  • I made this mistake when I lowered my G80 but hopefully this helps someone avoid it when doing theirs! Would you swap the bolts or just leave them considering the low mile use?

    I have a black ez pass holder that covers the ugly yellowish white color. I need to find out about the turnersville events. I’ll be at Thompson BMW cars and coffee this sat though.
    Regarding the pricing of the parts, I encountered that too. I needed a new plate holder. One place said 90 and the other said 40. Glad I checked!

      Pricing is so odd! But yeah the turnersville one was by bimmersunited. I heard about Thompson but unfortunately will be away. We’ll run into eachother soon!

    Whats the part number? My G82 xDrive has a clicking sound when I turn the steering wheel now after installing AST springs, By any chance this is due to not replacing the bolts? Thanks in advance

    Great info and awesome car bro! Question I have with the h&r springs.. how much clearance do you have from the front lip to the ground? Just so I can gauge how low the front is. Thanks brother!

    • @myounz
      @myounz  Před rokem +1

      Thank you! I just measured it and it’s about 4.5inches or so from the bottom of the lip.

    Fords awd cards like the rs is like this...the bolts cant reach the same torque spec/play size anymore according to the manufacturer which is why they recommend changjng the bolts. The rwd f30s arent like this

    I’m curious to know your thoughts between the G80 and F90. I can’t debate which one I want to buy. What would you say are the primarily differences why you’d pick one over the other, from personal experience?

    • @myounz
      @myounz  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I’d say the biggest thing is if you will daily it or weekend car. I daily’d my F90 and it’s perfect for that all around. Super comfortable ride with comfortable massaging seats and you still have the screaming 8 cylinder which was fast. The G80 to me is a weekend car, you feel a lot more in the road and it’s a much smaller interior but it handles great especially mountain roads.

    Wait so if I install lowering springs I need to replace these bolts? Did you find the part number? Thanks

    • @myounz
      @myounz  Před 8 měsíci

      You only should if you drop the axle. If you do it without then you’re fine but otherwise it’s recommended when taking off the axle bolts. I believe it was 31-20-6-866-022 but your local dealer can confirm.

    The reason the bolts need to be replaced isn't because they wear or get old. Its because they are stretched to toque. Something like 90 Ft Lbs then 60% more to stretched them. You can only do this once, so reusing the old bolts means they wont be torqued to spec. Definitely use new bolts on important components!

    • @myounz
      @myounz  Před rokem

      Couldn’t have said it any better! Yup I’ve spoken to a few people and apparently many other companies do this as well. Great summary on why it’s needed!

  • @eiros59
    @eiros59 Před rokem +2

    Honestly i think it looks perfecto and if you’re not rubbing I’d leave it. I’d even keep the wheels, they are forged, not like it’s crap. I love the bronze M wheels with almost every color.
    I would never reuse stretch bolts, that’s a no go. It’s a German thing.

    • @myounz
      @myounz  Před rokem

      Thats exactly what most of my friends say! I'm going to focus on other upgrades for now and go back to wheels later down the road! Agreed, I am glad I swapped out the bolt.

    • @dandreurquhart3511
      @dandreurquhart3511 Před 8 měsíci

      The term Forged is just a marketing term, all wheel are forged to a certain extent they all crack the same on shit roads depending on low of a profile tire you have.
