What's up y'all, welcome back to another video. Today we're doing the first impressions of the Nikon 28-400mm f4-8 VR after my first couple of shoots with the lens. This lens would be perfect with a full frame Nikon Z camera for photographing whales, dolphins, and other sea life on a boat. My 24-200 simply didn't have enough reach.
Great shots! Looks like a solid travel lens, and bonus zoom with an APS-C camera is nice. One more advantage is for people who shoot bird or nature photography. There's definitely a market out there for people who prefer lighter camera gear, too. This lens checks a lot of boxes. Thanks for the review!
This would be a great replacement for my24-200 in my light kit that also includes my Z50 and 12-28.

I have a Z50 with the 2 kit lens and the one I use the most is 50-250 and I think I will be just doing landscape and wildlife. Not really a portrait photographer. Would this lens be a good fit for me.
I have the Z50 and love the 50-250 as well. I think this would be a good, but expensive, upgrade . I’m thinking about getting this for my Z6III.

YES ! Overkill, IMO all zooms is overkill !!! I only use prime Lenses.
The price is overkill on those primes for the focal lengths this gives you.

It does not change the focal
Length. PLEASE stop spreading this falsehood, it changes your field of view. Stop saying it’s 600mm. You cannot change the focal length of a lens. It is a max of 400mm. This is the kind of thing that confuses new users.
