After playing Pokemon my whole life I'm finally taking on the challenge of catching every pokemon and creating my own living dex... but because I hate myself, this Pokedex is going to be completed as a pokeball only challenge as well. This includes legendary and mythical Pokemon from DS games and Switch games, like Sword and Shield, Legends Arceus, Brilliant Diamon and Shining Pearl... and even Pokemon Go. There may even be some shiny Pokemon if you look hard enough.
Oh and this took so long to make that the whole point was to complete the challenge before Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were released but atleast it was finished before the Pokemon Home compatibility update is out. That's still the point, and trust me it came real close to the wire.

One of the other Reason Why you cant transfer Spinda out and in to bdsp is they mess up the spots randomizer for it, if you were able to transfer a Spinda from the old games in to it your original spots would have been inverted. So instead of fixing the texture so that it works, it seems like they gave up and just made it so you cant trade it out or in 😑
I assumed it was something like that, typical ILCA to give up half way 😅 Still waiting on that Home update 🙃
Can’t even do it from Pokémon Go. Go is really useful for getting Legendaries and Mythicals, but not Spinda. I can’t complete my dex!
@@spencersholdenGo has a slightly better reason for not being able to transfer at least, Go only has like 9 different patterns for Spinda and they can’t just have those patterns transfer exactly to Home because of the way the spots are calculated

A few years back I decided to do a living dex where I got every pokemon from their home regions, I used glitches for mew and the extra fossils in gen 1 and gave myself the events for some early gens but I was trying to do it legitimately. Along the way I got a full odds shiny Thunderous!
An origin Dex seems like a really fun idea that I'm tempted to try and chip away at 🤔 I'm jealous of that glorious people genie
@@Paneye the real fun building a living dex starting in gen 3 and the gamecube games. Then pushing my pokemon forward to gen 5. I realized my gen 5 dex was done years ago. It took so long but I got the complete national dex in pokemon emerald. I'm at 991 out of 1012. Currently playing legends arceus.
@@JoeZanDeathKiller The GameCube games are a bit of a blind spot along with Black and White 2 for me since I never got them as a kid. You've definitely made me want to go back and play them now I can afford them myself though 😆
Wow nice work I have a complete origin dex in Home and a living dex in virtual console Red, Crystal, Platinum, Black 2, Alpha sapphire and Pokemon sun. Unfortunately I never finished the Gen 3 living dex because I never had access to a GameCube.
I actually do the Poké Balls only rule just playing the game regularly, it makes the games more fun to me. Maybe my catching luck is just godly, but it feels insultingly easy if I use specialized balls, and I like having my Pokémon have some level of consistency throughout. Only exception is sometimes I’ll catch groups of Pokémon, I.e. battle teams, in a different set of balls depending on their themes
I think it's something you've just got to try to understand 😅 I finally got my friend to start doing it with gen 9 using your exact reasoning
I’ve been thinking of trying this but with friendship balls or luxury balls, or if I really want to have everyone questioning if I’m ok or not, love balls. (Just because I like the way they look) Also a streamer I watch is doing a living shiny paldea dex in premier balls. Edit to add: not sure how I’m going to get the starters in the correct balls.

Congratz on the completion, I'm currently in the Phase Zero of my "Insane Pokemon Home Origins Living Forms Dex"
My rules:
1) Every Pokemon needs to come from their 1st debut game (so versions exclusives are annoying)
2) Gender differences are included even if they only appear in later version, (bonus points if you get both genders anyways)
3) Myticals/events are the only ones "time traveling is allowed" and are not included in rule #1
4) Pokemon must be captured in pokeballs if possible
5) 3ds virtual console GBA games are allowed
6) OT for everything (if possible)
7) Since you can technically get most Pokemons in SV in one game they must all come from the same game
8) Bonus point for any shiny pokemon
Phase Zero is purchasing all the games I'll need to complete the dex (26/37 games owned)
Phase One is to complete all the games to the post game
Phase Two is to make a nice catching team to bring along for the ride
Phase Three is to catch all the pokemons on Ruby and Sapphire
Phase Four is to catch all pokemons on 3ds (Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver and Gold;Diamond, Pearl, Platinum; Black/2 & White/2; X&Y, Sun/Moon, USUM; ORAS (for Hoppa))
Phase Five is to catch all pokemon on switch (Let's GO, Sword&Shield+DLC, PL:Arceus; Scarlet&Violet+DLC)
Phase Six is to get Pokemon Go exclusives and Furfrou
Phase Seven transfer all pokemon to Home and get Magerna Origins Form
A decent amount of these Phases are already started or completed

