part that Oversimplified left out that is important to know is that the USSR really had spent a long time infiltrating spies into the US, and recruiting agents to provide information to them...their efforts started in the 1930s mostly with US companies that the Soviets wanted to steal technology from. But later in the 1930s, and especially during the time when the US and USSR were Allies in WW2, the USSR recruited more and more people in the US government...and while McCarthy's claims were pretty ridiculous, there was a significant Soviet network of spies and agents in the State Department and in other parts of the US government. For instance, the Soviets thoroughly spied on the US project to build the first atomic bombs, and Stalin was almost as well aware of the progress being made as Truman was. Obviously, paranoia about Communism was a major driver of the Red Scare, but the Soviets own spying activities were also a significant factor in making the Red Scare happen.

Standard note that I post on this one...copied and pasted.
This is not one of Oversimplified's better video series, they leave out too many pivotal events, and too many of the things they talk about are just not based on the latest historical data. In this one, the biggest even they do not talk about is the Suez Crisis of 1956, which was a hugely impactful event in the early Cold War. It was the reason why several European nations...including Turkey...were demanding that the US deploy nuclear weapons on their soil as part of the NATO defense commitment. That happened because Khrushchev blustered about using Soviet medium range and intermediate range missiles to nuke Europe if Britain and France did not back down in Egypt. But Oversimplified just left too much out of this one...to the point where it goes far beyond oversimplification...they should not have made this series so short. They spent around 20 more minutes covering the US Civil War, a conflict that lasted less than 5 years, than they did on the 50 years or so of the Cold War.✌

      Its true

Although its worth noting the US and USSR broadly agreed that France/UK/Israel needed to leave the Suez didn't they (like they did on the end of the colonial empires)? The Cold War was so long and complex you can never cover everything, even in summary...so the focus was likely on those areas where US/USSR were at loggerheads.

You are very cute) i was born in far east russia. My grandparents and one of my parent are ok about communism. But they didn't know nothing about what it is in real, and how they may live in democratic state, i think. Ask me a questions, if you want
