Uncommon Throws in Ultimate Frisbee

- Along with the most common throws in ultimate, we have the ability to throw a bunch of other throws which aren't very common or never ever used in a game...but they're throws and learning to throw them is a good way to improve your snap, your field awareness and your overall throwing ability. I would not recommend using these throws in a game, unless absolutely necessary. The throws are, in order:
- Behind the Back Backhand
- Behind the Back Forehand
- Between the Legs Backhand
- Around Both Legs Backhand
- No Look Backhand
- No Look Forehand
- Switcheroo
- The Dipsy Doodle (or The Paintbrush)
- Leftie Backhand
- The Dad on the Beach
- Helicopter
- Overhand Wrist Flip (or the Chickenwing or Captain America or Cave Man)
- Reverse Overhand Wrist Flip (or Blind Overhand Wrist Flip)
- Upside Down Backhand
- Sky Hook
- Helix Thumber
- Helix Scoober
- Helix Hammer
- Peepee
- Double Peepee
- Between the Legs Forehand (with a mark)
- The Houdini
- The Dinner Plate
- Spinarama

Chickenwings 4 LIFE
Dad on the Beach is magic
The lefty backhand is actually rather common if you pay attention
I use the leftie back hand when ever I'm not using the leftie forehand
I remember you throwing me a between the legs of you and a defender backhand for a game win!
My captain chickenwing pulled at a tournament and freaked the entire oposing team out hahaha XD
It was for the pull at the start of the second half (:
Indoor or outdoor?
About The helicopter you did, is it suposed to be drifting down because when my mates and I throw helicopter we throw at an angle getting more distance. However i dont know if that is correct
Double Peepee is epic!
Hey, I've been having trouble throwing the paintbrush, or the dipsy doodle, or the Lonnie, or whatever you want to call it. Do you have any tips for that?
Nicholas Hymson just watch people do it and just do what u think works. I got it by acciden while spinnging it and i dropped it but it stayed on my finger
I throw a thumb throw a lot outta reaction, you should show that as an uncommon throw too, I am notorious in my league for using this throw in place of a flick
the last one would be travel but i got the idea of the throw thank you
I'm not a great player, but I love the sport, and I can do the dipsy doodle. XD
I do a Houdini all the time, it only looks when the person falls for it
The behind the back forehand is called the Huffer. :D
The last one is legal? you moved your foot, that's not travelling?
traveled a bit on the spinerama but i like that one
i think the helix thumber looks sweet
how do a dipsy doodle???
how do you throw the sky hook?!? please :)
cheers fella! I've pretty much got the jist of how to do the rest of them, its just that one!
Still waiting on that explanation :)
overhand wrist flip/ Chicken wing.
Nice
SKY HOOK ftw btw :)
u r SO dancing @ 0:07. ;) haha
switcheroo and sky hook.. How?!
Sky hook
What I initially learned to throw like so it was always easy for me
overhand wrist flip is the scooby!
No it's a chicken wing. I suppose you meant the updside down backhand.
@@MaximilianBerkmann No, it's an overhand wrist flip. Chickenwing is a high ZZs backhand from under the armpit similar to the "dad on the beach", but in Ultimate, all the original names of Freestyle Frisbee throws (born in the 70s and 80s) are being mixed up. You guys are not the only frisbee sport, you know. And Actually, before the sidarm throw (flick) was born, you used to throw overhand wrist flips in the right side.
Best Regards.
"Dipsy doodle"? That's a gunslinger, and a pretty ugly one. The disc should be flat through the entire movement. Otherwise, nice work.
It's an incredibly important throw! I'm sure it will break your game wide open when you master it.
why Switcheroo ?
The last one he travelled sooooo badly lmao
over exaggerating
Shit! I had no idea there were all these Great throws!
there's more where that didn't come from. you should watch some freestyle frisbee videos. :-)
The overhand wrist flip is called a chicken wing.
It's actually the reverse. It was called an overhand wrist flip before it was called a chicken wing. And many disc sports (including canine frisbee) still refer to it as an overhand wrist flip, as it's a very popular throw. The history is clear so I'm doing my best to make sure that people know the origins :)
Frisbee Rob Would you mind pointing me to some resources where I can read about that?
Not sure if there are any online. But my sources are people who have been playing frisbee since the 60's and 70's and continue to be heavily involved today. People like Dan Roddick, Jim Palmeri, John Kirkland, Don Cain, Lawrence Frederick, Jens Velasquez. Hall of Famers, and the people who have done more for the sport than anyone else. So their opinions, memories, stories, and history is solid so you can be assured that anything on my channel lives up to their standards and their knowledge.
Where's the Statue of Liberty?
Song name
It's "Lisztomania (Alex Metric Remix)" by Phoenix
got me at double peepee
No okie doke?
***** It's like....well you fake a flick, then twist your body weight and throw a backhand while still on the flick side. One of Justin Allen's throws.
***** "I'd say Justin Allen's is the okie doke -- throwing a backhand in a forehand stance to break the mark. That or chest high layouts..." Found this on a reddit thread about throws.
Yea kinda, but you still throw the backhand from the backhand side (like the left side of your body for righties), just from the forehand stance. Hahaha that probably makes no sense, it's so hard to describe! It's easier to explain in person.
all the "helix" throws even the normal ones helix its just reverse ..
I can do between the legs flick better than flick Huck. I know.
SeaBiscuit?
Oh, Thanks (: I made a Staker trick shot in my latest video, if you wanna check it out!
A no look backhand is uncommon?? Thats what our best player on our team usually throws and thats how we won State this year LOL
It's more that you very rarely need to use it.
no udowf,indefensible
3:48 I would call travel so hard.
Last one is a travel :(
last one was a travel. smh
I swear I see Sherri Rose's bad spelling on every single video/post on Facebook and CZcams
