  • The skate park flip has taken a while to get to this point but it should be worth it. This house was a mess when I bought it and it is almost done!

The house looks much better. No don't leave the big old dead tree. Good luck with this project.

Agreed- remove the tree, give the new owners a clear slate.

I got a house like that once. Yard was large and overgrwon. Restored the garden. Neighbor who knew the previos owner gave me the history. I found the house had an alarm system hidden in a closet. I reconnected the cut wires and it worked. The neighbor told me the birthdate of the previous owner and it was the alarm code. I restored the inside and it was a great house. I lived in it during the restore and someone tried breaking in. Alarm scared them off.

The vibes of this house was that it was multi-generational - probably a guy grew up here (the original checker floor, nice landscaping, etc. and all the nice stuff done by his parents) and inherited the house and pretty much did whatever he wanted with it (neglected) when he lived there. I'm betting the skate stuff was installed after he inherited it - probably inherited as a college kid and just never grew-up. Definitely the vibes of a 60s kid; and everything vibes 60s.

Perhaps using a buffing pad with a mild abrasive on that basement floor would save those tiles?

      Might stir up asbestos.

@@robstephens, Yes it would, if they are asbestos based tiles.

@@robstephensMark doesn't care about that. He lives through exploiting others.
If saving a few dollars means making an extra $100 while tennants spend thousands on health care issues, then that's ok by him. It's not his problem.

You should use flat for the ceiling. So many flaws are made visible when you can see light reflect. And use paddle switches not those 1970's toggle switches. Toggles really date the home.

I hope you make some money from the videos of this place. I've really enjoyed watching all of them. Crazy passion of the former residents! I still can see in my head the guy with the jack hammer in the basement! I know you are glad you don't do that often - or ever again!

It’s called a dine in kitchen, once really popular. Why didn’t Nikki pick 42” tall top cabinets? - makes it look more finished and upscale.

Hello, what a fun yard that would be to work with. No don't keep that old tree it is dead and most likely will fall one day on something or someone. It's cool looking but danger danger! Of course it might stand another 100 years who knows LOL Take Care, oh and the house looks great.

I think this home will come out really nice. The junky looking nextdoor (on the left) side yard (big overstuffed chair there and other crap) might hurt you. I always look at my neighbors yards when scoping out a house to buy. I avoid places where my neighbors have too much "yard wealth". I do really like the house. It's coming along nicely! I like the big tree and the personality of the yard. It has potential.

I actually really like the house now. Waiting to hear how much you spent! Unless, you find a buyer who wants to carve a totem pole on the tree; spend the $1000 and remove it(or give them that credit in the sale price🤷🏻‍♀️ that outside brick is ugly. I know this will upset subscribers, but paint it white!👍🏻

How much wood could a woodpecker peck if a woodpecker pecked that tree?
Leave it. The birds will love it.

You have a design person to come up with the ideas and contractors to do the work.
What is it that you do?
