I came looking to narrow down my selection, instead I’ve increased my price point ten fold lmao!
Very well done reviews. I’m pleasantly surprised to have everything that matters to me talked about.
It's wonderful how not one of this chairs is available in Europe. I am learning about the very best office chairs that I can't even buy.
Yes. I search for clatina mellet. But its not available.
Some of these chairs are available on Europe. As you can imagine, much like your situation, not all European brands are available to us in the USA to review -Greg
@@btodtv yes, I know and I understand. It’s just funny because the only trustworthy channel that does exhaustive reviews on office chairs and other office products, does that on mostly products that aren’t available to me.
We have a way to get some Hag and Dauphin chairs. We have the Hag Sofi right now and are trying it out. So far, so good! Hopefully we can try to get some more European chairs mixed into the channel. -Ryan
Lol yes you are right they always make review on chair from US..
Took your advice and bought the Ticova a few weeks ago. Loving it so far! Thanks.
Great to hear! You're welcome! -Greg
been using the fern and love it for my office. would love another for my basement hobby space but whew the money. may go with the ticova.
Did you buy the $300 listing or the $160 one? I wanna buy it also but not sure which one is better
You bought it in a physical store or through Amazon?
You missed a huge feature of the 500 pick. The built in coat rack. This is awesome!
I bought the Ticova thanks to you channels recommendation, I can’t wait until it arrives
Hope you enjoy it! -Greg
I have the Fern as my daily driver as well in both my offices. I took your advice in not getting the headrest. Great video.
Very informative videos. Do you have a couple chair recommendations (up to $1000 budget) for someone with lower back/butt/ tailbone pain? I'm not sure if a firm or a soft seat cushion would be better. I currently have a cheap mesh chair and it has been the cause of this pain. Appreciate the effort you guys put into your videos!
Same situation here
From what I have heard, the Steelcase Amia seems to be a very common pick for comfiest seats, which could be something for you. They are regularly available in many regions for a decent price if you egt them refurbished ($500) I think BTOD (this channel) even offers refurbished Amia's for $480.
@@MaxxDW I’m sitting on Amia now on my last day to return and still trying to decide. 😮 Mostly the seat doesn’t seem comfortable for me after like 1 hour. Dunno I gotta try some others maybe. 5’10” 165lb
I wasn't expecting your lowest price point to go up to $300. No wonder you hate gaming chairs.
I got my 'Like new' Leap v2 from you guys last week, I'm in love with it so far!
Thank you for the support :) -Greg
I'm excited to get one myself soon as well. The least I can do for all this education is to give their product a try.
Just picked up a Ticova on a nice sale that's running on it right now. $140 shipped and arriving today.
Nice review, took a look at the first one you linked Ticova and it was 700 in Canada amazon, then went to the US and it was 179 with -60 cupon and got it for less than $300 instead. Thanks for the review and the links it saved me some $$
How is it
I have the digi knit fern with lumbar and headrest. I’m 5’6 and I like the headrest. The lumbar is pretty aggressive though. And the digi knit is a must if you’re going with the fern.
Sitting on the gaming embody I got 2 days ago, the seat is incredible
How's the back? I had the Gesture, but the seat became so awful I just sold it. Logi embody is the last expensive chair i consider. If it does not work I'm done w these high end joke of chairs.
@@sittkukk8278 I find it comfortable, stiffer than I expected given the flexibility in videos but its nice to sit in
It's sucks that the Fern in the digital knit configuration still isn't available in the UK.
I remember the issue being the material not meeting European quality standards, which is a shame.
I heard they are still working on making the digital knit available in EU, at earliest this summer.
@@RyoHazuki911 Good to hear that. 👍
I love a flexible back. I've used the leap and sayl but I really want to try the fern and enbody.
I am very pleased with my Fern. I like aggressive lumbar, so I got it with lumbar and digital knit. I'm also taller, so being able to adjust the height of the lumbar support is essential. I also think the digital knit or leather versions are almost essential for the Fern w/ lumbar, because the addition of 1/4 or 1/2 inch foam in the back (opposed to mesh) helps smooth the edges of the lumbar support. But if you can, you should find a store to try them out in for at least 30 minutes per chair.
