    The only thing I've found with hole punching is most stems with rings are designed to hold flight tight at the bottom of the flight. By moving it a few mil upwards, it often doesn't clamp the flight as well, so sometimes playing around with different rings/springs helps a lot. But i like punched flights too. Also my tip for essential gadgets is a board level. Would of saved me and my old man loads of arguments back in the day 🤣

    That drill idea is perfect. I'll take a drill with me to my next tournament and make sure I'm sharpening darts during crucial throws - that should make for an interesting tournament.

    Hi Jack ,
    Ive used the punch hole in the flights for a fair few yrs now and find it keeps my flights well in place
    all the time , never had a flight come out with this way > the punching the flights .
    As for paint on the darts well i scraped the paint away i didnt want on , this after just scrubbing
    in warm water with a touch soapy suds, and then scraped off paint not wanted
    although takes time , this does the job via an old darts point scraping away the paint from inside grooves on the barrels.
    As for Sharpening the darts points well i just use the old sharpening stone as i use now
    although your way seen is so much quicker done , as is so much quicker taking paint from the darts . But again re sharpening darts not near as often as i done in yrs gone past re nowadays better wiring on boards not near as many bounce outs with rounded wire and old style fat staples around board in days gone past ..better today are the dart boards with way they are now made ..

    I used to punch my flights.
    But I found my Robin Hoods doubled.
    A nice smooth carbon stem is the way to go IMO. Holds the flights fine.
    But a re-pointer is essential.

    You don’t want to sharpen points.
    You want to rough them up.
    Sharpening does very little in terms of minimising bounce outs.

    For stubborn points without enough protrusion to be removed with the point remover, vinegar and the ultrasonic cleaner will dissolve the point for removal. Liked this better than using alum and a slow boil. No noticeable effect on the tungsten than alum.

    • @richardwales9674
      @richardwales9674 Před 2 lety

      I have an ultrsonic cleaner, had it for ages for cleaning the grime that builds up on the darts. The vinegar idea one interests me so how does that work? An ex of mine used to get some that she diluted down to make up a cleaner so I know there's some vicious stuff out there. It was very good at shift grime as well.

    • @whaynes4561
      @whaynes4561 Před 2 lety

      @@richardwales9674 I you tube searched when I had a point with not enough to grab a hold of. The first time this happened, I used alum and heat the first time. Had to use a mug in a pot because that stuff will dissolve/etch the pot. It also etched some of the non tungsten metal in the dart. Still was good though. Vinegar is much slower, no heat required. Little risk of damage to the dart or container. Put it away and wait 30 days. Found the ultra sonic cleaner sped up the vinegar dissolving the steel point and my Barney dart (that I paid way too much for) looked better than the other way.

    $50+ for a jewellery cleaner or $2 for a bottle of nail polish remover. I know what id choose to remove paint. Also just soak darts in hot water with some dish soap and give them a scrub with an old toothbrush to clean them and have them feel/look new. This video is a joke.
