The glossy front is such a weird design decision when they have matte everywhere else, it's like they want the speakers to appear more plasticy and cheaper than they are
Haha true
I've been shopping around for replacement speakers for my PC for way too long, but I think your review of those settled it. Thank you for the very informative review!
Pleasure, glad you found it useful. Let me know how you get on when you get it :)
@@TotallydubbedHD I already received them, fastest Amazon delivery I've ever had xD. These really do sound great! My desk is very crowded at the moment as I have two monitors and also a spot for my 17" work laptop to work from home, so I really didn't have the room for bookshelf type speakers. I was looking for smaller than this even but it seems like you compromise on sound quality a lot. I had a Logitech 2.1 system that was really showing its age. I'm very happy with my purchase, thank you again!
Edit: also as you said, the power and USB/audio cables are rather short. I like the length of the left to right cable though.
@@Pastroni89 glad I could help and pleased you're enjoying them :)
These are amazing they sounded a hundred times better than my last speaker which was a libratone Zipp, even for half the price. Two speakers sound way better than one bluetooth speaker that sounds muffled. Glad I chose the traditional approach then convenience.
Glad you're enjoying it!
Hi mate, what 2.0 speaker set up would you recommend? Want to use for music and general pc usage budget is £100. I was looking at these but the MR4s look great but not sure if I should be looking at monitor speakers for general usage?
Great review...you did mention that you can connect headphones to the speakers. But the interesting feature of this, according to creative, is that you can leave the headphones connected to the speakers and use a button at the front of the speaker to toggle from speakers to headphones. Very handy if you are listening when other people are going to sleep.
I have two questions for you,
Have you tried to connect the USB C port on the speaker to a phone to play music from the phone to the speakers? I was just curious about the possibility of playing high bit rate digital music from the phone.
What microphone did you connect to the speakers, the sound quality was very good.
Thanks
DC
That's a good point, indeed you can do that (headphones).
Didn't try the phone connection unfortunately, but might try at some point when I get them out again.
As for the mic, it's the modmic 4.0 :)
Is this a speaker and a bulit-in soundcard with playback and recording capability?
hello how much more bass does t100 have over t60? is it drastic difference?
Thanks for this review! How would you compare these to the Bose Companion 2 Series III speakers?
Glad you liked the review! No idea regarding the other speakers though.
I have Q Acoustics 3010i (I see your 3030i in the background). Ho do you find the T60 in comparison with the 3030i? I guess it's comparing two very different range of speakers, but curious to know if the difference is worth the price difference.
Nowhere near; as you said, different leagues.
From mid-range, highs, soundstage and mid-bass accuracy - the T60 are no match for a set of bookshelf speakers like the 3030i + a proper amp/receiver.
Thanks for the review!
Pleasure, hope it was helpful!
@@TotallydubbedHD It was. I am still not sure what to get, haha. Any similarly sized (or slighlty larger) bluetooth stereo speakers you could recommend?
@@markuslolen6127 at this price? Nope!
@@TotallydubbedHD 200-300 € would be fine as well but all the other seem much bigger. My old Creative T30 are falling apart. They had good sound and good bluetooth functionality. :(
@@markuslolen6127 you could look into the Edifier active speakers I've review; just go on CZcams and put: "Edifier TotallydubbedHD" :)
Thank you for the comprehensive review! May I ask for your opinion whether you would choose the T60 or the T40 speaker? It seems that T40 is even more expensive.. so I am quite confused which one is better
Thanks!!
Pleasure, glad you liked it! Not tried the T40s, so can't comment. But judging by the comments found on this video, it would seem the T60s are indeed the way to go!
Hello! I am looking for a desktop speaker system for my dorm room. Would you recommend these Creatibe t60, t100 or should i go with a soundbar system like the creative stage v2? I honestly looking for something under 150 cad.
I'd recommend these for a dorm room!
My classic grey T20s and grey T40s look the best I think.
Good vid.
Thanks!
The speaker sound worse off compare to my previous T50 when connecting via AUX-IN. It got better via USB and using the Creative Apps
Are these still a good recommendation for around $100? The USB connection is a great feature that I'd use. The Logitech z407 is similarly priced but I've read the power supply on them is low quality.
Yup
Good review, is the stereo width enough for movies and games? Is there a better result with the Dolby Access application than with its own software?
Thanks! Not sure about the software; as for the width; it should suffice, but do bear in mind my comments made in the video.
@@TotallydubbedHD thanks. I want to use it more on my PS4 Pro. It should give more than casual 2.0 speakers for games.

T40 has been highly recommended since like 2007 or 2009 as one of the best desktop 2.0 speaker sets. They released two things since then, the T50 (discontinued) and T100 (garbage, tinny sound which is basically just a bunch of midrange). The T60 is brand new now, and I am super curious how they compare to T40. Sadly I can't find any comparisons. Not sure which to buy. T40 has dual 16 watt drivers, but they seem to have managed magical things with the T60's single 15 watt driver. The T60 speaker cabinet design is about 14 years newer than the T40, so it makes sense that they've figured out ways to design better speakers in that time.
