- In my "Top Favorite Male JoJo Outfits" video, many people called out how Jotaro wasn't included.
Well - here ya go. Here I discuss Jotaro's personal style, and how to derive some real life style tips from his fashion evolution.
After this - still have at least a couple more JoJo's Bizarre Adventure content ideas.

I love the observation of Jotaro's outfit being really good for essentially 'men who aren't great at fashion'. Not only does that actually suit his part 3 persona pretty well (he definitely seems like he doesn't want to look like he's trying), I feel like it's really important to have those sorts of figures that show that looking good in what you wear doesn't have to be too hard or too loud.
I'm glad you kinda get what I was getting at. You definitely don't need to know a lot about fashion, or dress uncomfortably, to dress nicely.
i thought it was just Araki's artstyle that makes Jotaro looks younger in part 6, never realized his outfit also played a big role there.
The clothes, even if fictional, def make a difference :D
I'm a bit surprised you didn't bring up the ripped-open hat, which is definitely Jotaro's most iconic, and most intentional, fashion statement.
When he was a teenager in part 3, he deliberately ripped out the back of his hat in order to further the 'delinquent' look he was going for; he *really* wanted people to think he was a bad dude and ripping out the back of his hat was possibly the most direct statement of this. It's interesting to see how even as he matures into a more self-confident person, this aspect of his fashion sticks around and evolves.
In later parts, his hats are more like specially-made half-hats instead of a normal hat that he tore the back out of; it rarely looks ragged like it often does in Stardust Crusaders. It reads to me more like he's grown out of that counterculture phase, but he's maintained the ripped-open hat as part of his personal fashion because the look speaks to him and he identifies with it.
I definitely agree with your points on how he develops over time, both as a person and in his fashion; as a side note, I think his part 6 outfit is so incredibly loud not because he identifies with it, but moreso because he wore that outfit to go see his adult daughter. He feels estranged from her but desperately wants to be a part of her life; so, he wears something loud and jazzy that's probably a fair bit out of his comfort zone because he's trying to put her more at ease. That might just be me reading into context that isn't there, though!
Interesting context on the hat - wasnt aware, but helps contextualize that styling a bit more
It's interesting that you mentioned that Jo2uke's (Jojolion's Josuke) outfit came off as youthful and playful because that is perfect for Jo2uke's character. He's basically a newborn within the context of the story
Awesome - then glad my interpretation makes sense 😀
One thing to note about the color of his outfits or of any outfits in the series is that JoJos has no canonical color scheme. The anime chose to adapt it a certain way, but Araki uses different colors every time he draws them in color.
For sure - many people pointed that out in my other videos. I tend to focus on the anime versions for awareness and concision.
I love how your outfit during the video is like a personal take on part 3 jotaro. Really clever!
You're the first one to notice - thank you! 🙏🏽
I think the reason for Jotaro going from black to white to purple is the fact that in part 3 he was a delinquent and his outfit was a customized school uniform but then 3 of his friends died so he wore white to reflect the fact that he was in mourning (white is the colour of mourning in Japan) but then since part 6 is quite far ahead he somewhat came out of mourning hence the purple jacket instead of white.(this is gonna be highly speculative now) The shirt he’s wearing in part 6 is white though so it may reflect that he hasn’t fully gotten over the guilt of the deaths since his actions near the end of the part shows his need to save everyone.
Oooo - that thinking definitely makes sense. I can get behind that
That is fascinating, thank you.
Part 5 Jotaro was definitely his best look!
Most definitely
this is such a cool analysis of jotaro! as much as jojo is filled with fashion, you rarely see people use it as a lens of analysis!
i’m so glad i found your account! where else am i gonna find a cross section of jojo and FFX-2? you have absolutely amazing taste!!!
I'm just glad to find other folks who enjoy these things like i do - thanks so much for continuing to watch :D
At 4:28, I realised that your outfit is inspired from Jotaro's outfit (Stardust Crusaders) and I really like it! It's suits you really well!
Thank you very much for noticing 😎🙌🏽
i always saw his stone ocean outfit as a middle age crisis "oh my god am i Old now?" panic fit which i think would be very funny. Great video as usual :-)
Lol - i like that interpretation
Another entertaining look into character Fashion. I must confess, I started out hating JoJos fashion style years ago, when I was younger and more ignorant, but we all grow and change and our tastes change as well. Stuff I hated I now find cool and interesting.