Youll need to either trade a ditto to gen 3 ruby sapphire or play through the games 9 times, at least 3 full playthroughs. Starters and beldum line mainly. Also, dont forget to set the time correctly if you have a dead battery as tides have snorunt and spheal tide level exclusives. Also, dont use berries since youll need a lot for milotic and cant get more with a dead battery

Just to help out with meltan in go, the mystery box gives you on average 39 meltan not 39 candies; each meltan gives you 3 candy upon catching, then 1 extra per transfer. If you use a pinap, that's 6 per catch. In one session, then, that's 272 candies (without pinaps, it's 156). In three days, with just two usages of the box, you can evolve a meltan. And, without candies, it's like one week in real time to get the melmetal.
That's actually super useful for when they eventually put Shiny Meltan out into the wild again, thank you! 😊

This is pretty much the Goh run of Professor Oak's challenge. If you didnt know, Goh caught a Suicune with a normal Pokeball.
I've seen it but didn't catch that detail ironically 😅 Not a fan of Goh but I can respect him a bit more for that 😆

This is actually crazy because I do the exact same thing. I’m about 70~% done with my living dex and catch every Pokemon with a pokeball minus some shiny hunted mons I’ve used the master ball for (shiny Raquaza from HG/SS and shiny Arceus from BDSP). Congrats man! I’m hoping that in a year I can complete mine. The biggest issue I’m running into is some mythicals ;-;

Also, since you didn't mention it in the video, remember that Battle Bond Greninja, Own Tempo Rockruff and Power Construct Zygarde (for both the dog and snake forms) are officially considered different forms.
Finally, one question, are you also checking the "undepositable forms"?
Basically, as you probably know, some forms cannot be stored on Home, but you can still unlock them there if you meet certain conditions.
In case you're interested, I will list them below (as of today):
- Forms that depend on items get added automatically (all mega evolutions, Primal Groudon, Primal Kyogre, Origin Palkia, Origin Dialga, Origin Giratina, Plates Arceus, Drives Genesect, ROMs Silvally, Crowned Zacian, Crowned Zamazenta).
- Forms that depend on abilities or moves get added if you deposit that specific pokemon with that ability or move (Weathers Castform, Sunshine Cherrim, Zen Darmanitan, Zen Galarian Darmanitan, Pirouette Meloetta, Ash Greninja, Blade Aegislash, Complete Zygarde, Busted Mimikyu, Gulping and Gorging Cramorant, Noice Eiscue, Hangry Morpeko, Hero Palafin).
- Fusion forms get added when you transfer both the pokemons needed for the fusion (Black and White Kyurem, Dawn Wings and Dusk Mane Necrozma, Ice Rider and Shadow Rider Calyrex).
- Active Mode Xerneas is automatically registered when Xerneas is deposited.
- School Wishiwashi is automatically registered when you deposit a Wishiwashi with the correct ability that is also at least level 20.
- Meteor Minior is automatically registered when at least one of the Cores Minior with the correct ability is deposited.
- Ultra Necrozma is automatically registered when you have registered at least one between Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings Necrozma.
- Eternamax Eternatus is automatically registered when Eternatus is deposited.
- Gigantamax forms are automatically registered when you deposit the wanted Gigantamax-able pokemon who also possess the Gigantamax factor. About Gigantamax forms, keep in mind that Urshifu is the only pokemon whose Gigantamax form is different depending on the base form (you won't need, for example, to have each Alcremie form with the Gigantamax factor, just one will do). Also, despite being visually the same, Gigantamax Appletun and Gigantamax Flapple are actually two separate forms.
I got all those but skipped over them for the sake not making the video 2 hours long 😅 I just need to get a couple Pokémon with GMax forms I'm missing but I got the main ones like Urshifu and some rarer ones like Charmander and Squirtle lines with the GMax factor

Bro, you are EXACTLY like me! I HAVE to catch every Pokemon in their male form (if possible) and in a regular Pokeball. I saw a post back in the day saying Male Pokemon were stronger than female and it just stuck in my mind. I know it's not true, but I just can't shake that mindset.
I've added a few rules for myself though, like if a Pokemon looks very feminine and it CAN be a male, I'll just catch it as a female (i.e Primarina) but yeah it's good to know there's other crazy people out there like me 😅great vid too btw.

