    Today I wanted to go over a full review and demonstration of the Ironmaster Smith Machine. This was my choice when looking for a "home gym" that could allow me to do most, if not all of my training from home. This is what I will be using for my bulk and contest prep leading into my national competition. Thank you for watching, DON'T forget to subscribe to my channel and Bryon Sweno's channel (linked below or at the end of the video!)

    I just noticed that the lat pull down can also be used from a higher position if you keep the stoppers low. You can probably just sit on a bench with or without the attachment for leg ext to do a lay pull down from a normal height.
    Also to someone’s point below. I have used my superbench for 11 years and I am 6’3” and love it. It works well for tall people. The only issue is leg ext which can be fixed by inclining the bench 1 notch or just doing them barefoot(Tall people advice)
    Also someone below mentioned about using the Ironmaster in “Every title” of your videos which is a great idea to bring you more subscribers.
    I know I would personally like to hear your story on how you got started working out and maybe seeing some pics of you when you were younger.
    Also maybe a video from your wife on the struggles of getting back into shape after having kids. I’m planning to have kids next year and that would help my wife and I.
    Another video could be how you do workouts when you travel and don’t have access to any weights.
    Also a video on how you eat when you don’t have food with you and have to buy food from restaurants.
    Keep it up Drew Bishop! I am watching your videos everyday and Each time it makes me want the IM2000 even more

      I thought the same, about lat pull down, that you could use the Ironmaster superbench and start from higher position. I am thinking to sell my powertec gym and buy this one 🤔 big decision, because I really like the Powertec Leverage machine 😱

      Tomasz Golebiowski What do you think would bring you over the edge to end up getting this instead of your power tech leverage gym?

      @@Fitforacting good question, I really like the Powertec Leverage machine but I have limited space in my shed I am struggling to do everything, the Ironmaster 2000 takes less room and I really like Smith machine, plus vertical leg press and you can do normal squats, pull up bar attachment, cable pull down, low row and many more. And the leg attachment on Ironmaster is much better than powertec attachment,, the bench is more stable, the Powertec bench is a bit wobbly, got less available angles to set up. There is a few things that they could do better, they do some improvements every year but still is not perfect. Got some time to decide, will see 😉

      Works great in all angles. Up to 600lb limit on incline and 1000lb on regular bench. Get the wheels and get the regular bench. It will give you an extra seat height over the pro bench. Many accessories to use with it and I have thrown it in my car to do workout it s at the park. It’s sturdy but not too heavy to move around

    I also have the IM2K, and it does have a lot of versatility. I do wish however they would have left the slide rails in chrome, and would have number stamped the holes. It can be a pain to work the adjustments for both sides during a workout for various bench press movements, etc. I like it overall, but a few things have been a bit disappointing... And you'll find the Ironmaster website will not post reviews that are not 100% favorable.

    • @donquixote...
      @donquixote... Před 5 lety +2

      Good questions... Initially I'll reiterate that overall it's pretty well built, versatile, etc. I already mentioned the main issue I'd like to see done. I'm a home gym guy, but a home gym typically requires more set up, and that both adds time, and slows down what you're doing. Most things you'll just have to figure out as you're using it. But one other thing I'll tell you about is the leg press plate (I have pkg E). The plate is only about 6" wide so can't get your whole foot on it, and it's perfectly flat (no angle) limiting ROM a little. The answer I received was that I could attach a piece of plywood or something to it, etc. I'm sorry, but for the price I would expect all the basic housekeeping to be done on it, and common sensical characteristics to be included. There are after all plans you can find online to build your own wooden bubba gym if that's what you want. Not knocking that btw, as I built a bench, etc., like that when I was a kid. Or, hey listen I understand the idea of keeping the price down for most people, but that doesn't mean premium options can't be available and offered as an upgrade at the time of purchase.

