    The kid that said they wanted to be an actor because their "mom said so" made me sad :(. Along with the mom that said it's every girls dream to be a model. That's so ignorant and sad for someone to say, let your kid do what they want. And I can assure you not every girl wants to be a model, I for sure don't want to be one

    • @luciasofia8890
      @luciasofia8890 Před 6 lety +20

      Right? I mean there's nothing wrong with wanting to be a model, but for a parent to be dragging you into it and telling you its what you want at that age... That girl is going to have damage when she's older.
      I never wanted to model. My mom and older sister did some on tv when I was a kid, I liked helping backstage. When I was a toddler i was backstage at a show my mom did and a male model put me on his shoulders and walked with me (I can only imagine the poor, swooning audience), but I wanted to be a vet.
      Actually, first I wanted to be a lion. Then I wanted to be a vet.

I don't mean to act sexy or older that my age it just happens. Also does everyone else think it it's weird that you have to look younger and shorter than your age to be a child model but you have to be taller than average height to be an adult model?

    • @whatdoyousuppose
      @whatdoyousuppose Před 7 lety +46

      while I agree with that, I think there's better ways to develop thick skin than flat out telling a minor that their boobs are too big. I'm in the industry (entertainment, not modeling) and how I built my thick skin is getting used to rejection after rejection, being told I wasn't right for this or that, and being told I need to practice more. And I did. I took all the constructive criticism and fed it into each new opportunity and audition. I've gotten to sing solo at Carnegie Hall now and have my eyes set on Broadway. All the people who have ever made it will tell you they've heard more "no"'s than "yes"'s, and that is absolutely true.

      This is EXACTLY like the moms in the pageant shows like Toddlers and Tiaras. Its like the woman on here says....Some of the children you can tell are happy and enthusiastic and really want to do it and some are crying and screaming and scared and being FORCED to do it because as that little boy says "MOMMY wants me to" and they would be much happier sitting at home watching Disney movies or playing with their toys, being a normal kid. And the sad thing is, Mom doesn't seem to care whether the child doesn't want to do it.....I have seen moms on Toddlers and Tiaras with screaming, crying kids, who spend literally THOUSANDS of dollars on costumes and makeup and modeling lessons and then FORCE the kids into the hair and makeup and make them to go onstage and then they get mad when their kid doesn't win the crown. Its disgusting in my opinion. Let them be kids.

    Growing up, I always wanted to be on Broadway, and when I went to a audition, I felt like I was the only kid there who ACTUALLY wanted to do this and had to do a million chores and sell buckets worth of Lemonade to convince my parents to let me go. Luckily, I’m in acting school now, but the fact that my first gig was with 7 or 8 year olds who wanted to go and play soccer or/and paint their nails without their mom’s trying to get them to go out and be Kardashian famous, was, and still is, pretty disconcerting. In fact, I have words for it that would not be appropriate to say on this server.

      If the parent wanted to act, they should do it. Not make kid do it if kid is not interested. The children sit around to wait for their part. In the beginning its long hours of auditions, even with an agent, at times. Thee can be a lot of rejection. There's a lot of expenses involved even with the agent paying for certain things.
      Never pay an agent. Thats a scam. Photographers in NYC are not allowed to be agents. The BBB or Consumer Affairs has a document on legitimate modeling and acting rules.i got it years ago from NYC.

I would never push my children in to something they don’t want to do. I think it’s more the parents that want the fame and money and that’s just wrong. • @majormana1
      @majormana1 Před 6 lety +1

      Yup and there are also kids who want to be there but freeze in front of adult strangers and/or cameras. I did some commercial work in late 80's you'll never find it. and even if do won't know which is me. I look nothing like I did at 3 and 4 in those commericals now a days. I was born blonde. For time I was naturally strawberry blonde then naturally mousey brown. Now hair is dark. I've seen kids in waiting areas telling mom or dad usually mom this is so fun then get to point of talking to adult strangers and be like slient or where ok till camera and be like nope. I've seen mother's telling kid this will be blast. I've always been ADHD though not diagnosed till adult so to me it was blast to meet and play with new ppls my brain didn't think anything of it. For commercials they sorted you into looks and because of commercials having less time for auditions after separated and those who didn't fit told bye they had basic home camera I knew it wasn't on despite what they told us. Then they made sure are heights fit for what they wanted. Then they talked to us behind camera and whoever fit everything and didn't freak got the part. Then a lot if shouting 1-2 weeks later when actually shot commercial. Sometimes at 3-4 I was to short for commercial as got older they didn't like my hair color. Commercials are more diverse now

    This is very interesting to see.
    When I was little, I BEGGED my mother to take me to casting calls and we never went. As I grew older, I understood why...
    I’ve known about drug issues and sexual abuse scandals, but I’ve never seen kids say they want to do something because “mommy said so”.
    That’s very startling. I was always under the impression that child actors were the ones who begged their parents to be a part of TV.
    Now, years later, I am entering 8th year of teaching and I can’t imagine putting any of my kids under this much pressure, whether they initially asked to be on TV or not.

