I'm taking a big leap and paying to have SuperHouse boards produced in a factory, which costs a lot of money up front but hopefully will give me more time to work on videos. It also means that some products will now have awesome retail packaging.
I'm also clearing space in my lab by giving my Patreon supporters access to a special secret section of my online store, where they can buy clearance items for not much more than the cost of postage.
Please support me on Patreon for the opportunity to receive exclusive discount codes and other benefits: / superhouse

This sounds awesome! Let’s just hope a certain shitty electronics retailer whom shall remain nameless doesn’t rip you off again.
In terms of your supply chain and resource management, I think you’d definitely benefit from something like Odoo for your MRP, ERP, inventory, scheduling, sales orders etc. it’s open source and most of the most useful modules are free. I might be biased since I am an odoo dev by trade, but for an open source ERP system, it really is pretty good out of the box.
Great to see more videos mate, have a great chrissy!

Very professional and well thought out packaging. The only issue is the boards look so nice in the packages, it feels a shame to unbox them!

It sounds like you've made all the right moves. It's too bad your shipping costs are high thanks to your postal system. Canada and England I believe have a similar situation. In the U.S. you pay higher shipping on nearly everything than the same items bought from China.

Yes, and it's because of the way international postage treaties work. When you send a package, you (the sender) pays postage. The postal service that receives and delivers the package doesn't receive any payment, but incurs half the expense. So countries with a nett export rate (like China) can charge almost no postage, and countries with nett imports (USA, UK, Australia) have to charge a lot of postage to balance out the ratio.

Is it possible to put up those earlier PSB on your store under the 'clearance' even if it's for more than the patreons?
I find them much nicer to use as they don't have the ISP pins using using up a bunch of space.

That sounds like a good idea. I still have plenty to get rid of.

Dear Jon, great channel. Thanks for the valuable infos. I wanted to ask if you could provide some information or recommend how to properly implement AC light dimming, blinds control and specially energy monitoring when automating using a central switchboard and DIN rail type components. Also, could you recommend a provider of quality components ? (I was looking at Lisxchda DMX dimmers and relays on Aliexpress but I could not find reviews on the web)

What happened to your pick and place machine? Isn't Mick supposed to be assembling your boards?

What sort of quantities do these factories expect?

Because I have a good relationship with them (putting through hundreds of thousands of Freetronics boards) I can get away with quite small orders. 100 - 300 pieces is OK, although they want to see much more than that. I had to pay for 4000 sets of each type of packaging to be produced, then it's held aside so it can be used up over time with production runs of the boards. Below 4000 units they won't take my order. My biggest up-front cost has been the packaging.
