I did not know this railway was this beautiful!
The late great U. Utah Phillips often talked about about the 'Bo whose moniker was Hood River Blackie.
Now I know where Ol' Hood River started his career so to speak.
Thank you for this wonderful video!!!
Jim thank you so much for sharing this trip with us. I like these kind of videos. Have a great weekend!
Great video Jim. Sure brought back warm memories of my 3 times having rode this train. I was very fortunate to ride on the full scenic dome cars that once plied these rails.
Love to see the train 🚂 interior more ❤

this is such a cool ride! i was recently camping in Stevenson and crossed over to Hood River, it is such a cool little town. I saw a small freight train the Mount Hood RR.
its called the mount hood railroad
Awesome video
Jetta's Dad in The Works, & I Do So Go for it with The Birdwell Island Church!
I love the MT hood rail road😀😙😘
Oh god… the mount hood got a new locomotive
I thought they only had 88 and 02
Actually, 2250 is the only locomotive they have now. Iowa Pacific idiotically pledged the entire Mount Hood fleet as security for several large loans from Sandton Capitol, and when they defaulted in 2020, all of the equipment was repossessed and put up for sale at Ozark Mountain. The new owner of the Mount Hood managed to get almost the entire passenger car fleet back, with at least one car now being in the hands of the Oregon Coast Scenic Railway. 02 was sold to the Denver Rock Island Railroad in Colorado, and I have no idea where 88 went.
The current owner of the Mount Hood is working to unravel the mess Ed Ellis left behind, and has some great plans to preserve and enhance the operation. The future for the Mount Hood Railroad looks bright.
First, also this looks fantastic thanks for uploading!!
Nice
This is the first time that you take a ride on the Mount Hood Railroad passenger train lead by an EMD GP-38 Dash 3 diesel locomotive #2250 up front in Hood River, Oregon.
What train in the Pacific Northwest are you going on next in the future?
As always, I am Thomas Comeau and I will see the replies from you, Jim Zim!
So you stopped in Pine Grove, eh? I live just a bit further down the track in the town of Odell. I wondered where the train was running to lately since, judging by how overgrown the tracks are getting here, its plainly not making it as far as it often used to when it would stop in Odell and/or Parkdale. Glad you enjoyed it!
(The Handover Family)!
Train doesn’t even go to Parkdale anymore, nothing like at all how it used to be
I Now Pronounce you Birdwell Islnad Church, & Clara's Seashore Souviner! Shop! thank you!
I used to ride this train on their polar express train
I was hoping we would see the inside of the train.
if you Please as The way it was in the 1980's!
Jim zim
Have you even been on the Durango and Silverton? (A bit of a travel from Washington to Colorado, bit a really nice narrow gauge railroad.)
In this video, you and your wife are riding on a passenger train over the Hood River in Oregon known as the Mount Hood Railroad.
Pretend that the G scale Santa Fe Super Chief passenger train lead by an EMD F7 diesel locomotive #202 from LGB is the Mount Hood Railroad passenger train.
And pretend that the brown cardboard box is the train depot in Hood River, Oregon.
What is in that brown cardboard box back at the house in Washington state?
As always, I am Thomas Comeau and I will see the replies from you, Jim Zim!
Cass scenic does this same kind of operations
Thanks for the ride, Jim!
BTW, If you don't mind.
What's the going price range on a ranch style house, something like yours or smaller in Washington, Oregon areas, these days?
And are those on a basement foundation or cement pad?
The country out there is so beautiful.
I hope you enjoy your new home, it looks like a wonderful neighborhood.
Once again, Thank You for the video, no mountains here in the midwest.
For new construction, they would start at about $625,000 in our area. Pre-existing homes can sell for quite a bit less, because lumber cost less in previous years. Our home is on a foundation with a crawl space under it. I don't know if that's how all homes here are, but that's how our builder does it.
What the- I thought the MH closed their passenger operations like have their coaches were sold and their engines were too 2250 is a lease unit
Me too. I thought the Royal Gorge Route Railroad in Canon City CO was supposed to get one of their vista domes. But i guess not
Local operators took over from Iowa Pacific. I believe the rolling stock seen in the video is staying put, and the vista domes were sold off. 2250 is being leased from Western Rail.
I want to know how much does it cost to ride this train. How many hours is the round trip.
$49 per adult, $39 per child, for a ride of about 1.5 - 2 hours.
@@JimZim Thank you.
@@JimZim Do I have to make a reservation or can I just arrive at the train depot between 8:00am and 4:30pm.
You could just walk up to the depot and book a ticket, but most people book it in advance at their web site: www.mthoodrr.com/
Try to use Thomas the tank engine the plow snow this Christmas