Just bought the Ticova myself based off of your recommendation. Should be here in the next few days!
Keep us posted on how it holds up for you -Greg
@@btodtv Just set it up yesterday and I am loving it so far! I've always bought cheap gaming chairs on Amazon thinking "there can't be THAT much of a difference" and just bought extra padding and back support.. All I can say is I am really glad I found your channel. I work from home and had no idea what I was missing out on. Thank you!
Cheap gaming chairs damage the back or why did you switch from them to a traditional office chair design?
@@1anre I work from home so I'm sitting in the chair for over 8 hours a day. Gaming chairs I've used would leave my back sore and butt uncomfortable after awhile. No issues with any of that now!
@jbballer that's good to learn.
Almost made the mistake of buying one as they look so catchy and cool for your workspace, but I'm prioritizing my comfort over style as I'm going to be using the chair for long hours of work not short hours of gaming.
The Corsair TC200 I physically sat in and had that racing bucket seat design really felt good but its $500
It would be great to see a video that compares the Haworth Fern and Steelcase Karman chairs
Karman still hasn't been released, lol.
If you code (or similar) for a living where you can end up sitting in a chair and basically not moving for 10 hours then I'm not sure this is the proper list for you. I have the Steelcase Leap and am looking for something else. Specifically the words "tilt" and "recline" seem to be interchanged a lot. For the Leap the back reclines but the chair does not tilt. After a string of long days this can really wreak havoc on your tailbone. Shopping for something that actually tilts properly and it appears to be a sea of so-so chairs. If someone could take a chair out of a modern-day Volvo and make an office chair out of it I'd worship the ground they walk on.
What are your recommendations them instead of just critiquing what they've done
The irony… I can get directly from Haworth a new fern for 500€ without the digital fabric and yet I don’t find the chair that comfortable… but I really enjoyed the Aeron (where I would have to pay full price). To each their own, I guess.
where can you buy this from pls let me know
500??? Where? Gonna buy it asap
please tell us where you find this deal. A fern for 500 bucks can't be true lol
Is that using a discount code?
Now you need to help everyone score the deal ;) -Greg
Fyi Atlas will 3d print an adapter for the Fern for $25 and have it pre-installed before shipping
To add what headrest, the embody headest? -Greg
@@btodtv It's the Aeron headrest. There's a thread on the r/OfficeChairs subreddit from today. I'd share the link but any time I post a link in CZcams comments, it gets removed. But the final implementation is not janky at all
@@pyr0sphere Damn, that's impressive!
That's awesome, it would be cool if they did that for Steelcase chairs too.
Helpful video.
The one from 500 dollars looks the best
Had to find out that quality office chairs are such a niche market that i wasnt able to find any of the chairs tha sells in my country. (Yea Amazon works, but they charge 50+ dolalrs for shipping to my country, that's ways too much)
I have the Fern fully loaded and I Love it. Best ergonomic chair I ever had, luckily I bought it through retailer in Canada which gave a large discount and it took around 6 weeks for the chair to be shipped (Fully costumed).
Where did you buy it if not a secret? And for how much approx? I like its design the most
Yeah I'd like the discount as well lol I'll wait for it
What retailer please? Have been looking for a physical stores here in Canada with the highest selection of these office chairs you could actually sit on and test out.
Staples didn't really have what I wanted
Where do you buy an OM seating yes? I have tail bone issues and need as much padding as possible! Thanks
$500 budget, but I need headrest, what would you suggest? new or used, doesnt matter
What would be a good chair for someone petite? 5"3 and below? I'm 5 foot. I got the Steelcase Amia but it's not a perfect fit for me. I don't know if it gets much better than this though.
Hello guys, is it possible to share color combination(color IDs) of the Haworth Soji chair from your video, please?