To get more in depth about my foolishness, I dont know why, societal norms played a part im sure, but I always felt like it was too effeminate, that it diverged too much from my sensibilities on how a "manly" man should look like. At the same time, I was a huuuuuuge vis-kei fan and loved the bands with crazy style and femenine clothes because they didint give a fuck, they wore what looked good or shocking to them. Nowadays im close to 40, Ive seen and experienced a lot more out of life, met all kinds of people, seen all sorts of styles and expressions and I love originality. Someday Ill start to show that in my clothing but I haven't been shopping for clothes in years, unless i had to for work. Sorry for using the comments to ramble about this, maybe theres others who were/are like me.
Really really appreciate you sharing! Social norms were really pressed upon me as a kid - but once I entered adulthood and discovered myself, I absolutely couldn't resist trying news to express myself through fashion.
Sometimes it takes some maturity and experience to truly discover your personal style ✨️
It's almost scary how the algorithm has suggested a video about Jojo styling to me- someone who thinks in his head I want to dress that way but not verbally said it or typed it in hahaha
The algorithm knows! lol
Great video! I'm a sucker for JoJo and I watch a lot of content based on the series, and yet I find every one of your videos on it really refreshing! You raised an interesting point with Jotaro's Stone Ocean outfit. I feel like the style still fits where he is in life, a dad who's past the point of caring too much about what other people think, so he goes all out with an extremely bold take on his own brand. All that said, white fit Jotaro is PEAK Jotaro.
Thanks a lot. A I can definitely agree with your points
I’m watching jojo now (just started part 6) and I’m so obsessed w jotaro’s evolution tysm for this !! his part 4 look w the purplesweater is my favorite
Yeeess - thanks for sharing
I'm glad you gush over Telence's outfit. To me he was one of the best-dressed antagonists in part 3 and I enjoyed his fight more than his brothers.
Yesss , I completely agree 👍🏽
What a great little adventure we got to go on with this one! Always a blast to see your angle on fictional fashion!
Thanks for enjoying the trip :D
Don't know if it was done on purpose, but the colour scheme and type of fit you were wearing here is similar to our JoJo boy here! If so, love how you made a wearable take haha.
The points your made brought a lot of insight to this! Starting from Part 3, somehow the Author is really good in keeping things 'timeless' when it comes to the fashion of some characters. While it's a bit more obvious in Jotaro's fashion is the '80s Delinquent' type, the other characters don't seem to have the same effect. In a good way! Like, some of the outfits being worn can definitely be seen on a runway!
You bringing up about how he is at his 'Softest' in Stone Ocean is so good! Makes me wished that the Anime wen by with your symbolism!
Thanks for noticing the outfit! 😊 And glad you see where I'm coming from with my points
I love this series so much! so glad you're continuing these
More to come!
God damnit felt the need to comment how hype your content gets me, and it's the last thing I'd be excited about which is fashion, so I praise your videos highly 🙏
Such awesome feedback - i appreciate you sharing your thoughts and watching the content
on the topic of jotaro's outfit, a strange element to his design is the fact that his hat blends with his hair, and as you mentioned josuke's outfit looks custom made, even though in the jojo world, that's just josuke's school uniform that he stylized a bit (same with jotaro in part 3) but ignoring anime logic and treating it like the real world for a second: i find the idea that jotaro commissioned a hat that fades into an exact replica of his hair at the back fucking hilarious
Damn... There's channels about non-contemporary fashion in anime, and I didn't know this until my shitty internet roomates IP sent me here.
What have I been doing with my life....
Great vid, love the critique and expertise on display aswell as your personal fit.
Thanks for all of the great feedback
Yay! So glad you're making these videos :)
Glad you like them!
Great video and wonderful analysis in the beginning!
Thank you kindly!
I appreciate these kind of content so much! Keep on making more JoJo videos! 😄
Thanks for watching
The most entertaining JoJo analyses on CZcams!
Wow - too kind. Much appreciated dude
I love these videos! I would definitely love to see more
Plenty more to come for sure 🙌🏽
Loved the mention and respect you showed for the other analyses. Will check them out. Also I never get tired of your in depth analyses of character fashion. It really gives already existing characters even more character and background. Like being reintroduced to them.