    • @judichristopher4604
      @judichristopher4604 Před 2 lety +2

      I am sorry to disagree with you...
      My daughter started when she was 4 years old... Did I make her? ...NO... I gave her a chance (if she wanted to act)... The reason I put her into acting classes at the age of 4 is because I already KNEW that they would "HELP" her grow, learn and have fun doing just that... so much so she SKIPPED the first grade...
      Now my daughter is 28 years old... still acting and I'm an Acting Teacher.
      I do agree with parents that NO parent should make a child take acting lessons or do acting if they don't want to... but in the last 24 years I have never seen anything WRONG with any of the students I have been around.
      Drugs? That is up to the individual student...
      I do NOT like it when people say acting leads to drugs and drinking anymore than sports do the same thing... it is up to the Child... and their choices later on.
      I am also a Licenced School Teacher and I am going to reopen my Acting Studio so students can also have a positive outlet instead of going to TOC or JCC...
      I don't know where people seem to think this is a lot of Pressure, although there is a lot of work... A GOOD Acting Coach or Acting Director TEACHES the student to be prepared... and it's a lot of fun.
      Acting isn't for everyone... but I would say, let the student go to a Acting Camp or an Acting Class for a couple of weeks... it is a lot of fun.. and they LEARN how to deal with life later on too!

    This is just moms making kids achieve their failed dreams for them. It should be only the kids who choose this. Not the parents. When a question is given to one of the kids, the mom fills in the blank. That is wrong and children should say what they want about something they feel.

  • @TomokiVincent
    @TomokiVincent Před 7 lety +27

    I'm not hating, but if the kids don't know "I think..." then they shouldn't do it. If they want it for fame, they aren't going for the right reason, a manager will not accept someone who wants fame because it sounds armature and managers only want professionals or someone who has a professional personality. Parents shouldn't force their children into Entertainment because if they child doesn't want to do it or doesn't know yet, they won't work as hard

  • @LiliofParis
    @LiliofParis Před 6 lety +6

    Just my personal experience. My son was scouted by an important kids model/actor agency in Paris when he was the same age. Of course, it’s difficult to refuse. If I may say, he looked right what the model industry was looking for, meaning he was called few times per week and had Advertising contracts ( sadly, signing with an agency doesn’t garantie you to be called often). Sometimes, I had to decline some castings just because he didn’t want to go or wanted to play at the park. It’s not uncommon to wait 1 or 2+ hrs for 5 min casting. This stressful for everybody and of course, kids refuse to cooperate sometimes. Some parents dreams are not the child’s ones. My son’s agency is very human and respects the children ( I’m not a fan of these agents in the video). In France, when a model/actor child earns money, it is legally blocked on a special account till the child is 18. Parents can’t take the money. If you read my comment and you are a parent of a model to be, please understand that if a casting declines your child is not personal. They don’t decide alone (Ad and movie directors have to agree as well). They have specific criteria, doesn’t mean your child is not cute or didn’t do his/her best in front the camera. Don’t become bitter.

    • @LiliofParis
      @LiliofParis Před 6 lety

      In my case it is not.
      I always asked my son before if he wanted to go to an audition. If he says no, well I say no to the agent. Simply like that. If an audition takes too much time, or he doesn’t feel it and he said: ‘mum i’m tired, let’s go’ then we go.
      I always gave him the choice. Abusing parents don’t.

    I took my own daughter to a model call when she was about 9 years of age. We made it to the second round where we had to go to a city a few hundred miles away to meet the model agencies and do modeling so they could see if she really had it. i knew before they got to her that she had it. I let her chose if she wanted to do this or not and also the expenses of going made the choice for us. I am glad that she said she did not care if she did it. It was just the principle to see if she had what they were looking for.

Oh, and if you want an agent we need a monthly agent fee of 99.00 until your special little victim, ehhem, i mean star, has his first role. Thousands of dollars and a contract to stay hush hush later, kid ends up traumatized.
