Tarantulas in the video:
Monocentropus Balfouri - Socotra Island Blue Baboon Tarantula
Tarantulas are fascinating creatures that make great pets for many reasons. First and foremost, they are low maintenance and relatively easy to care for. With the right setup and regular feeding, a tarantula can live for many years and bring joy to its owner.
To properly care for a tarantula, it's important to provide them with a suitable enclosure that mimics their natural environment. This includes a substrate that allows for burrowing and hiding, as well as hiding spots and proper ventilation. Tarantulas also require a regular source of food, such as crickets or other insects, and access to clean water. Additionally, it's important to monitor the temperature and humidity levels of their enclosure to ensure they are living in a comfortable environment.
Aside from their low maintenance care, tarantulas are also great pets because they are fascinating creatures to observe. They have unique behaviors and are highly adaptive to their surroundings. Watching a tarantula eat or molt can be a truly captivating experience. Plus, they come in many different shapes and sizes, making them a great addition to any collection.
In conclusion, tarantulas are great pets for those who appreciate their unique qualities and are willing to provide them with proper care. Their low maintenance needs and interesting behaviors make them an ideal pet for many, and their longevity means they can provide companionship for many years. If you're looking for a pet that is both fascinating and low maintenance, consider adding a tarantula to your family.
I currently have 4 balfouri (about 3.5-4” dls) that were in a communal when they were rehomed to me. I split them up into individual enclosures because I intend on breeding them and there is only one female to 3 suspected males. I want to be able to keep a close eye on the female and feed her up before breeding but anyways I wanted to say that they were much more docile when in a communal setup. Now I get threat poses from them occasionally when I’m just changing water dishes out or removing an old bolus. Strange little creatures. Love them!
it's PERFECT that you uploaded this the other day because I'm getting my very first communal on Tuesday. I am SO excited!!
Nice, congrats... how many are you getting?
WOW 😳😮, I can't believe I just found this channel, it's AWESOME 😎😎 very informative and easy to follow.❤❤❤❤
When you pull their hides apart, don't you worry about hurting any of them?
He’s a breeder and has no disregard or respect for them, I had to stop watching.. so awful
Your balfouris are beautiful :) Obviously you keep them well, with all of them together and no deaths
Thanks Caitlin, appreciate the love. I do my best :)
Aram, keep up the good job on these videos, pretty dope bro.
From your Tank brother out in
the Wyo
Steve, what's up brother... thanks man, trying here. We just filmed 2 videos earlier today, took the ENTIRE day haha.
Stunning as ever I’d say about 200 in that box, Regards Andy PS keep at it with these great videos
Probably more than 200 lol, and thank you for the feedback brother. I appreciate your support :)
super excited bro!! and my guess on the # of molts in the box- 6,603 :)
The moult box made me laugh :P I keep every single one of my moults in jars. Amazing footage. I wondered why it is recommended to have a group bigger than 5 and seemingly the bigger the better? I ask as my balfouri did cannibalise :'(. I thought I did my research and kept 6 in a small enclosure to encourage them to set up home together which they did do - I saw them all in the tunnel together. However about 2 years later they were rehoused and only 3 were left; one really fat. There was only one half of a dead body found so it looks like 2 were fully eaten, rather than any dying for another reason. They were only around 1-1.5cm big when they arrived though, so am wondering if it could be something to do with what you mentioned about how they should stay with the mother longer?
Nice bit of knife work there 😉
That's cool that they can be kept communaly!
I love that about them.
I own a Balfouri, and I always wondered if the communal community can mix and match from other parents can stay without issues. Like different bros and sises.
Absolutely they can. As long as they are coming from a communal, and they are approximately the same size.
I've fallen in love with 🕸 spiders. Balfori❤️
When I was a little girl (40+yrs ago) I watched a movie called Kingdom of Spiders with the guy from the original star treck was in it..late 70s early 80s. That movie scared the bee jeebus out of me. But watching these videos, learning about the species. I have a lot of respect for tarantulas.
Thats really a big goal of mine. To break that misconception that spiders have to be these super scary animals... in reality, they really are not :) thank you for your support on my channel
I'm a fan of said movie. That was one of my first horror films.
@@ixithixyl9227 I'm also a big fan of that movie. My experience wasn't of horror but amazement. You had a gorgeous lady scientist find one in her room and she just picks it up (Mexican red knee) like it was nothing. That told me they weren't dangerous or mean biters. I noticed the town's people who took part in the movie were brave enough to have them on their bodies. lol Not long after that an episode of "That's Incredible " with Kathy lee Crosley had a guest on the show with red knee tarantulas and Ms. Lee landed up holding one. From then on I wanted one bad.
I just got this species. So beautiful!
Perhaps it beats my Mexican red knee!
I mean they are so different in so many ways. I particularly not a big fan of Brachypelma because they kick hair, but they are still so pretty :)
Id say like 300+ ts in that big tub. Question for you, how often in m balfouri do you find a sack? Plenty of info i have gained from this video and makes me want to start keeping old worlds.
IM A BIG FAN WOWWW ♥️
Heck yeah, appreciate the love!!
Amazing content, hope you get to make a video on Chilobrachys sp electric blue soon
I do have juveniles and adults, maybe I can make a video on their care. They are pretty easy and straight forward as well.
Hoping i had this one Balfouris 😢
Applause for you From Philippines
Impressive. Thanks for the info. I'm getting mine soon. 🤪
Anytime. Shoot me some more video ideas :) Appreciate the love!
@UrbanTarantulas if possible maybe you might want to make another ultimate guide for p. metallica communal ultimate guide 😄
Don’t know why everyone says balfouri has to be kept
In a smaller enclosure. I’ve not seen that. I’ve kept 6 balfouri in a pretty big enclosure without any problems. And have seen hundreds of others do the same thing. With the Metallica now they do need to be kept closer quarters I’ve found.
