  • WAG! dog walking app vs ROVER dog walking app. In today's video I compare the dog walking apps Wag! and Rover and which dog walking app you should choose. I give an in depth view on the hiring process for each dog walking app. I also give advice for dog walkers thinking about working with the apps and clients looking to use one of the apps for their pups.
If you have any questions regarding Rover, Wag! or my personal experience working with the companies, please comment below!

Wait what? They take 40%? That is insane. So if the job pays $15 for a 30 min walk, you're only going to barely get half that? On top of all the gas and wear and tear on your car as well? That does not sound good to me at all. Seems like it might be better to just work for yourself and get your own clients. Yeah it would prob be a bit more work possibly or a bit more stress maybe, but you make money that is worthwhile. Because at the end of the day $14 an hour and you're not even getting that because you're not getting paid for the time it takes to drive to that home and back. Maybe I'm missing something or misunderstood?

Working on wag currently and I really dislike the app. I’ve gained regular clients through just building personal relationships outside the app. Wag has horrible communication and even when you start the wall the “access” info is gone. Tips well they vary and sometimes it doesn’t seem worth it for putting miles on my vehicle for 9.90$+3-4 dollar tip.

Hi Cathy! Sure, I can try and help as best I can through here on the comments.
For the request part, once you click on request and have selected your ETA you then wait for Wag to let you know if you have been accepted or not. They will let you know through the app if you have been accepted or declined. If you have been accepted you will receive a text message confirming the time you have been booked to walk the dog.
“Available for requests” indicates to Pet Parents you’re available for service requests. Service requests is when the Pet Parent requests you directly.
“Looking for walks” indicates to Wag! & Pet Parents you’re actively walking today and looking for more walks (increases pings).
I hope this Helps and if you have anymore questions don’t hesitate to ask and I will do my best to answer them!😄

      Rover is better
And you meet the client before you do the sitting or the boarding
Some clients will like and will offer to deal directly with you
      Cash $$$$
Rover is safe for sitters to start
Trust me some clients are impossible
So you need to have your back covered and Rover team does
You can call them anytime and they usually take your side because they make money from you 20%. They don't charge the client a lot for the booking
      Wag 40%??? That's crazy
In rover you charge whatever you want
I changed my prices in 3 weeks
I started at 50 $ for sitting to 65 per night and nobody seems to complain about it
I used to do boarding and same thing
Changed the price from 60$ a night to 75 and it was fine
And walking for 30 min nobody charges less than 25 dollars
And of course depending on what state you re in
      But big cities
Boarding you can charge up to 100 per night
People pay when it comes to their pets

Hi! You’d be surprise how many dog owners are in your area! Start off with putting up posters in your area and have your business cards ready for anyone that finds out you do dog walking. I personally walk to all my clients for the most part. You do want to stay local as pet owners rather have someone that lives nearby since many last minute changes can arise. It won’t be inconvenient for both you or the client if the walk gets cancel etc. Aside from clients wanting nearby dog walkers take into account that driving, finding parking and getting stuck in traffic takes time. So you want to instead use that time for more clients. I would suggest having 10 minutes in between each walk. Driving would definitely make that difficult. As a starter though place 30 minutes in between to first get the hang of it and see what to except. Hope this was helpful!

I'm pretty sure you have to be 18. I tried signing up but it said I can't start yet because I'm 17. Kinda sucks seeing as it's super simple to just take a dog on a walk, but then again the liabilities the company risks if you get abducted or if something else happens to you on a walk, is kinda understandable why you have to be 18.

This is to show that you are reliable, trustworthy and have experience with pups that aren’t your own. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions😄

    • @Blessed_11.11
      @Blessed_11.11 Před 3 lety +7

Hi Jeanette! Testimonials as Maia mentioned is to get to know how you are with dogs, however it does not have to be a dog owner or a previous client. They know you are just getting started so anyone can write about you. A close friend or even a family member. The idea is for people that know you well described your love for pets pretty much. So don’t believe that you have to have previous experience that is not the case. Hope that helps anyone else ready too!

Rover is dead in 2024 - Rover was bought by Blacksyone and they raised rates for pet owners so it just sucks now. That said, there’s a tipping point on Rover - if you join and only get a few jobs you need to ask for reviews and then after you get a few reviews going you’re more likely to get jobs. I got nothing until I had 5 reviews. They take dogs or cats on both apps now.
Wag absolutely blows - they charge a membership fee and they limit how much you can charge and they take more money out - I don’t know why you don’t mention that, I guess it changed since this was recorded 3 years ago.