Crazy how the 1st one is the only reasonably priced one specially for outside the US. :(
Office chairs can be a big investment, but the quality products will last a long time -Greg
Should I move from a gaming chair to a ergonomic office chair?
Yessssss gaming chairs are scam AF and f*CK ur back
I cant decide between the Yes chair and the Vera Chair. Im 6,4 230lbs if someone has any suggestions i would greatly appreciate it.
"starting with 300 dollars or less lol"
Most people wouldn't put over 150 for a chair. 300 dollars is already quite expensive.
OM Yes looks great, but cannot find a way to ship it in my country somewhere in Europe.
Is the OM Yes chair available anywhere in Canada? This one seems to be the best for my needs, but I can't find it outside of websites that only ship to the US.
Does anyone know when the fern digital knit version available in australia?
We need a RFM Verte review
Nice, but i have to get a car and a house first then i’ll think about it
So the OM Yes has the softest seat?
I am currently working form home as many people are these days. However my hobbies also mean that if I am not out or at the dining table then I am pretty much locked on my PC using the same chair.
I do get up and move around semi regularly, but it does mean sometimes I am in the same chair for ~15hrs. I have been struggling to find chairs that will remain comfortable usually due to seat padding failing over time, or backrest not being supportive enough. Will the office chairs at ~$600 - 750 mark cope with those regular long seating days?
I had a friend suggest the titan as he thinks the office chairs that cope with my needs would mostly be above $1400.
The Titan Evo gaming chair?
I have been looking for chairs nonstop for the last 3 weeks. While living in the Netherlands and trying to look for chair sub €300 range it seems almost impossible to find something suitable. Any suggestions? I think the best deal I have found so far is a refurbished Steelcase Leap v1 for €275.
Edit: It seems that Steelcase Leap v1 is now out of stock, and I am out of options.
The only thing I could recommend is saving up for a better chair, but that depends on how urgently you need a new chair.
Under $300, there aren't many good options available, unless you're able to find a good chair through Facebook marketplace, and you're able to test it out before buying.
I did actually reply to you yesterday, but CZcams mysteriously deleted my comment. 😑
Can you please list the colors of the 500 pick?
twisting and turning unconfortably on my gaming chair while watching this video... XD
Where is the desk from?
Can you please send/show me where I can buy the OM Seating YES chair for $500?!?!?!
I’ve watched a lot of your videos. Based on everything, I’m leaning toward the Steelcase Amia. I weigh 260lb, 5’11’’, 38” waist. Do you have any recommendations based on my size? I wish I could go sit in these chairs but nowhere nearby carries any Steelcase outside of Series 1. I will use my next chair about 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Sometimes more. Thanks!
Most of these chairs are rated 300-400 lbs, so you don't need to worry about the build quality. The Amia is a great chair, and it should be more than comfortable for you to use 8+ hours a day. Don't forget about the 12 year warranty, so if you have any issues you're pretty much covered.
I bought the titan evo and I am kind of regretting it
Please video of Vectra by SitOnIt Seating. 🙏
I am between the Ticova and the Leap (big price difference I know) I have a couple of cats that like to climb on chairs with their claws so I'm leaning toward the leap as it is a fabric chair and is also a high quality chair. (I'll be getting a chair cover to minimize the long-term damage but alas...) The mesh back is the main reason I'm having a hard time considering the Ticova due to the cats. How do you find mesh chairs hold up against cat claws (if applicable) and is the price difference of $300 CAD vs $1000 CAD worth it in your guys' opinion? I use my chair a fair amount (5-6 hours a day) but I also have a standing desk which I use to switch between standing and sitting positions. Appreciate your opinion as well as any advice you can give me! :)
Cat claws are tough to beat. They will win over time, regardless the upholstery type! A cover will likely extend the life the longest, since you can replace -Greg
Tell your cats they'll be paying for any damages caused to your new chair.
Get the Ticova
My Steelcase Gesture is the comfiest chair I’ve ever owned ❤
How would you rate the seat on the Ticova vs the Mellet?