Edit: I'm picking the T60. The various EQ features let you switch between what you want to prioritize (bass for deep music, or midrange/vocal clarity). And the individual EQ bands let you manually tune things until you get good results for your typical content. They sound great and very well balanced and the software side of things really makes them amazing. With all those adjustments, their sound is less boxy than T40s to be totally honest, even though they don't have two drivers. The fact that you can also play music directly from a smartphone to them via bluetooth is a great addon feature. So yeah, I'm picking T60.
Enjoy!
@@TotallydubbedHD Thanks, your video helped a ton with the decision. It arrives next week, maybe Monday. I'll definitely post a followup after using it for a while.
One great feature I just noticed is that wasn't specifically mentioned in your video: You can connect headphones/headsets and the headset mic on the back of the speakers, and then there's a very simple button on the front of the speaker to switch audio output between speaker mode or headset mode. They can stay permanently plugged in. Wow. That simplifies things a lot, since I was constantly unplugging the headset and plugging in my old speakers when I switch several times a day. This is gonna be a huge upgrade. Looking forward to posting a small review about how it went.
@@BenderdickCumbersnatch pleasure buddy, glad I could help! Look forward to seeing what you think vs the T40 :)
@@TotallydubbedHD I've received it now. The T60 is leagues above T40. Out of the box the T60 is a bit muddy, but the speakers come to life with the software and extra features:
- Crystallizer effect is great for lifting the veil and adding treble to these speakers.
- Clear Dialog is so good that I keep it permanently enabled even for music. It doesn't cause excessive treble/mids whatsoever, and does its job of making voices very clear. You can definitely hear that it takes away a little bit of the bass, but that's really a good thing since these speakers already produce a lot of bass and this reduction actually helps make the bass sound more controlled.
- Surround effect actually works. I suppose it's some psychoacoustic phase shifting stuff, not sure, but it really widens the stereo image. I keep it permanently enabled.
- Smart Volume to smooth out the volume differences between different content (I guess it's a compressor), is good. I keep it enabled too. Less fiddling with volume.
- Equalizer could be useful but I don't use it yet. It's disabled. Because the other effects do a great job lifting the veil already.
- There is plenty of bass, so I never enabled the Bass effect. Literally don't need it.
- The ability to permanently keep a headset plugged in and switching between speakers and headset is insane. I love it. It's super handy. No more crackling and issues when switching between speakers and headsets. Games that can't handle audio device switching no longer have to be restarted to "regain audio", since you never switch audio output since it all goes through the speakers.
- The USB soundcard/DAC/ADC in these speakers is good. No noise or hiss.
- I absolutely love the noise removal feature for the microphone passthrough. It's a great bonus feature.
- The ability to play stuff over Bluetooth works flawlessly and adds a whole new dimension to the speakers. Morning music via the smartphone is now easy to achieve.
The sound is fantastic. It sounds better than most 2.1 (subwoofer) desktop systems I've tried in the past. It has just the right amount of bass for me. It's punchy and deep without being obnoxious/muddy.
Any downsides? Only a few:
- The wall power cable is short.
- The USB cable is ridiculously short (I may buy a replacement for it since I'm currently forced to use awkward USB ports to reach).
- When using headphone passthrough, the headphone volume is controlled via the volume knob on the speakers. This is a little bit stupid, perhaps. Because headphone volume is very different from speaker volume, so I end up having to use two wildly different settings depending on whether I use headphone or speaker mode. But it's a minor complaint and I will get used to which speaker volume positions to use.
- The "Smart Volume" feature seems to cause weird volume ducking when you have quiet background music and then a sudden loud sound effect. It doesn't just lower the effect. It makes it sound weirdly inverted. I may end up disabling Smart Volume, but it's a rare occurence and only happens in games with huge dynamic range (very quiet music and then suddenly loud noises).
- And the final downside is the volume itself. It's loud... Way too loud. When using it via USB from a computer, the volume basically goes from "Silent" to "ear blasting" within a few millimeters of volume knob turning. So I had to counteract this to get more range on the physical volume knob, by using a few tricks: 1) Set the Windows volume output to 30% instead of 100%, so that the speakers aren't receiving a full volume signal (this "fix" is a tiny bit worrying since anything that suddenly changes my digital volume to 100% could perhaps damage the speakers, but that risk is very low). 2) Enable the "Smart Volume" setting, but I am still not sure whether I will keep that effect due to the aforementioned "sound inversion" issue it can cause sometimes. 3) Keep the knob in pretty much a static position and just use the digital Windows volume controls instead. But that's because I am quite far from the speaker. Could also do the reverse, by keeping Windows volume static and using the physical knob instead if you want.
