Ricky Skaggs Country Boy Lyrics
I may look like a city slicker
Shinin’ up through his shoes
Underneath I’m just a cotton picker
Pickin’ out a mess of blues
Show me where I start
Find a horse and cart
I’m just a country boy
Country boy at heart
I may look like a bank teller
Pushing facts in a file
But I’d rather be a hog caller
Chewing cud on the sty
Show me where I start
Find a horse and cart
I’m just a country boy
Country boy at heart
I may look like a city slicker
Shinin’ up through his shoes
Underneath I’m just a cotton picker
Pickin’ out a mess of blues
Show me where I start
Find a horse and cart
I’m just a country boy
Country boy at heart
That is a talented gentleman. A hidden gem of country music.
He deserves wayyy more credit than George strait. I like George, but Ricky’s musical talent is unmatched.
Great country classic, written by some 'good ol Country-Boys' from the UK!! 🤣
Awesome performance 👏 👌 🙌
Goodness grief how do you better this lot. Outstanding guys.
Love Ricky 🎵❤️🎶
great show and very good skills with passion!
Gee whiz!!!
What's the name of the guy in the electric guitar beautiful telecaster
That’s Keith Sewell, and he’s playing an original 52 Fender Telecaster. I played steel guitar for Ricky at that time. I’m thinking that this might have been my first time playing the Opry with Ricky. I was sure nervous, and Country Boy was a wee bit faster than I would’ve like it to have been. I got through it. Keith is an awesome player, and I’ve always thought he has one of the best guitar tones’. As far as I know, I think he’s still playing for Lyle Lovett and has been for quite a few years now.
@@steelarama awesome story, my mother knows that I'm interested in guitars and guitar players. She showed me a video on CZcams of Ricky Skaggs, and he was the first player to ever blow my mind. When ever the conversation comes up who is the greatest guitar player I always say Ricky Skaggs now. Most of my buddies will bring up the usual suspects, Clapton, Hendrix, Duane Allman, Stevie Ray Vaughan, who are all amazing players, but once I show them videos of Ricky playing the debate gets settled pretty quick. Is he really this good in person? Also since you're a professional musician have you seen guitar players more skilled then Mr.Skaggs? Or is this just the industry standard and all professional players play this good?
To be honest with you, Skaggs is great, but there are some players that I feel like can out perform Skaggs on the guitar. But, it all depends on the musicianship, and sometimes the playing alone, can’t replace the mind and soul of one’s musicianship. If you want to hear more great acoustic playing, look up Tony Rice, Bryan Sutton, Troy Hess, and Billy Strings, those are just a few. Keith Sewell, whose playing in this video, ranks right up there with Brent Mason, Albert Lee, and another fairly new great player named Johnny Hiland. Check those guys out.
I want to back track a little and say that I don’t think other guitar players can necessarily out perform Skaggs, but to say that different styles can depend on different skill levels. I think everything that Skaggs does is great, but, it might not be as easy for other musicians to do what Skaggs does, and vice versa. So, I wouldn’t necessarily say out perform, but to say different ways and styles of playing, can be construed as better than the other, based on what an individual likes to hear the best. But, Skaggs ranks right up there with the very best, in his own way.
@steelarama Fair statement but very few can outperform Ricky on a mandolin. That's cool you played with him. You followed some great steel players like Bouton and Crisp.
Country music on nitro meth fuel!!! Holy smokes!!!!
Ol' boy Ricky Skaggs is one of the real ones!