Ticova seat is a bit softer and feels a bit bigger when you use it. The Mellet has seat depth adjustment though, so you get a better fit range out of it. I will say that if you have you extend the seat all the way out though, there is a pretty large gap between the seat and back. -Ryan
@BTODtv Thank you kindly! You've just convinced me to get that Ticova!
The $300 Clatina Mellet you list here is going for $500+ on Amazon unlike the Ticova that's showing up for $300 here
What could've made the price of the Mellet jump in under 3 months since doing your review?
Can’t find any one of these chairs in India :( Why are chair and desk manufacturers not more international
If these companies ever opened up a factory in India, then it might be possible to get your hands on a nice mesh office chair. The Indian market is massive, so these companies are missing out.
Not even a mention of the Neutral Posture?
Also, my daily driver is Amia because the other steelcase products have too prominent lumbar support
Not for Ryan! I love the Amia :) -Greg
what about Antares Pofit? is it good
Would you guys consider comparing your refurbished Leap V2 vs Crandall's remanufactured Leap V2? I bottom out of just about every chair I sit in (due to my boney butt - 6' 1/2" 140 lb. male). The new foam Crandall uses (with additional 3/4" thickness) is intriguing. The thin seat cushion was a dealbreaker for me, but now I'm wondering if maybe I could actually use this chair after all. However, obviously installing foreign foam could negatively impact ergonomics and perhaps it's nowhere near as comfortable as the 1/2" dense foam you guys add. Kind regards
The shape of their seat pad and density of the foam they use is completely different than the original. Our take is always to make the chair feel as close to original chair as possible. Trying to reinvent the Leap isn’t the right approach IMO. Especially when when neither brand has resources close to that of Steelcase -Greg
I got a Leap V2, and the soft foam of the seat bottoms out for me after sitting for a couple of hours. I'm on 5'10 170lbs, so that was surprising to me. I figured that buying the Crandall thicker seat would help, but for me I ended up feeling the plastic seat pan after a few hours in the seat.
I have a feeling I will have to go with a well build 24/7 commercial chair designed to hold up long hours of use.

It's either Bose or Logitech, but I'm not entirely sure tbh.
For the Ticova, does anyone know the difference between the $300 listing and the $160 listing?
Have you figured out if there is a difference yet?
@Deep Patel I bought the $160 listing and it seemed to have been new minus a faint smell on the cushion, it is kind of uncomfortable to sit for long periods of time however and the headrest doesn't do much
@trubbyrubbish have you traded it in for the $300 one now?

I bought the Autonomous Ergochair Pro a year ago and absolutely hate it. I'm considering between the LeapV2, the Amia, or the Fern, but there's no store around me that hold them for me to try them. Any tips on what I should do? My stats are 6'0 190lbs, and I sit at minimum 12hrs in the chair per day..if this helps lol
I have the same height and weight. Did you choose one?
That's gonna be a tough one, considering they're all fantastic chairs.
It'll depend on the following factors imo:
- If you want to save the most money, the Amia has the best value.
- If you want the best recline, then the Fern is the best choice.
- If you want the most aggressive lumbar support, the Leap v2 is the way to go.
Other than those aforementioned differences, all 3 chairs have a flexible backrest and all the adjustments you need.
If you're able to get free returns shipping, then I'd try whichever ones are available. It's really difficult to say which chair would suit you, when comfort is a very subjective matter and impossible to quantify.
Some of these look like they would bottom out on us big folk. Especially that Leap cushion.
The fern you cant get in australia. So disappointed. So many shit chairs in Australia.
How big are you? For comparison. Thanks
unfortunatelly non of them really available in my country.
gaming chairs looks more comfy since it seems like it has enough padding, the pillows and everything and I always thought you need to put something behind your head to rest a bit if you spend a lot of time on pc. it also feels like you are leaning a lot back on those chairs instead of sitting up.
will have to give it some thought, I assume gaming chairs are... not that great but in that price range the other options are not looking great either.
