  • Sky News host Caleb Bond has applauded X owner Elon Musk for refusing to obey Brazil’s orders to take down various accounts on the social media platform.
    Mr Bond said the Brazilian court directive is “obviously the first step to dictatorship”.
    “Once you start telling the media and social media what they can and cannot publish, you are directing people to think a certain way,” he said.
    “Elon Musk has now said they’re not going to adhere by these court directives.
    “They are going to do what they want and face the consequences later.”

    People forget Lula is a corrupt ex-convict, convicted of corruption and only got out of jail 2 years later because of a corrupt judge that revoked his conviction, that says a lot for brazilian judges

    • @Lufernaal
      @Lufernaal Před měsícem

      that's not true. Now I don't like Lula either, but what you said is fake news. He did go to jail, but the conviction was revoked because of the speed of the trial and lack of weighed evidence. He was convicted by one judge, Moro, who later was found to have sped up the process. Several judges and different courts were responsible for his conviction being retracted.
      Now, Lula did allow corruption to flourish under his presidency and did nothing to stop it - it is naive to say he didn't know about it -, but apart from the apartment purchases that were suspicious at first, but were later explained, there was no evidence that he received any bribe from any of the people involved in the Car Wash operation or any other corruption scandal.
      I'd personally place him more as incompetent and dumb than a criminal master mind.

    IF IT WEREN'T FOR PEOPLE LIKE ELON THAT PAID 44 BILLION TO ENSURE FREE SPEECH.... WHO WOULD TAKE THESE PEOPLE AND GOVERNMENTS ON?
    REDICULOUS WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE WORLD TODAY.
    NOW WE NEED A CZcams ALTERNATIVE THAT DOES THE SAME.

    I'm Brazilian, born and bred.
    All I have to say is that Musk is a heroe of free speech. Nobody is perfect but this guy deserves that title.
    For all people abroad, suffice to say, that Alexandre de Moraes instituted censorship, DURING electoral period, to steer the results in favor of the candidate he wanted. As a result, we have a person formally convicted for corruption as president.
    Now the same person is trying to pass laws to control information on social media. And by control I mean, " we decide what's fake or not ", frightening.
    And this is the type of thing that happens in totalitarian regimes, people being arrested and fined for the crime of opinion.

    The tricky thing you guys don’t get is: in my country, Brasil, it’s a crime aka illegal to tweet or be xenophobic, homophobic, racist and etc. that is the law and anyone operating in my country should abide by it. We are a country that gives a lot to fuel the world and the economy and we deserve respect. Now, the problem is that the current judges and etc were not the ones that made the law/constitution years ago and they are in power and unfortunately they suck and are corrupt and misusing the Brazilian law to censor more people than they should. This is not a free pass for Elon musk to do this whole dramatic little show when he himself makes millions off of Brazil, so he should respectfully work this out in silence and legally instead of being arrogant and entitled. Imagine someone coming to Europe or the us and saying “f*ck your laws I do what I want”… stupid right? Elon needs to act like a business man and my Brazilian judges need to chill out. Period.
