I saw this music video on Disney Channel then heard "Tragedy" on the radio during one of my Xmas vacations years ago, all the way before up until I first bought my copy of the Step One (US Version) album on CD, which also contains that and this song!
I remember listening to this song in the car on my way to do a dancing show when I was about 6 years old. And they were great when I saw them in concert.
I grew up with this song from Steps. Rock on, guys. I miss seeing this music video on the Old Disney Channel as commercial bumpers before the TV shows came on after I came home from school. 😿 I didn't know that this British/English band also sang the song "Happy Go Lucky" from The Princess Diaries Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. The oldies are a blessing of comfort to everyone on behalf of the COVID-19 pandemic. 👍🏻 if you nostalgically agree.
Really? I watched this whole video and couldn’t find her.. (edit) Nevermind, I found her... I think.. she’s the one in the white crop top and mini skirt... dancing in the background. Lol..
Nine years ago I was 7 and I went to these guys in concert... TWICE! It brings back sooo many happy memories. Such a shame that an amazing band had to split up! :( x
COMPLETELY forgot this existed. Glad it's been brought back to my attention. Actually really like this version of the song too! Can't wait to see them on tour!
They are ALL good....yeah claire has most of the vocals and is a fantastic singer anyway but back then Claire has most of the vocals in most of the songs at the time too
I wanted your love but look what it's done to me All my dreams have come to nothing Who would have believed? All the laughter that we shared would be a memory I cannot count the tears you've cost me If I could have seen And do you ever think of me And how we used to be? Oh I know you're somewhere else right now And loving someone else no doubt Well I'm one for sorrow And it too too bad Are you breaking someone else's heart? Cos your taking my love where you are Well I'm one for sorrow Ain't it too too bad about us I wanted your love, but I got uncertainty I tried so hard to understand you All the good it did me Now the places that we knew remind me of how we were Everything is just the same But all I feel is hurt And do you ever think of me And how we used to be?
This was the US version. I remember Disney channel playing it & it compelled me to buy their album(the US release of Steptacular or Step One-I forget). It sucks that they never got big in the states. If Mtv had only played this a few times it'd have caught on for sure. It was odd because pop was dominating at the time & there was so much money to be made from their success in America! Sadly it was never to be. Co-ed pop never was a big thing here like it was everywhere else. S-Club & A*Teens were bigger than Steps here which is funny considering Steps' catalogue & talent were eons ahead of either of the former.
I know what you mean. Boy/Girl pop groups have never been a thing in the US but note that elsewhere they were. Both S Club 7 and A-Teens were bigger outside of Europe than Steps. I can’t tell why. I think that because A-Teens used the ABBA formula in the beginning got them recognized and S Club 7 had the TV show and was managed by former Spice Girls manager... I do feel as though that Steps never got out of the simple Pop formula whereas S Club 7 mixed R&B sounds into their music and wasn’t afraid to play it sexier...
Can we continue this 2 year-old topic? S Club 7 & A-Teens were bigger than Steps because their music (which is more R&B) was considered cooler than Steps'. It felt less-guilty pleasure to listen to them (at that time). But whatever happened in the past, it's Steps who won in the end. They released one of their best album 20 years later, stay true to their style that makes their fandom still exist, and fill the gap in today's music scene. They might never be no.1 and considered as cool, but they always have a place in fan's heart... Their musics make fans happy, sweet memories, and that's the most important thing.
True. I first discovered them back then through a Teen Power CD that had Tragedy as the last track. Fell in love with it but didn’t find any of their other songs until the early CZcams days.
I started to listen to steps in 96 with my son who was 2 yrs old, and all these years later im more of a fan and love all what they do..one for sorrow will always be a special song as will a lot of there music..
They did at least one album. "Light Up the World", and a couple tours in 2012. As of late Faye recently appeared in the worldwide premiere of the musical The Tailor Made Man from March to April and will be appearing in the musical Singin' in the Rain from December through to March next year. H will be appearing in Joseph from June to October and in Jack and the Beanstalk in December. Lee will be running 3 marathons and taking time to manage his wife's band Concrete Rose. Claire is working on her own fashion range for Fashion World after, which she also models becoming ambassador. She has also announced on Twitter that she has thought about producing a solo album. In January 2014, Claire announced on Twitter that she had begun work on her first studio album.
this was the first cassette i ever bought and i played it over and over, and i had the steps video tape that taught you their dance routines and i used to spend hours trying to get it perfect, then me and my friends would perform them in the playground at primary school, wow, i miss those days =[
When I was a kid, I thought they were saying "One for sorrow in a tu-tu that fell off." 12 years later, I still can only hear that. I still have no idea what they are saying.

For all the haters! This was filmed and made in the states when they were supporting britney a spears! It was USA making them into a band that could break the states... Xxx
For US Steps fan this was the song and video that introduced them to us. This is our 5,6,7,8 lol
Anyone else notice how the chord progression for the chorus sounds like “The Winner Takes it All” by ABBA?
YES!!! I thought it sounded very familiar
Spot on! The song is a deliberate nod to The Winner Takes it All. Steps have referred to it occasionally in interviews. :)
Its the whole point. Doh!
Steps/Abba collaboration with abba chords but steps vocals and steps dance beat
I was living in Texas, DJ/VJing in the most popular gay club in Houston, and I played all of their videos! Love them all to this day!
Probably the Best Steps song.
Those were the days.
Love the Moran remix this is my fave one for sorrow version 😊
@@LadySophieofHougunManor7325 Yeah its not bad Sophie 😊
@@Nuron666 there’s just something so catchy about those first few beats a bit like the duff duffs from eastenders theme tune as it’s going off
@@LadySophieofHougunManor7325 very true, its a catchy song Sophie. I miss the old BBC Top of the pops back in the days.

I had a memory last night of when I was a child on a Saturday morning and this was on TV and it was an amazing time. Take me back.
Look at them, all happy with their super-video-cameras :_)
Back then, we used to consider all this stuff as modern and cool lol
I remember listening to this song in the car on my way to do a dancing show when I was about 6 years old. And they were great when I saw them in concert.
I feel ashamed I am getting to know them now. I should've known them long before. This song is their best, one of the best
Grew up listening to bsb steps sclub7 solid harmony

One of the best Steps videos I've seen. Lots of closeups of all five of them.

Why did they break up?
Piper wilson They went on hiatus, claiming they wanted to end their careers on a high note. But they are back now! :-)