How is the steelcase leap still selling their product with such a garbage headrest? I just dont understand it. I've tried it several times and its absolutely terrible, the chair itself is quite comfortable.
best chair for sitting 12+ hrs a day?
fern / embody i should say
Fern, Leap, Embody, Zody, Amia would be my top. -Ryan

Probably not.

You'd have to look for any of the top chairs and see if they can sell you it without armrests.
I need the best office chairs for 5.4 height person
I would say an aeron size a is probably a good fit for you. But a Fern or embody could be better, depending on what you want in a chair. If you have sciatica a neutral posture might be ideal.
Would the seat pan on the fern be too short for my height at 6ft 2in?
The issue is that they do not deliver to Europe
If you want the seat-pan to basically touch the back of your thighs, then no. But it should cover 3/4 - 4/5 of your legs/butt, which is 'technically the correct way to sit' but it's personal preference. So the short answer is: almost definitely.

It's just another stupid gaming chair lol, Asus should just stick to making gaming peripherals and PC components tbh.

Why no aeron
Well since this is Ryan's list, I'm not surprised that he didn't mention the Aeron as he's known for not liking mesh chairs, especially mesh seats since they can cause uncomfortable pressure points on your butt that cushion/padded seats do not because they spread out your body weight better. The side bolsters on the seat and the hard frame for the backrest also make it a restrictive sitting experience and Ryan loves having more freedom of movement in his chair. That's why he didn't pick the Aeron in this video.
@Dylan Loo I couldn't have said it better myself! -Ryan
Because this is Ryan's list, not Robert's.
"every price" doesn't, unsurprisingly, mean _every_ price.
Leap is better than fern.
why are chairs so expensive
No good reason. Chinese overpriced garbage.
I dont understand how you can reccomend a $300 mesh chair when they sag after a year or two. People don't spend that much money on something they plan on replacing that soon. Unless you're buying high quality mesh, well beyond the $300 pricepoint.
I guess it would be because I disagree with your take. Maybe I could see that argument for a mesh seat but not the backrest. And truthfully, at the $300 or less price point, your goal should be to get 3 years out of the chair. If you can get 5, you've done really well. -Ryan
@@btodtv I can agree to disagree that my hyken i bought 10 months ago has a sagging back that makes me feel like I’m leaning on just the frame, a chair you ranked highly in this price range with the mellet. But I don’t feel that way about how long your goal for a $300 chair to last is. 3-5 years is how long iPhones last, not furniture. The only reason people’s chairs expire like milk is because it’s mesh. If the same chair was fabric, what would make you reasonably need to replace it in 5 years? Stains?
The Hyken is one is the cheapest mesh chairs available and a chair that all 3 of us ranked as F tier. It is one of the better options for under $200 but it is a bad chair when compared to the whole category. The 3 year expectation is because the chair is cheap. The parts are cheap, the upholstery is cheap. It’s is not built to last. Just like any other cheap product, it has a short lifespan. That’s why it’s cheap. Just because it is furniture doesn’t mean it will automatically last 10 years. -Ryan
EVERY price? And you start with 300? How about less than 100?
There isn't a chair for under $100 that I would be comfortable recommending. -Ryan
I sit on a yoga ball. Best value!
hm, I tried almost all of the steelcase and herman miller chairs by now and found the fern (the only one I tried from haworth) to be one of the most unspectacular and underwhelming experience of them all. overall not as comfy as it looks especially the back (had it without lumbar, but it was still not that great), bad quality of the seat depth adjumstment mechanism, hard seat pad, and pretty cheap feeling armsrests for a chair that cost 1k, the arm pads thin and cheap feeling and the whole armrests were quite wobbly. I'm still on the hunt I'm seriously still sitting on a 300dollar amazon ergo chair instead of all the ones from the big brands. None of them felt like a premium product or comfier. Especially haworths fern in my eyes. They all just set the prices high and can not deliver or only in one aspect and everything els eis worse than on a 300dollar amazon chair
What $300 chair are you sitting on?
I do agree that the Fern may have cheaper feeling armrests and maybe the seat/back comfort isn't going to work for everyone, although this isn't something you can just make your mind up about in a few days.