Fun fact though, gender was determined through stats back in gen 2, so there was some truth to them being stronger than females... at least up until gen 3 😅

These rules are literally how I’ve played Pokémon since gen 2
I'm not the only one 😅 Playing the games normally just feels like cheating now
I have been working on what i call the ulti dex, it is a living dex, shiny dex, form dex, a male and female of all applicable pokemon, a shadow dex consisting of pokemon with the ribbon you get for purifying the shadow pokemon in the gamecube games, and a shiny shadow dex. My road block is the gen 6 mythical pokemon
That's gonna be so satisfying if you manage to finish it 😆 Unless your okay with exploits you might have to hope the unobtainables like Meloetta and Victini get new events unfortunately 😕
@Paneye I am going to do it without exploits, I have meloetta in pokemon go and I have a victini from all the way back in pokemon white when they distributed it with a code in the case

I'm actually kinda doing the same thing, but instead of catching them in pokeballs I have to catch them from their original regions on the same save files. If I can't get them in those games then I have to live with a gap until I can. I have to play through twenty games, eighteen for the nine generations plus dream radar and legends arceus. I actually only have bdsp and legends to complete now, and I'm gonna be missing pretty much all the mythical pokemon except arceus, deoxys and magearna because I didn't wanna do any mystery gift exploits
Also for anyone wondering the longest game so far was soulsilver at 40 hours of play time because grinding is so slow in those games
That's seems really fun... Minus the grinding 😅 I might try and do the same but just do it as a challenge for myself and not a video

If you ever try it I highly recommend playing the original black and white because you can skip dream radar entirely and only have to get zorua from b2w2 which is MUCH faster

this is such a fun challenge (that i will try one day) ,i remember how satisfying it was when i finished a Pokedex for the first time in ultra sun,i spend weeks trying for Guzzlord and couldn't find it in the wormholes so i counted my Guzzlord GX from Pokemon TCG since it's an official Pokemon game(and it was a rainbow version so maybe it was a shiny)
So satisfying when it was all done, just don't put a time limit on doing it because that was the only stressful part 😅

"12 hours for 3 whole pokemon" i feel it, except i traded those pokemon for iron leaves and walking wake since i missed those events. which means for living dex i have to do it all over again, again. i also tried to living dex before scarlet and violet. i failed.

@@Paneye it was worth it for me as I had no other way to obtain those otherwise. I can pretty easily, albeit a bit timely, get the few Pokémon back again. It didn’t seem that difficult of a task until everyone was asking for furfrou trims or impossible mons for the grass goat, electric zebra, electric tadpole/eel and grass snake. (Sorry forgot their names at the moment) and mythicals. omg mythicals I hated trying to source mythicals and admittedly I ended up just asking for some genned ones. I will replace them if/when I can with legit versions.
@@paulhord8081 Yeah, it starts simple and gets to be a lot really fast 😅 I had to make a spreadsheet just for the mythicals to see if I'd actually be able to finish it in the first place
39:35 the dlc has both an overworld spawn and den that canbe authentic
Forgot about both of these in the stress of the moment 😅 They do have lower odds of being authentic though so I'd be curious to see which way would get an authentic version faster 🤔
Been working on my living dex slowly over the years even before HOME was out. I'm going through and getting a living regional dex in in every game and every possible pokemon you can get outside of that and using the origin games of Pokémon as the Pokémon I use for home. Just currently stuck on Sinnoh because of the various post game pokemon you can get with all the various methods, like swarms and the game packs in thr ds system.
Nice 🙂 Doing the regional origins slowly with my shiny dex currently, and I know what you mean with the sinnoh games 🙃 Even just getting the Shiny charm before Home, I was stuck waiting for a Pidgey swarm for weeks before I went to Reddit to see if anyone would trade one to me
currently there is only one pokemon I've never owned "Meltan" (I got the evolved form for transfering a pokemon from GO, so the only reason I redownloaded it just to move over an Eevee) but in Home I've seen all but 38/1010 (including the Walking Wake/Iron Leaves)
I'm hoping there's no more Pokémon exclusive to Go but given I had to re-download it just to get the roaming form Gimmighoul it may be that way for atleast a little longer 😕 silver lining is that atleast Meltan is the easier of the two to get I guess 😅
@@Paneye I got the roaming Gimmighoul from a trade on Home, so only Meltan is the only pokemon I've never had a copy of (real or one of the "fake" ones that get traded around that have website names)

