Is Maruti Suzuki’s Ignis just another hatchback? The design promises more, but what will help it stand out from the crowd, and how well does it drive? We look for answers on our first drive of the Ignis.
Looked at it in parts, Maruti Suzuki’s Ignis is very interesting. As a compact hatch with a tough and cheerful feel, the Ignis has found huge appeal in India. Class-leading features add to the wow factor, and the interiors promise a youthful feel too. While the engines are the tried and tested 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines, the inclusion of automatic transmission options for both engines, courtesy of the simple and cost efficient AMT, add another element of specialness to the Ignis. And all this has been built around Maruti’s new fifth-generation platform. But is the Ignis greater than the sum of its parts? We take a first drive to know exactly that.

Good to see you here Kartikeya!
As always, a nice review, and the fact that you managed to review both the engines in their various gearbox options is an icing on the cake.
But, why does it happen that Zigwheels has to deteriorate the quality of video by bringing in some or the other crazy stuff. Like this time, you were reviewing in English and there is an English sub-script on the screen that does not match what you say.
It is like Siri one wrong and was a spoiler for an otherwise well done video.
By the way, your new glass make you look more mature. A two wheeler rider graduate to four wheeler.
    Cheers

Amazing unbiased review as usual. Keep up the great work.
Some feedbacks from my side post my visit to the nearby Nexa showroom to see the Ignis:
    1) Quality isn't impressive.
    2) I did sit in the Zeta variant and had my leg touching the steering wheels with the steering at its highest position. The Zeta variant doesnt have seat adjustments.
    3) I am 6ft tall and my head was hitting the roof while getting into the rear seat.
    4) Another shocking thing was the lever used to open the hood of the car which reminded me of the lever used in old Ambassador.
    5) Costing cutting has been done on the seat cushioning too with the rear passenger knees hitting my back while being seated.

good honest review first time someone actually talks abt the faults of this car n hasn't been blinded by the marketing gimicks personally I felt maruti has messed up what could have been a great car interiors are bad and tacky yes the alpha variant looks awesome but then it's priced at 9 lakhs on road in Delhi for that much I can get a much bigger n equally equipped baleno spend a lil more n I get a much bigger vitara breeza so I don't know what maruti was thinking while pricing this car no way this car is worth more than a fully loaded swift or i20

I drove IGNIS today.... It could not fulfill my expectation. I personally don't like the car as the steering of the car not so good max steering rotation is required to change the lane either left or right.... driver seat and rear seat is not very much comfortable.... Average full indication shows me mileage of petrol car is 11.6kmpl where I drove the car around 35-40 km...... So many jerks are feel their while driving a car..... Steering wheel size is big and having shoulder pain
Currently I'm using Volkswagen Polo 1.2 High Line top model, it has superb driving quality and superb comfort quality. Whenever I drive the car I never get exhaust and plan for next destination before ending my first destiny.