    • @Fitforacting
      @Fitforacting Před 5 lety +2

      Don Quixote Thank you for your detailed response. I wish it was adjustable too. I will have to make the wooden attachment and straps because I need that angle to do it in comfort. I watched this video hundreds of times and can’t wait to get it. I love hearing from people like yourself with input. There is not much information on the internet about the IM2000 and I know Ironmaster sold many of them. There is maybe a total of 8 people online that talk about it and it made me wonder why more people don’t talk about the machine if it’s that good. Is your cable system still working smoothly? I found out its monthly that it should be sprayed with Silicone and not every few months like they recommend. Thanks again 🙏🏼

    • @donquixote...
      @donquixote... Před 5 lety +1

      @@Fitforacting Yes, the cable system works fine. For general protection and aesthetics I probably could clean and lube it a bit more, but I haven't. Make sure you put it together according to the instructions (which you'll find you kinda have to, not many short cuts), so that everything starts out aligned properly and that goes a long way to make it flow smoothly. This may be some guys mistake because they don't want to look at the map on a road trip, so to speak. Another thing is notice mentioned was that you don't always have to use so much weight on it (because it only has a couple of pulleys). Some guys are probably too focused on the weights and lube might be the difference in a half a pound or something...(???) One quirk about the cable part is that where the cable comes out and down at the top front of the machine, the pulley doesn't turn (and there's no way to make it and still have a functional unit). The result of this is you need to be aware of it as you pull the cable out. You can pull the cable anywhere along the plane of the pulley (an upgrade from my previous machine), but not laterally or perpendicular to the pulley. If you do that regularly it could damage the vinyl cover on the cable, etc., and or the pulley, and consequently it may not roll as smoothly. It's common sense, and you should notice it right away, but some people won't consider it. So, use it, don't abuse it, then just lube it as it needs and it should be just fine. I've had mine for about five years and it looks and works about like it did when I took it out of the box.

    Great video, man.
    I've been interest in IronMaster products for years now, but never pulled the trigger. The COVID-19 outbreak has me taking a serious look at finally putting together a home gym. I've looked at other brands and found ForceUSA rack systems appealing as well. Specifically their Folding MyRack. I'd lose the Smith and cable capabilities though if I went that route. Still leaning towards IronMaster. I should have bought one sooner rather than later because IronMaster recently discontinued their Pec Dec attachment. I love pec decs to supplement dumbbell flys, so having the option was a huge plus. Really kicking myself over not pulling the trigger years ago.
    I'm still looking around for the most versatile setup. Anyone wanna chime in and help me make up my mind on IronMaster or recommend something else? Looking for something that's as versatile as can be while not taking up massive amounts of space (planning on putting it in a spare bedroom).

      If you’re talking about using cable movements with a lower weight, you can hook the cable up to a kettlebell or loading pin. I also have a 25lb plate that has holes to grip the plate so I can hook up the cable to a 20lb. kettlebell, a 25lb. plate, and then the bar is 36 lbs. with no weight. Those increments are good enough for me but yeah basically anything you can hang on that hook that is lighter than the 36 lb. bar will work.

      RIP EVO this Smith machine feels like real free weight! It doesn't have a balancing or counter system. Literally like gravity! It's great. It correlates to real-life free weight and I actually prefer to row and deadlift with it. I get great isolation out of it!

      @donquixote... Před 6 lety +2

      Depends on what you're doing with it, and in the end what you like it for, and don't like it for. Currently, I use it for standing calf raises, and shoulder shrugs. With some exercises like these, the balancing issue is moot and actually is useful in the case of calf raises. Everything else I prefer a free bar for bar path issues you mentioned.

      i mean, you have to put it in the title. look at all your videos and the ones with ironmaster in the title have the most views. by far. tags are not as powerful as title words

      Rwnzo FC tell me about your likes and dislikes of the cable tower please? I was thinking about getting it before I found the IM2000.
      Also I totally agree with you. Not many people put Ironmaster in their titles and there isn’t many videos out there so that will increase numbers for sure

      @@drewbishopfitness Whatever, how would you rate it compared to Commercial Gym...all you have from IRONMASTER?

    Smith machine? the highest tech, most expensive, shiniest piece of equipment is always inferior to a low tech piece of iron.

      This machine does it all as you can see. Nothing beats Iron for price and effectiveness but.....if you are alone and not safe, you can die. At least having this machine will keep you alive if used properly and you still have accessories like spotter arms, smith machine, or suspension straps from spud. Going to you channel to see your workout vids 💪🏽