Those bonus rules are how I think I've played every game since atleast gen 4 😊 only learned the what the gender symbols meant as a kid in Leaf Green and it was self imposed torture from there 😅

This video was insane to watch. The amount of time this took i cant imagine. I was just wondering though where Dusk Mane (Necrozma+Solgaleo), Dusk Wings (Necrozma+Lunala), and Ultra Necrozma (Either form+Necrozma) are. Idk if you would count these as different pokemon, i do, but I can see why you would characterize them as a different form.
Thank you! I'd definitely count them as forms similar to fused Kyurem or Calyrex but unfortunately you can't store any of them in Pokémon Home or Bank 😢 Would love ILCA to add the ability to in future but that's not looking likely 🙃

last year i also did my pokemon home dex, the only problem is that i only own a nitnedo switch and a phone 😅... so yeah i play the trading game a looooot
Thankfully Scarlet and Violet add a lot of the DS only Pokémon in so you can get closer to finishing you Dex and the DLC might add more 🤞 The TCG is something I really want to get into, seems fun but don't know any people who actually play 🙃

I actually love Surskit and Masquerain, they’re my favorite Pokémon of all time
They've actually got a pretty memorable design, although Volcarona is probably one of, if not the, favourite Pokémon of mine personally
@@Paneye Fair enough. I’ve just always liked them since I was a kid. I had a couple of their Pokémon cards, and nowadays that blossomed into getting a collection of every Surskit and Masquerain printing in the TCG in the highest rarity that I keep in a lock box because they are my most prized possession, even if they aren’t worth much. I plan to get them graded eventually

I'm getting close to a Living Dex with all forms. I'm looking forward to watching this and hoping you've got some insight on HOME organization, because for me, that's the worst part - where do I put different forms? What about shiny and event Pokemon? Etc.
Cheers! I've only just organised everything to be honest 😅 I used supereffective.gg as a base and have all my shinies in pokedex order in the last boxes. Other than that I like to keep legendaries and event pokemon in the game they originated in. Hope that helps ☺️

in 2019 i got an used copy with 50% of a living dex complete, so i decided to finish it, now i'm currently at the end of my ultra moon dex, now i'll just need 2 generations of games i have no way of getting lol

Like you I am doing male for main dex however the mons with a difference on gender like Wooper, Eevee, Pyroar etc I have am getting both.
Getting all form variants such as Rotom forms and Flabebe line and vivillon
All my switch games have shiny charm so i can work on my shiny dex at the same time. In which my first shiny Lechonk, Skiddo, Tarountula and Pawmi have appeared.
Going for the full form dex straight away, nice 👍 Just finished collecting all the Alcremie forms so I'm onto gender variants next, not sure I actively go for a shiny Dex... Although it's getting more tempting 😅
General people making general Living dex, but i make living dex for each game on switch. I have for let go(all with Let's Go mark) Ss(with all galar symbol) One for Arceus(all pokemons with Arceus mark)... Is hard when you only have one version. I dont have sword, so i miss Kanto Farfetch'd and darumaka unova for totaly completion, i already tried home transfer but only find with Pokémon GO mark.
You know if there is a discord or something similar when people help each other completing living dex? i can get Kanto Ponyta and Johto Corsola for anyone who need.
All respect to you, my brain couldn't handle organising that many versions so I prefer just updating the one Dex in home 😅 I don't know any specifically but Subreddits can be useful if you catch them at the right time and keep an eye on it