Really encouraging getting feedback like this. Always appreciated. I'm running a bit behind on content - bit definitely more to come
Have you seen Jodio's design from part 9? He has some great layering going on. The first chapter released this month, and already has some great designs.
Thanks again for suggesting
@@XDF Thanks for listening! I'm glad you liked his design enough to make an inspired outfit.
I love your videos!! I'm interested in your analyses of fashion from other games/anime, or even real life honestly hahaha
Yeesss - plenty more to come! 🕺🏽
The thing about his hat in part 3 is quite interesting. That's actually the school caps worn in Japanese high schools for male students up tot he late 80s. We even have photos and a flashback from Holly Kujo, his mother, of 13 year old Jotaro wearing his uniform normally before the 17 year old reveal in episode 1.
Ooohh - that's interesting. Thanks for letting me know. It looks so similar to a cadet style cap
Another banger video!! Do you see yourself reacting / discussing the new part 9 characters' outfits?
Thanks so much! And yeah, totally. Waiting to see what full collection of images is released
Nice. Live this!!!
Omg that descption of the p3 outfit being for people who are inexperienced with fashion and the screengrab of it being doable on amazon is making me feel called out..
Cuz I've never really been good at like.. being performativly queer. And being colorblind also makes me nervous about mixing pieces soo like i can just follow the thought process that goes into crafting a simple black in black outfit like jotaros.
Thanks for sharing your experience - a humbling reminder that some people dress the way they do for various specific/personal reasons. That's valid.
But never hurts to shake things up when you're ready 👍🏽
Love it!!!
Great!
i like how jotaro in stardust crusaders just went globe trotting in his customized school uniform and as he grew he adapted that style for himself and experimented with colors, patterns, accessories, etc. the fits are def fitting for his character arc overall, loved the video and analyses
Much agreed - thanks for being a thoughtful viewer
ooh this is a fun topic and a great look at the style. Looking at the style re organized does give it a new feel and its always interesting to look back at what couldve been. the part 5 outfit in 6 would be an interesting idea too given the story. I'd love for you to cover yu yu hakusho fashion one day.
Thanks for the suggestion
I think putting Jotaro in grey as opposed to pure bright white is just genius, and exactly what Araki/David P should have done.
However, like many mangaka, color isn't important to him (it's bonkers...the mangaka of Sailor Moon, Attack on Titan and Jojo all put almost zero priority on color and that's...sorta sad. But it works for what they pretty much live in, black and white and pure form.)
I agree there was something...unsettling...about the Stone Ocean outfit even though it's very cool, and you nailed it!! The personal progression you proposed through the outfits flows much more naturally and I love your ideas.
It's kind of unfortunate that Araki sort of hammered his characters into a certain look that coordinates with the vibe of the current part rather than ketting them be independent entities, but I think he's solved this in later parts somewhat by not going back to (some of) the same characters again. Jodio's look in Part 9 so far is a *perfected* Johnny-style outfit and it's one of my favorites now!
The python print pants and the belt tho🥵 but yeah lol I feel you on the rest of his part 6 outfit
I think it's super stylish - but the pattern/color combo is too much for me 😅
I LOVE your JoJo videos SO MUCH.
I never thought about how "normal" or "flat" Jotaro's first outfit looks.
My favorite Jotaro outfit is the second one from part 4, the one with the vest underneath (tho I thought there was another one). But I can agree that the part 5 one is PEAK Jotaro style.
I can't wait for you to make a Jojolands video. And maybe a bit more attention to Jojolion? I think Jojolion deserves it.
Thanks for the feedback 🕺🏽🙌🏽
4:34 "I'm not one for olive" is wearing olive
Fantastic video as always.
Also, I'm here once again to ask you for a video about the outfits in One Piece Film Red. I think you'd have a blast.
One Piece is def on the list 👌🏽
I really wonder what your opinion will be for Jodio's outfit and overall style
All I have to say is that it's a hot mess.
I discussed it in a Short in case you missed it. I think it's pretty cool
@@XDF Yeah I saw it a while ago, thanks for the reminder, love your content.
You should check out the two new JoJos. Jodio and Dragona.