I do believe from my experience that they tend to do better in smaller quarters, less casualties on large communals. It's just safer in my opinion, just like with the Pokies. I've also heard of people keeping them in large terrariums without issues, that goes to say that balfouri are the most communal of all species :)
@@UrbanTarantulas agreed. Have had a large setup with over 50 and have done very well. Thanks for the feedback though.
@@wakingforbacon6439 Appreciate the love! :)
My female is the most defensive and aggressive tarantula I have..but she takes care of her babies..the male I bought from you still alive and webbing(she ate the 1st suitor though)
Oh, how old is the male now? And yes, they are amazing mothers. The best in all of the tarantula species :)
@@UrbanTarantulas he was fully mature when I get him around in May 2022 and still going
Nice. He is an old man now. Is he active still?
He still builds sperm webs drinks water and occasionally will eat..spends most the time in his hide but he gets to roaming still
@@robertsimpson5072 Nice nice...
So I got two large male Balfouri and I have noe idea how to get the chance to open my lid of the terrarium without them coming in full speed and wants to get out of there, can u please give my a tip?
Even when I feed them they come towards where I open up instead of just chilling. They are extreemly active inside the terrarium and do not want to burrow down or make a cave or w/e.
Would love some feedback.
Yes im new to this hobby, and I got 2 male Balfouri, about 1 or 2 years, and two baby Blue brazilian tarantula.
I wanna see you do some 'Flippin' with your Balisong.
Great and Fun video! Thanks!
Do you think two Balfouri females will get along together? Or is it too small a colony?
great content. one quickie do you feed mon with sac and any technique on how to get another mom to adopt sling from other sac. Thanks!
I typically do NOT feed the mom when she is guarding an eggsac. We start feeding the mom when the babies have emerged and are 1st instar (after eggs with legs) and she will take the prey and chew it up with her fangs, and the little babies will start foraging from her. And you can totally throw in other babies into there (granted that they are the same size) and she would totally adopt the newcomers.
I got 3 adult females that kept their super blue carapace it's dope, the rest of the communal didn't
Got my M. balfouri at about .5" there're doing great def favorite species, also whats 1 happy holiday in your specials?
Hey bro. I had the holiday special for this last Christmas, but still havn't taken them down yet. I will be taken down the holiday special prices and increasing prices a bit in the next week or so. :)
When purchasing a collective on your website will some of the juveniles be female?
How do you feed them and ensure they all get access to the food?
Just throw a bunch of crickets in there... come back the next day and if all crickets are eaten, throw more.
Like, okay so for a full grown group of 6 balfouri, what size container ?.
Pretty awesome set up. I would guess around 177
I think more :)
Question… I have 2 balfori… wish it was more. Is it possible to get more of similar size to add to my community? Or would that be a bad idea?
that should be fine as long as they are already communal, which you said you have 2. So, in my opinion they should be fine as long as they are about the same size. How big are they and what size enclosure are they in? You can email me as well by the way.
is it possible to purchase communal of 6 small and 6 large and keep them all together ?
I would say probably not the best idea to keep larger ones and smaller ones together. If they are roughly the same size, and they BOTH come from a communal then that is perfect!!! But if you're throwing slings and adults, probably not?
@@UrbanTarantulas I live close by. Can I stop by and pick up communal of 10 adults?
150!!🎉
lol, way more!!!
What's size was that second tub?
Wondering about feeding all of those balfouri the big communal
Can’t wait until my six get bigger
They look like a mess of mice scurrying around. My adult daughter raised mice and they were fun to watch but no matter how often you cleaned their habitat they smelled horrible. Enjoy your videos.
First
Hell yeah.... sup Alex.
Kershaw 5150BW Lucha?!
300 plus
Total fraidy-pants here...and I was doing fine until you lifted up the communal Web and they all ran every which way....eeeeek 😮🕷 PS...then when your big female went walkies on you.....no way....... 😱😱😱😱
Why did you destroy their beautifull home? For more views, so sad!!!
You didn't watch the video
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
:)
I think like 250+
I think more lol

Stell dir vor, du sitzt als Grille auf einer leichten Anhöhe und bist von unzähligen Taranteln umgeben😬
I'm going to guess around 300
Gorgeous, healthy "little community".... You are amazing!
lol way more!!
What should i do to control the population not to spend all my money in tanks? 👀
TIME OUT 😅
No time outs lol... maybe a little
I don't understand why you destroy their habitat and risk injuring them like that.
I do explain it in the video if you watch it bro... Also, what do you think happens when I sell them? I have to get in there dig them up and put them inside a vial and ship, so it's a common practice anyway. I don't injure them when im pulling apart their webbing. They web it back up in no time. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have Peter.

So they just breed and you let the babies hatch in there with the adults? And just watch the numbers grow or….? Lol
200
I think more!!!
@@UrbanTarantulas thank you sir
Holy smokes batman! These spiders can be ordered via the mail service?! Wtf! Well in my humble opinion it's some what cruel and worrying too! If one was to escape in transit I'm sure whoever was to find it would freak out! I know I certainly would! Can we say it's ethical to send them by post?! I think it would be better to travel and pick it up from breeders..
I’m pretty sure they have to be set by like fedex or something like that. Overnight shipping
I've order most of my Ts online. Just recently bought a communal from Urban. The shipping process is simple, little pill like vials with little holes to allow air, they damp a paper towel and roll the T inside it and put it in the vial. They ship it with styrofoam so they don't roll around and depending on temperature they will include 48 hour heat packs. The shipping is overnight fedex, I've had them get delayed for 2 days and be fine.
I just wanna see timelapses when they are outside and visible