It feels like the reason for the extreme volume/amplification issue when connected to a PC, is that the amplification seems tuned for smartphones (where you rarely have 100% output volume), and not tuned for PCs (where it's common to leave windows at 100% volume and just use the speaker knobs instead). But ehhh, it's survivable and I am already getting used to it.
In the end, those downsides aren't a big issue and I will get used to them quickly, and may perhaps even find better workarounds. The upsides and features and sound quality are absolutely incredible and I definitely would rate this product about 9.5/10. If it didn't have the minor issues it'd be a 10/10 thanks to its sound quality and overall amazing features. And the value is immense.
Thanks again for your video which helped me choose these speakers!

@@BenderdickCumbersnatch thanks so much for sharing those detailed thoughts, much agreed with the analysis, although, some of the settings I don't use.
As for the volume, haha - that's a good point. Tbh, I run at 50% in Windows with my Cambridge Audio CXA61 for that exact reason - also gives me smaller increment steps when increasing or decreasing the volume :)
would it be possible to configure/use the equalizer outside the operating system environment, or it's just available in windows?
As far as I'm aware, it's only in Windows
Good review! I just ordered a set. I'm curious about one thing regarding the software, does the EQ affect the sound of the speakers outside of the app? Like if you close the app or switch to a different input source will it still have the EQ settings?
Thank you!
Good question; from memory it doesn't save it for another source - ie doesn't have a chip that stores its profile other than 'onboard' but could be mistaken!
@@TotallydubbedHD Ah damn, that's unfortunate if it doesn't do that. My whole plan was to set the EQ on a Windows laptop since I'm a Mac user. Still, I don't think I need to mess much with the sound that much though especially after listening to sound tests from other channels
Thanks a lot for the review! Any easy way to connect a subwoofer too? The motherboard comes with 7.1 audio output.
Don't think you'll be able to. Glad you liked the review!

@@TotallydubbedHD I did but I'm still unsure. I chose rock instead of Rnb and set all enhancements to on for the device..
thx for the video. i was thinking either to buy the t20 or t40 as pc speaker and happened to see your review on youtube. i dont know why creative dont reduce the price for t20 or t40 and it makes t60 more worth to buy. it is newer in design and connectivity and the price is cheaper even compare to t20...
No idea; but the T60s a great!
the t20 have a dedicated abd properly crossovered tweeter and a proper bass tube. they are only 40 watts though.
the have less digital connectivity, making them cheaper.
i am using the same t20's since 13 years. i had to fix an oxidised soldering connection to the right driver yesterday as it lowered its volume (simple resoldering it fixed it), that was the first maintainance in 13 years.
the newer models of the same loudspeaker have an anoying power saving mode in europe though.
Funny because there is so much contender and so little good quality reviews (you know, reviews with frequency analysis). Just to name a few from Creative around the same price: Pebble pro , T15 wireless, T100, Gigaworks T20 series ii and maybe the gigaworks t40 series ii. And that's just for 2.0 setups. Then you have Edifier, Logitech, Bose, etc. which all have some good products.
How do these compare to edifier rd1280 if u tried those
These will provide better low end extension and give you plenty of other customisation and options, but the Edifier will do better across the treble and provide better instrument separation.
Would you recommend them as a replacement for old T20 series II? I've got an issue with my right T20 speaker buzzing, so I was wondering if I should switch to T40, buy new T20s again or perhaps jump to something else entirely. I'd really appreciate your take on how they compare to the competition within the similar price range.
Not tried those, so can't comment, sorry! But I can't think of better sounding speakers for the price thus my positive review.
the t20's are pretty repairable. maybe a cable or soldering spot is damaged, which is easily fixed. or the headphone jack or cable has an issue
Yesterday I check t60 with my old t30, Jesus, my t30 much better, but I don’t know how download this app for equalizer etc.

Does everyone have a free usb-c under the speaker? I think no. Ok, then you can use the 3mm jack, but then the equalizer won't work and the sound will be flat and terrible. Do you want to play some kind of game and simultaneously turn on music on your phone via Bluetooth? Not! You can not! Or you listen to the sound of the game or the sound of music through the bluetooth, for each action you need to switch the mode on the speaker. This is complete nonsense. In addition, when listening to music through bluetooth, the equalizer also does not work, lol. The sound is very flat, there is no bass, it's terrible.
Yesterday I returned the new t60 back to the seller, I will continue to use my t30. Doing research on the Creative T-series speakers is so incredibly confusing. I can't even find measurements for some of these speakers.
Here's what I see people say:
- The T20 is a classic legendary balanced speaker.
- The T20 and T40 has woofer-breakup problems. (Did this get fixed in future models??)
- The T100 was never a good speaker.
