'Who's in charge of bugging politicians?"
Jim: "well, come to think of it, I am."
...
so Humfrey is in charge of bugging politicians, I would turn the radio on
Who bugs the buggers?
@@Hazzar595 The Kremlin of course, after all Sir John Houston is one of them.
@@sevenpolar3483and move to the bathroom.
I think some appreciation is needed for the marvellous Diana Hoddinott as Annie Hacker. She played the role so well, with wonderful timing and delivery especially when Annie, while supporting her husband, decided (thanks to the writers) to introduce a bit of levity or to prick Jim's bubble when his ego got a bit too inflated. There are numerous examples across the 5 series of YM/YPM.
Totally agree...
“Oh, humble one.”
One of the finest one-liners from her.
Keep myself fully informed!
Genius.
You are fine Editor of reform
I've never said that
You have ALWAYS said that
Mrs hacker is lovely and charismatic
I've seen this epsiode - as usual, incredibly biting and funny. Satire is one of the finest genres, and the British have it down pat; the US needs political satire this brainy, brawny, and piercing.
The USA need to be dissolved or restructured in to something that isn’t a republic.
just downloaded ALL blackadder episodes and am working on yes minister now ;D can barely wait.. british humour..
It’s the same answer to every question in this show:
“Weeeeeeeeell...”
Is that a young John Fortune from off of The Rory Bremner show with the guy from El Sid?
It is, I checked.
John Fortune looks so young here! I'm use to seeing him 30 years on Bremner, Bird and Fortune.
RIP John Fortune
0:54 'Your starter for ten. No conferring.' Hilarious. University challenge, in those days already. England: the land of certainties.
I didn't understand that. What's University challenge?
@@reubenpapang5803 A more than half a century old (since 1962) successful and excruciatingly difficult quiz programme between two teams of university students, on the BBC. Every set of questions starts with a ‘starter’ question for '10' points, and the members of the team may not deliberate ('confer') before answering. Many episodes to be seen here on YT.
@@hdholl9696 thank you!
I auditioned for it here in Australia
@@hdholl9696 I do like the Young Ones version of it
An army officer? Wouldn't be General Sir George Parr, would it?
At that point in his life, John Fortune looked rather strikingly like Tony Benn...
Really? I don't see a pipe.
@louisdm123 Haha I feel your pain man. There's no greater TV viewing pleasure than the advert-less Beeb. There used to be a time when we could get through this playlist without any ads at all, but such is the way of the Internets. This show was just so good I'm willing to be put through all of them just to enjoy those classic moments!
I love those two shows to pieces, and think they're invaluable; that said, I think a biting political satire freed from the news show format would find its place and be every bit as critical and refreshing.
@washcloud
I want to write and I love Black Adder like everyone else does. But if I envy anything in this world it's the writing style in Yes (Prime) Minister. I want THAT ONE!
If Black Adder was the product of vocal, know-it-all Oxbridge drama geeks with a fetish for Python then Yes Minister was the opus of the snidest, spectacle-lowering dining-room-discussion gymnast the world's ears have ever been leant forward and pleasured by. No homo.
I always had a thing for mrs. Hacker, such a charming lady. I am speaking about the character,i am sure the actress who portrays her is a remarkable person, but alas i do not know her
Real wonderful politicians!
Omg is that the late GREAT John Fortune?
@louisdm123 Because it's been uploaded onto CZcams by BBC Worldwide which is the commercial arm of the Beeb.
@notrwhitecrow The thick of it and In the Loop are pretty good aswell, intelligent political comedys from the 2000's
love this show, man! a PITY it only lasted 2 seasons. i need to watch more shows like this
I mean, bit late on my part, but there's three series from Yes Minister, the Christmas special, then Yes Prime Minister for two series (although with 8 episodes rather than 7 in Yes Minister). There was also the 2013 revival, but that had an entirely different cast and wasn't well liked.
This is almost Gilbert and Sullivan-esque. Lord High Everything-else indeed.
@mcgillianaire yeah i know. just really HATE adverts lol
But who’s in charge of KGB bugging?
What did he tell him?????
@Maino88 You'd get the same shit, and you'd have to sit through adverts too. If you don't believe me, check the quality of Sky television channels.
👼🙂
That would be delightful... perhaps a kind of non-drama West Wing? I'd watch.
These deserve a re-up, such poor quality in 2007
John Fortune never did have any lips.
how can there be adverts when its on the BBC... fucking youtube
John Fortune looks rather like Tony Benn in this one....
ABSOLUTELY no match.
Black Adder was based on silly farce and crude jokes.
Yes Minister was as witty as hell on the other hand.
Welp, I am the 666th like...
very pale imitations i'm afraid
"How can there be adverts on the BBC"
There should be more adverts on the BBC. Maybe then we wouldn't have to pay 150 odd quid for re-runs of My Family, and all other manor of shit that's on the BBC. BBC 3, for example.