Foam seat pads take quite a bit of time to fully break in, especially ones from quality brands.
I do think that your expectations about these high-end office chairs may be unrealistic because a $300 chair will almost always be objectively worse than a chair from Herman Miller, Steelcase, or Haworth.
You make some good points about the Fern, but I don't agree that some random Chinese branded chair from Amazon is more premium than any high-end chair. The quality of parts, quality of adjustment, recline motion, overall build quality, and warranty will be so much worse. Also, I highly doubt the ergonomics will be better, considering that most cheap Ergo chairs are not manufactured by companies who do extensive R&D. My advice is that if you don't want to spend $1000+ on a brand new chair, then just get a refurbished Aeron or Leap v2 for half price.
@@WolfOfJustice "My advice is that if you don't want to spend $1000+ on a brand new chair, then just get a refurbished Aeron or Leap v2 for half price."
The thing is, after I tried them, I wouldn't even want them refurbished for 300-500 because I know I wouldn't have a great time in them. They were just not comfortable enough. I could sit longer in my amazon chair for 10-15hour with no pain, even though it definitely has a cheaper foam pad which also already got thinner where my bumm is, yet no pains over that long sitting time but on all these expensives chairs I do get discomfort and pain. Even from just the seats alone, apart from the ergon features. Even for free, I could not sit for long in them. I just can't/couldn't. I tried all these high end chairs for about a month, 2 of them even for 2 months. Through out the whole testing times I always wanted to sit less, (which you could argue is good) but for such a "premium" chair, I want both, ergonomics and comfort all around the chair where I would want to sleep in the chair, not stand up or at least be able to not wanting to stand up. I would want to be able to forget the chair. Which even the amazon chair achieved better. And that despite having a cheaper foam, cheaper ergonomics. Like how? I get that the ergo features might not be great enough for the long run of my back but just how is it that these high end chairs not get true comfort right as well? it's just as important
@zuga - Okay, I know exactly what issue you have. You're forgetting that these chairs correct bad posture and other bad seating habits, which can take a lot of time to fix. Initially, when I got the Aeron, it felt more uncomfortable than my previous £160 office chair. However, as soon as I got used to sitting properly, it became much more comfortable for me to sit in for 8+ hours, something I could never do in my previous chair. The only times I've seen people complain about comfort issues with these chairs, is when they fail to sit correctly in them. I'm 100% certain you're not sitting properly, because chairs like the Amia, Fern and Leap v2 are a lot less polarising than mesh chairs like the Aeron. Fyi, an office chair isn't meant for sleeping in, because that's what beds are for, and it's very unhealthy not to take regular breaks, regardless of how expensive your chair is.
@@WolfOfJustice good posture or not, shouldn't for example a seat, whether mesh, foam or something like the embody be way more comfy no matter how you sit on it because well, it's a much higher quality of a foam, mesh etc. But I haven't felt that with any of the high end chairs, no matter if I was sitting all the way straight or not. That's why I send them all back in the end, because even after videos and guides of how to set them up correctly and sitting perfectly straight and correct I was still getting pain in my buttcheeks for example, or because parts were literally poking through the thin cushion. That's nothing a correct posture can eliminate. but I ran into simple problems like these on high end chairs but not on my cheaper chair with a worn down foam. Shouldn't I experience discomfort on this chairs seat as well? especially if I would sit incorrectly? but I don't. I'm just convinced they focused too much on ergonomic features on paper for a good seeling point and left out proper cushioning design.
No good chair with a good headrest. Sad.
Lol, such a joke that "budget" is 300 fucking dollars. Hardly budget
I can't handle the way the sentences are spoken as though they end in commas instead of periods. It's more cringe-worthy than nails on a chalk board.
States at every price (it's even uppercase) in the title, and the cheapest is 300 dollars...what is this clown show, couldn't even hit 100 bucks at least considering the title?
Which one is the most comfortable on your butt?
I've in Titan chair now and its like sitting on a damn rock..