Actually, you could probably make a whole vid on the outfits in the first chapter
I made a Short on Jodio's outfit last week 👍🏽
These series of videos in general just help me to dress in a way that I feel more confortable with my image, Can you do a video on the outfits that seth rollins use in the wwe?
I think the way that Araki makes these outfits seem native to a character, or at least in many cases that wearing those outfits are rarely special statements but rather organic expressions of their character.
For example, I once saw a chubby, bearded, nerdy archetype-al guy wear Jotaros ornaments on a fedora and immediately thought it odd in the context of knowing JoJo and wearing a Josuke-themed jacket I slightly modified myself. However appropriating the symbolism while not giving any other resemblance of the character made it ill-fitting.
Not wanting to gatekeep it though. Hope that guy finds something more fitting for him.
I agree - while I think people can ultimately wear what they want - but there are some choices that can be a bit more suitable for certain folks.
I don't even remember Jotaro being in Golden Wind.
It felt like a glorified cameo
This is really good. I don't really have an eye for fashion, and I think this channel is a really good way to train my eye and style, especially with a series I really like, and while I know JoJo is famous for the drip the characters wear, I didn't really understand why the fashion was so good
Glad it was insightful
Please please please make a short about your thoughts about the outfits in jojolands. Your first impressions about the protagonist
Glad I did jodio for now - perhaps more to come
Hey, X, have you considered doing an analysis of the outfits in Hellsing Ultimate?
There's some really good capes and uniforms there xD
Hmm, I'll keep that in mind
Jotaro is my favorite Jojo and this analysis is very cool. I agree with you, I really like the part 6 outfit, but is totally different from the previous ones. Even he looks younger than in the previous part. For me, the worst outfit is the initial part 4. Sadly we don't have a female character in other parts like Jotaro, that would be another great analysis.
PD.: your outfit for this video is really cool. Great combination
Thanks for the great feedback; I agree, I wish there was a more recurring female to analyze fashion/character dev around.
Totally different show but I was rewatching Adventure Time the other day and I was wondering if you'd consider reviewing Princess Bubblegum's looks?
That could be interesting - ill see if a story forms in my head after i take a look
it would be so cool if you ranked the looks from soul eater!! it’s more casual than high fashion but there’s some really simple looks that some characters manage to pop off with.
I'll try to take a look - see if anything pops out to me
I generally feel his Part 6 outfit is better than his 4 n 5 outfits, white just doesn't really fit Jotaro's character, it also ruins the effect of his hat blending with his hair, white does not blend into black well, the purple of his Part 6 outfit however makes it work, it's still brighter than his first outfit to indicate some character growth, but still dark enough to allow that fun little blending to work seamlessly.
I can see that perspective - his hat hair is a key signature element
6:05 bro u forgot Kakyoin
Omg - I didn't even realize 😅
@@XDF it's okay. It's funny that your outfit today had olive and is clearly Jotaro inspired
Internet Pitstop sent me here.
Great dude 👌🏽
Please cosplay Jotaro...
I will say that part 6 Jojo is exactly what I'd expect an absent father in his 40s to dress like when he's visiting his daughter in a Florida prison
Review jodio’s outfit 😩
I did in case you missed it
What do you think of part 6 Jotaro's snake pattern pant+shoe?
Like I was mentioning - too loud. I might like it as part of a different outfit
Jojo x gucci next the collection's really good there's a jolyne one and a rohan one
I personally hate his pants in part 6. I don’t think they match or contrast the rest of the outfit. It just clashes and has no cohesion for me. But with different pants I think part 6 would be my favorite (I’m a sucker for purple and green)
I really do agree. The pants are toooo much. But I LOVE the jacket 💜
I’m not sure how I feel about Jotaro’s style being best suited for a certain sexuality or gender.
In my opinion, I think if someone can pull it off, they pull it off.
Regardless, I’ll always respect your opinion as a fellow Part 5 Jotaro style lover (that’s his least popular style). Still great video, as always.
That's why I also provided "generally suited" ;)
Tysm
Oh no you erroneously spoke of his part 5 outfit when mentioning part 6 plot elements with Jolyne 😭
Watch it till the end. He said several times that Jotaro's part 5 outfit would work for part 6 better than the part 6 outfit that we got.
More Bleach outfits 🙏
If I do - likely not for a while 😌
