For those who are going to come back, this wasn’t a mistake or an aborted start, this was to catch which teams were cheating by figuring out when the lights were suppose to go out and playing audio in the drivers ears in order to perfectly time the start of the race.
@@thomasconway95 they cheated. They had reverse engineered the radio signal that was sent to the lights to get a beep 100ms before the lights were supposed to turn off, that way they would always have a very good reaction time The FIA tricked them by modifying the light sequence, which means everybody that started too soon didn't start by mistake, but because they got the audio signal
Here after reading comments from a Doughnut video on Ferrari cheating, heard it’s called “sniffing” by picking up the signals sent to the lights. Either way looks like cheating, like four start at exactly the same time.
@@woofplays That was Gene in the Minardi. What I still don't get is he was at the back row and wasn't blocking anybody why didn't he let the race start and get pushed off back to the pits.
I came here after watching the Driver61 video. What i dont understand is that if it was cheating. 3 teams moved ( 1full team and 2 seperate drivers.) If u are gonna cheat why not let the second car benefit too? As u see the second yellow car didnt move. Same for the other seconds.
Because he probably still actually looked to see if the lights went out. There's blatant map hacks, then there's just using the minimap dots. Its up to the operator at the end of the day. Not all so unlikely anymore is it? Scott Mansell is not to be dismissed like an average youtube theorist. I suggest you look specifically into his real life pedigree when forming your view of him, rather than seeing him as a youtuber.
I think only 2 teams were using it .McLaren and another team at 5th one at back which also jumped start.the white car in 4th and yellow in 1st was focused at McLaren at 2nd and 3rd instead of lights because I think they knew McLaren was using it because of there perfect start so instead using technology themself(because production took alot of time) they must of tried to focus to launch at same time as others. So the other white car team and yellow car team driver didn't launch away because they really behind in the grid and McLaren were really far away.So I only McLaren and black car 5th team were the technology. But that was not cheating at all because it was not in the rulebook.and the technology was really smart tbh.but fia pulled even smarter move. Something like that happening in this era of F1 would be so much fun. it's like getting caught cheating in exam red hand when whole is looking at you
@@Miniz I have researched a bit it was wrong grid position but it was only couple of cars at back of the grid.still it doesn't changes the fact that those teams were using that technology (or cheating however u wanna call it) . now we just don't if it was fia's plan to position those car at that position as fia has worked with team to uncover other team's cheating secret's as fia worked with red bull for Ferrari. @@Miniz Watching this video frame by frame, 4 of the 5 cars that skipped the time started moving at the EXACT same frame. Only one of them hesitated. That's simply not a coincidence. On a 30 FPS video like this, the chance of 4 cars starting to move at the exact same frame without having some sort of start signal is 1:810.000 (or 1:331.000 if you assume the original video is 24 FPS). That it also happened to be 4 of the 5 front cars, while everyone else stayed still simply just confirms the theory.
Reminds me of cops in places where radar detectors are illegal, blipping on their radar to watch for brake lights. Also lol at the FIA of the past. Could easily have caused a huge pile-up
Cheating barstewards. Well done to the FIA to come down on this. I think the Jordan may have been from pressure as the other Jordan remains stationary but the Mclaren's were clearly anticipating more than is reasonable.
That is not cheating. The FIA (as usual) made an awful job managing the lights via radiofrequencies (which cannot be encrypted) and some teams discovered this loophole and took advantage of it within the rules. This kind of things happen in F1 every season.
Lins Lins a driver signaled an issue, causing the race to be aborted, which caused the drivers to react. Nobody was penalized as there was not going to be a start anyways.
they were cheating and where listen to a beep in a head set and they sent out a fake beep so they could find out who was cheating. So many great cheating storys from racing.
No, that's not what happened. The crews sent the drivers the signal based on timing uncovered by decoding the race start transmission to the lighting system. What they didn't know was that the race officials changed that timing without telling anyone. This is how they found out which teams were intercepting the race start transmission.
@@wazthatme "They were cheating..." correct. "listen to a beep in a headset..." correct. "and they sent out a fake beep..." WRONG. The race starts VISUALLY, no beeps. The teams which were cheating sent the tone to their drivers. No fake beeps. You need to study this again to understand what actually happened because a knob head like you just doesn't get it.
actually, the teams were intercepting the radio signals and sent the drivers an audible beep 0.1 seconds before the lights went out (since human reaction time is 0.1 seconds). the stewards for this race changed the amount of time the lights would be on in order to catch the cheating teams
For anyone watching this video who thinks the FIA tried to trick the teams and drivers - it's a myth. It's not true. The start was aborted because of a problem at the back of the grid. The reason why several cars all moved at exactly the same time is because they reacted to the flashing orange "aborted start" lights appearing directly above the red lights.
And just to add, those lights are hard to see in this video because of the way the lights are cropped but you can see a bit of them, the cars that are not moving would be more suspicious than the ones moving if it was a case of cheating with sound
Who else came here after watching the Driver61 video ??? 🙋♂️
